« The 4400
Boycott USA NETWORK for cancelling popular shows
I've just learned of the cancellation of "The 4400". If a show is losing viewers and the network can't afford to continue then I can understand a cancellation. However, the excuse of cancelling a popular show to "make way" for new programing is bad business for the network and it's advertisers. It's bad enough that most cable and network stations only produce 4 to 8 new episodes a season, then go on hiatus for up to 6 months, but when they then cancel a popular show during that hiatus, they risk losing loyal viewers and advertisers. At the very least, as a courtesy to viewers, the tv networks should advertise and air a final episode (series finale'). By canceling a show and not even telling viewers it has been cancelled the tv networks show a lack of respect, if not contempt, for the viewers. With little intelligent programming and an influx of mindless, talentless "reality" shows, the viewing public have little reason to invest their time in watching tv programing. I for one am no longer going to reserve time for shows that may or may not air again after hiatus. If the networks can't afford to pay quality writers and actors for intelligent reliable programming, they should get out of the business of entertainment. I suggest the public should cancel subscriptions to cable, satellite and any other pay tv services and simply rent a movie in person or by mail. At least we'll know what we'll be watching and when. See how advertisers like it when they've lost the viewers who purchase their products and services! Boycott, USA and all cable and network television stations!

Sorry but I refuse to boycott USA network. They still have Monk and Psych and Burn Notice, all quality shows! They are getting ready to air a new series called "In Plain Sight" which I have really been looking forward to.
It is unfortunate that The 4400 and Dead Zone were cancelled, I watched every episode of each, but the other shows are just too good!

Hey, Ranger99 - I see you on the Torchwood blog! Sorry, markciotti, but I agree with Ranger99. USA is one of the few channels I actually watch.

I'm in full agreement with you. If a new show starts that looks interesting, I'm going to boycott what could be a really great show. If the show is that good, I'll wait till it ends and rent it. That way I don't have to watch advertisers who won't support what the viewers want.

OMG. They cancelled the 4400???? I thought I'd be patient and not torture myself by checking too soon, but I figured we were close enough to summer (the usual beginning of each new 4400 season). I'm devistated. Why? Why would they do this? Did some cast member get caught sleeping with the producer's wife? Were they abducted by aliens and warned to never air the show again? Is USA network just tired of their popularity? If it wasn't for 4400 I don't think I would have ever even stopped on that channel, but now I watch it because I became a devoted fan. I'm with you. I say BOYCOTT.....Oh, and not only do I want 4400 back, I want it back WITH LILY...and the guy who beat up the vandals in the park (you know, steve from Sex ITC)!!!
