Point #1: What if it were just about the pipes
on Point #1 on 25 things you didn't know about Idol, TV Guide Sr. Writer Shawna Malcom made a statement about who would've won Season 1 if Idol were only about vocal ability. The best way to tell this would take an example that meets 2 requirements. First, the example must be an *audio only* recording, to showcase pipes alone so that there is no camera to play up to and make fall in love with you (showcasing none of the charisma), and Second, it must be a duet between the girl who won Season 1 and the girl Shawna picked would've won Season 1 if Idol were about pipes alone. We have the perfect example. It's called "You Thought Wrong" from Kelly's Thankful CD. I'm not arguing with Shawna I'm saying we have the perfect media to judge by for ourselves. Listen to You Thought Wrong and discuss. Both ladies did a fantastic job. I must say I do have my own opinion on whose voice on Who Thought Wrong i like more than the other. Also I wonder if where Tamyra and Kelly are today in 2008 has any bearing on who would've won Season 1 if Idol were about pipes alone...

I just want to make sure yawl know i'm not here to argue with Shawna cuz she gave us her opinion and i respect it and we all are entitled to an opinion. I'm just making the point that she touched on the one thing in It Takes More Than A Good Voice To Be The American Idol that the song You Thought Wrong on Thankful can be used perfectly to open the discussion.
So...say You Thought Wrong is all you get to hear...which of the 2 voices in the track would send you scrambling to the phones to vote vote vote repeatedly?
