Sherlock Holmes
Over the weekend I sat thru some of my favorite classics... Starring one of my favorite actors Basil Rathbone .. as Sherlock Holmes. I realize these old black and white films have their flaws. The story line is not like any of todays and there is no special effects. The movies were nothing like the books. But I love watching them anyway. Kind of like comfort food. I could wrap up on the sofa with a bit of hot tea and watch the duo go after the bad guys. I love mysteries and these two ..as unlikely a pair ..Dr. Watson who I could identify with as someone who seemed sometimes a bit dense and Sherlock Holmes who noticed EVERYTHING. But still in all were the best of friends. Like I said my kind of "comfort". I realize I was born in the wrong era, both actors are gone now and have been for some time. But in my heart when ever any of the Sherlock Holmes movies (starring Basil and Nigel)are on ...they again are as alive as you and I. In the meantime, you'll find me perched on my couch, teacup in hand and a smile on my lips. Ahh, "elementary my dear.. elementary".
