I think we'll be lucky to get her back for cameo appearances. The Season 11 premiere had her only on the phone - I don't think we can expect to see Ruth back.....

When the new CW network decided to 'Uncancel' 7th Heaven and give it one more season, they only agreed to do so if the main actors on the show agreed to take a big pay cut. All of the actors agreed except for David Gallagher (Simon) and Mackenzie Rosman (Ruthie) and that is why they are no longer on the show. Whether or not one or both make cameo appearances is unknown but unlikely although I am sure when this season ends and the REAL final episode airs they will make an appearance.

Ruthie has since returned to the show, as of two or three weeks ago. As for the writing, they had her extend her stay in scotland and then wrote the Eric health scare as a way to get her home. I would assume that Mackenzie, the girl who plays Ruthie realized that she missed the show or whatever. I'm glad she's back, the character was too much a part of the show. As for the others who are barely seen, they are older with new lives so that makes it easier. Also the additions of new people moving into the house to get help from the Camdems helps keep interest. Its great to see them helping more people. I was upset with how it ended last season so I was personally quite happy that we are getting this season, the story lines this year are great.
