In Honor of Charlie: Greatest Hits
Dominic Monaghan as Charlie by Mario Perez/ ABC
With Lost's enveloping two-hour finale last night came the painful goodbye of Dominic Monaghan's Charlie. For me, this character was a big reason I watched our Oceanic survivors argue, forgive, explore and face danger week after week, so when the rock star pressed his palm against the glass window and cracked a small smile for Desmond as the surrounding water provided a silent farewell, I was a little choked up and realized my Lost experience will definitely change come next season. One of my favorite Charlie moments was the episode in which he drafted a list of his best moments, his "greatest hits," and as a nod to Monaghan's brilliant portrayal of a man who's gained quite a different perspective on life, I've come up with my own greatest hits — not of my life, but of moments from shows that were on the top of my playlist this past season.
Brothers & Sisters When Tommy and Holly threw a party for the opening of their vineyard, Kitty accidentally popped a few painkillers (thinking they were aspirin) and became an obliterated, babbling fool in front of Kevin. By far, Calista Flockhart's finest reach to lay all of Kitty's messiness on the table.
Grey's Anatomy After Meredith almost drowned and the entire surgical staff dropped what they were doing to spend hours trying to save her, Sandra Oh gave us an unforgettable Cristina-Meredith moment as she talked to her best friend, her "person," so emotionally that we saw the human side of her character — something I love seeing in between the often robotic, sarcastic and cold Cristina scenes.
Heroes When Mohinder was trying to take Sylar's spinal fluid, the Bogeyman's escape completely entranced me. The hovering bullet in front of his face was my favorite part, and this is really when Sylar's strengths started combining into all-inclusive magic for me. An IV? An arm restraint? Forget it. Good try, Mohinder.
How I Met Your Mother There are so many laugh-out-loud moments for me when I'm watching this hysterical half hour, but "The Slap Bet" as a whole was a great episode and hit overall for this show. I can't wait to see where those remaining slaps come out.
Lost It's hard to choose the best moment from this season, so I'll settle for two. When Charlie tries to prevent Hurley from knowing the truth about Desmond's latest vision and tells him he's too big to come on the boat, I was reminded of why I adored Charlie so much when he ran up to Hugo and gave him a giant hug. "Just remember I love you." My other Lost moment was in last night's finale when Jack told Kate he loved her. It was simple, it was quiet, and I had been waiting for it all season.
Those were some of my favorite scenes from my favorite shows this season... My TV Greatest Hits. I'm sad to think that Charlie's list is gone now that Desmond took the dive to The Looking Glass, but Charlie's greatness will never be lost.
Who/what/which show would make your Hits List?

Gilmore Girls - that series finale made me tear up. Lauren Graham was amazing and I loved the huge gesture Luke made for -her- in throwing the goodbye party in the rain for Rory. My favorite line was right before the kiss, when Luke said to Lorelai, "I just want to see you happy." That said it all for me...

Actually one of my favourite scenes (not my favourite one since every episode seems to have more than a couple of those) this season on LOST was back on one of those polarizing first 6 episodes when Juliette was showing Jack an old classic movie while talking but secretly showing a video of her with signs telling him not to believe anything she says and coniving to kill Ben, THAT was the moment when that new character had me!
Also one of my favourite moments this season has to be Christina on Grey´s Anatomy freaking out about Mer dying and going to the 99 cents store, but my ultimate favourite moment of Grey´s this season was the touching and beautiful Izzy and Denny goodbye.

The Lost finale was far and away highlight number one for me. That was simply one of the best season finales for any show ever.
30 Rock, especially Alec Baldwin's Jack and Kenneth the Page.
The Office pretty much all season was brilliant.
Joy's season-long legal woes on My Name Is Earl, especially the trial and her interaction with her deaf lawyer.
The Shield, as bold and brash and powerful as ever. The inevitable Vic-Shane showdown is going to be great!
I like Brothers and Sisters but I really want to like it more. I'm hopeful season 2 will find a more centered tone. And I enjoy Heroes but it's not "wowing" me.
But for me this season has been more about the disappointments-Gilmore Girls kind of limping to the finish line (though I kind of liked the finale), 24 seeming more like 72, The Sopranos pretty blah, a Bree-free Desperate Houswives making for a Me-free Desperate Houswives, The Amazing Race (Supposed) All Stars.

My favorite Lost moment came early in the season when Jack was captured by Ben and to convice Jack that they had communication with the outside world, he told them some of the things that had happened. George Bush reelected, Christopher Reeve died and the Red Sox winning the World Series. As a huge Red Sox fan, that moment hit me as Jack said that if Ben was going to lie it should at least be believable. Then came the tape. That was a great moment. And the finale: Absolutely jawdropping. Fantastic. It will be a long wait till next season, but should be totally worth it.

My Top 5 Greatest Hits of the '06-'07 season:
5. Justin Walker playing the tape his mother made for him while he was in Iraq on "Brothers & Sisters". Pretty much solidified Sally Field as the best thing speaking English on television (she does even have to have a face and she can still out act everyone in the room).
4. The season finale of "Weeds", no one does "deer in headlights" face better than Mary-Louise Parker and that was probably one of the best season endings I've seen. I mean, seriously, how the hell is she going to get out of that??
3. Planet Earth series. Truly awe-inspiring. Finally HD TV comes in handy!
2. 30 Rock - Tracey Does Conan. In that one episode, the show had officially made the transition from uneven to funny to brilliant.
1. Lost - Through the Looking Glass. Not just the best Lost episode of the season. Not just the best season finale of the season. The best anything on television this season, by far.
Honorable mentions: Entourage - "A Day in the Valley", the Nikki-Paulo episode of Lost, Heroes - "Company Man", Melinda Doolittle, The Colbert Report, and Project Runway.

I would hope my best of this season would still come with Matthew Fox winning an Emmy for his work on Lost. I think all the rest would be Lost, Supernatural or Planet Earth moments for me. Among them:
-The realization by Sawyer that he, Kate and Jack were being held on another island. -Eko's death at the jaws of the Smoke Monster. -Hurley and Charlie's joy ride to Shambala. -The finale of Lost - the best I've ever seen on TV.

Supernatural - Born Under A Bad Sign. Everything about the scene with Sam and Jo in the bar. Jared has never been better.
Grey's Anatomy - Cristina and Meredith have the best relationship on this show. So like everyone said the moment with Cris and Mere when she was willing her to speak was one of my top favorites. Followed by the finale, with Mere cutting the wedding dress off her then holding her.
Brothers & Sisters - Anything with Kevin, who has become one of my favorite characters on television. He's such a glorious mess when it comes to relationships.
Heroes - When Nathan first flew.
24 - When Jack took a bite out of that guy's throat.
The Office - The entire season was one big hit.
30 Rock - The Crab fight in Jack's office.
