The Biggest Loser

Congratulations Bill! Congratulations Jim! What a proud day for the Germanakos family. First they were the first twins in Biggest Loser history, then they were both rejected from the Red and Blue Teams. And then months later, they won it all: Bill, the Biggest Loser and winner of a quarter million dollars, and Jim, the Biggest Loser out of the eliminated 14 players and winner of $100,000.

You know the show's producers must be drooling over the twins winning this game and how they are going to shamelessly remind us about it every chance they get in future seasons. Think of how many "breaking history" moments they had this season: the first-ever set of twins, the oldest contestant ever (Jerry), the female who lost the most weight on the show (Isabeau), the most weight gain on the show (Neil and his notorious 17 pounds), and the first time only one team has made it to the finale (Black Team). It should be interesting to see what kind of records will be hit in the next couple of seasons — which in case you missed the 18 times Allison mentioned it, premieres January 1.

Speaking of Allison, was it just me or did she show more enthusiasm during the first opening minute of tonight's show than this entire season? Maybe it's something about live television that gets her energy going. Plus she looked fantastic in that purple dress, I think she's lost some weight since leaving campus as well.

I swear my cheeks hurt after watching each of the 14 eliminated contestants and then the top four reveal their new bodies tonight. I was smiling from ear to ear seeing how amazing everyone looked, and how proud of their accomplishments they were. Kae still rocks my world. And how cute was Jerry when he ripped off his shirt after finding out he lost 110 pounds? Love him. Some of them really looked like completely different people, and after watching a huge portion of their journey to get here, I feel really satisfied and happy for them. Even Neil.

But it was Jim who topped the weight loss with a whopping 186 pounds and 51.52 percent of his original self. That is just insane!

Out of the remaining four, I had a feeling the winner would end up being Bill, but I was still secretly hoping a woman could pull it off. I certainly didn't expect Julie to beat both Hollie and Isabeau, but regardless, all three ladies just looked gorgeous. Bill lost 164 pounds and 49.10 percent of his body, and gained $250,000. Lucky guy. The fact that he and his brother were able to stand side by side and fit across his old pair of pants was unbelievable.

So what did you all think? Did the live two-hour finale live up to your expectations or were you hoping for a different Loser winner?

Well, friends, it's been real. Thanks for all your comments and for reading mine! Have a happy and healthy new year.

Let's hear it for the Black Team!

Congratulations to Bill, Julie, Hollie and Isabeau. They've each worked tremendously hard and overcome so much to get here. It's pretty satisfying watching these four make it to the finale because they are what The Biggest Loser is all about. Jillian certainly has a lot to be proud of, she really helped change these people's lives. Not to say that Bob and Kim didn't because they certainly kick butt in their own ways. But Jillian kept that Black Team alive and kicking for 14 weeks straight and it was so great watching her push them to their limits and give them the confidence they needed. Seeing her emotional goodbyes with the remaining four was really touching, especially seeing them face the cut-outs of their former selves. And that folks, is what we call feel-good TV.

What a difference a one-hour show versus a two-hour one makes, huh? When the weigh-in began tonight, my roommate and I both said, "Already?" at the same time. It had only been 23 minutes, which felt a little rushed, but at the same time I hate how many recaps and look-back slow-mo montages they show. Maybe next year the show should be an hour and half instead of dragging it out or speeding through. And maybe a few less Wrigley's Gum and Quaker's Oatmeal cameos. Just a thought.

So I'm sure we all had the same thought when Julie stepped on that scale and lost eight pounds, therefore pushing Neil below the yellow line with Hollie: he's a goner! It's not that I wish ill thoughts upon Neil, I do commend his hard work to lose 165 pounds, and as Allison pointed out – he lost double digits in nine out of 14 weeks. Of course, let's not forget one of those weeks he gained double digits. But it wasn’t only that he played the game dirty and stabbed people in the back, he was just too arrogant for my taste and I wasn't too broken up over watching him leave campus. Apparently that feeling was mutual among the Black Team as not a single one of them got up to say bye to him.

One more week and we'll finally know who the Biggest Loser is. There's a 75 percent chance it will be a girl – which will be awesome since there has never been one. Bill could pull it off, but the odds are working against him. I won't be surprised if it's Isabeau. She already became the female who's lost the most pounds while on the show in BL history, I'm putting my money on her becoming the first female Biggest Loser. Any takers?

And then there were five!

Who would have thought 13 weeks ago when the season began and all those people who weren't picked for the Blue or Red teams would end up holding the majority in the end. With Bryan's exit last week and Nicole's this week, Neil is the only non-Black team member left and it's pretty obvious he'll be the next to go if he falls below the yellow line. Luckily for Neil he's a weight-losing machine and will probably be ok next week. But I'm really sick of his "I know I'm a threat and I'm not scared of anyone of you" speech he gives every week in the elimination room.

I read through all your comments and agree that there aren't really any players left to root for. In past seasons there have always been a few left in the end that you wanted to see succeed and to win the game and we were reminded of all those people tonight in the transformations segments coming back from commercial breaks. (Yay Suzie!) I think at this point Bill is my favorite to win, or maybe Isabeau. It's still such a shame that we lost such great contestants early in the game (Jerry and Phil) and that Kae had to leave a couple weeks ago. I can't wait to see how all the booted off contestants look at the finale!

So on to tonight's episode, it was a great idea to have the contestants wake up early to squeeze in a work out before work, and learning how to pack snacks and lunches (Thank you, Ziploc!) That was such torture for them to work at a pizzeria but impressive none of them tried to sneak a slice in. In fact, the place they were at (Stone Fire Pizza) is actually around the corner from my apartment and their pizza is damn good, so nice work to the contestants.

The boxing bag/trampoline challenge looked hard! I was feeling exhausted just watching them. But compared to last week's hanging on a pole challenge I was glad they were actually doing something to help them in their weight loss. That was probably the most interesting part of the episode, I have to admit I fast-forwarded through a lot of the recap montages of how far the remaining contestants have come this season since we see it week after week after week. The good news is next week's episode is only one hour, but I'm guessing they'll drag out the finale into two-hours. My guess: Neil, Bill, Isabeau and Hollie will be the remaining four to duke it out for the grand prize.

Looks like Bryan's elimination tonight made Biggest Loser history. It was the first time an entire team had been eliminated before going to the finale, but I think that's an unfair statistic seeing as there have never been three teams before. So an entire team not lasting to the finale wasn't as likely to happen in past seasons, but we know this show and how it loves to make history so, there you have it.

Anyway it was sad to see B go but he knew his time would eventually run out since he was a such a weight-loss threat and he had no more Red Team allies. Congratulations to him losing 118 pounds and I won't be surprised if he ends up being the Biggest Loser out of the eliminated players. I'm going to miss the time Kim and Bryan spent together, they had such a great relationship like the way Kae and Bob did. Does this mean Kim is gone the rest of the season?

There's a great drinking game somewhere in these elimination scenes: for each time someone describes the contestant they voted for as having "integrity," or starts off with "This was a really tough choice this week, Allison", you take a shot. Or I suppose in the spirit of the show, you could do a sit up, and by the end of the season have abs of steel. It's got to be hard for them to give the same speech week after week and they're probably encouraged to go on and on so the audience is confused about who they're voting for, but come on.

The whole part with Nicole chipping her teeth in the pool was quite amusing. Obviously I'm glad she's ok but it was funny watching everyone trying to hold their breath and look for her tooth underwater.

Also entertaining was seeing all those old challenges from previous seasons and finding out that fans got to vote for tonight's challenge. It took me three times of rewinding but I got it: the Wrigley's Poles Over Water Extra-Long-Lasting Challenge. Nice work to Bill for staying on the pole the longest and winning that awesome vacation. Andre Agassi — random?

It was also so great to see the doctors speak about how much everyone's health has improved. The physical changes have been obvious for each one of these contestants — especially in their faces, but hearing how their blood pressure and cholesterol have moved into normal numbers and how they’ve added years to their lives was really important for them.

Now it's down to the remaining six. The finale is set for December 18 so who do you all think will be the final four?

Well tonight was quite the emotional episode, wasn't it? There have only been a couple moments this season where I found myself tearing up in comparison with previous seasons. But with the makeovers, surprise reunions with loved ones, and Kae being eliminated, there were plenty of tears to go around.

Like Allison said, it was ironic to say that Kae was not the Biggest Loser, seeing as how she'd lost the most percentage of any woman in the show's history. But Kae had so much to be proud of and had an amazing journey in her 10 weeks so I do feel like she's walking off as a winner. She had always been one of the biggest threats — if not the biggest on campus — and a lot of people wanted her gone. They never got the chance though, since Kae continued to pull big numbers every week and never fell below the yellow line. She didn’t even fall below the yellow line when hanging from a rope in the challenge and totally deserved to win the $5,000 shopping spree. And she also won the cover of Prevention magazine. Kae rocks my world.

Well I'm glad they incorporated the whole live weigh-in and we got to see Kae in present day. That girl is teeny-tiny! And how cute was her mother when she kept repeating, "You're my daughter?" I also loved her reunion with Bob at the weigh-in. He reminded her that she was what this show was all about. I couldn't have said it better myself. Neil and Amy, are you listening?

Having the contestants check out their made-over selves in a three-way mirror only to reveal their loved ones on the other side was just such a sweet part of the show tonight. Whether it was a wife, husband, mother or friend, everyone was just so happy and proud and shocked at the amazing results.

The little cross-promotion with Days of our Lives was slightly cheesy but I know the contestants were ecstatic about it so I won't dish on it too much. Oh, and speaking of which, the Wrigley's gum promotion tonight was just ridiculous. Subway — fine, they do have a wide range of healthy food options to offer so that sponsorship is understandable. But gum? I'm assuming Kim felt so silly telling Bryan that he can relieve stress by chewing gum. You mean that's better than taking out your stress on the treadmill?

So is everyone looking forward to gaining seven pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year's? Wow, some of those facts in the trivia were pretty scary (You'd have to walk 3 miles to work off one serving of mashed potatoes and gravy! One serving of cranberry sauce has the same amount of sugar as eight donuts!) but as always, very useful. I'm pretty surprised somewhere in the two hours they didn’t have a segment in the kitchen showing low-fat ideas for holiday meals. Hmm, it would probably have had too many sponsors to name. And on that note, happy Thanksgiving everyone!

If the Grand Canyon were actually covered in peanut butter, I have a feeling a whole lot more people would be hiking to the bottom. I know that sounded really random, but if you pay attention to the trivia before the commercial breaks about 700 million pounds of peanut butter, you'll get it. I must say the trivia questions are a good way to keep me distracted by the insane number of commercials in these really long two-hour Biggest Loser episodes.

Anyway, so we all knew this day was coming and that Amy's luck had to run out eventually. I'm really surprised she managed to make it this far because she was always the one who I never believed really wanted to be there. It should be interesting to see if they show next week how Kim reacts to Amy's elimination. Well first, of course, she'll be ecstatic that Bryan survived another week and that she still has a job! That showdown between Kim and Amy tonight was pretty catty — on both sides.

At first I thought it was a bit out of character for Neil to do the right thing and encourage the Black Team girls to keep Bryan and say he was the more deserving one. But then it was obvious he was just trying to keep a guy around so he'd be able to knock out all the girls eventually. And it was pretty amusing when he told them Amy has stabbed each one of them in the back. Can we say "pot calling the kettle black" much? He just can't be trusted.

A few congratulations are in order for some of the contestants tonight: Bill for both reaching a 100-pound weight loss and for winning the $5,000 temptation challenge, Hollie who rocked the swim part of the triathlon and pulled off the win, and Kae for never giving in to any temptation challenge. (And an anti-congratulations once again to the show for an unnecessary waste of food.) Of course, Kae also deserves recognition for dominating the bicycling and running part of the triathlon, too. She continues to amaze me week after week and I would love to see her win the whole thing as the Biggest Loser.

I was so happy for Hollie and Julie getting a 24-hour period at home, but it was tough seeing them both lose zero pounds. It was very motivational to see that Julie's husband was also losing weight at home and that Hollie was able to get her overweight friend to work out.

I can't wait to see the makeovers next week!

Anyone else find it a bit ironic that this very special green episode of The Biggest Loser featured 132 bags of chips, 456 coffee cups, 300 ice cream containers, 180 pizza boxes and 504 hamburger containers for no use whatsoever? Really, what was the point of all that waste?

Besides that, NBC does deserve some recognition for having this whole "Green Is Universal" campaign and incorporating little ways everyone can help our planet Earth. And what a coincidence that it's the first week of November sweeps. No, I'm kidding, I really do think it's great that they're showing how easy it is to make a difference. Who would have known that you can still work out on a treadmill without even using electricity?

So the big shake-up of the week was when the trios were dissolved and new duos were formed: Nicole and Neil, Ryan and Isabeau, Julie and Bill, Hollie and Bryan, and Kae and Amy. At first I felt bad for Kae getting stuck with Amy, especially after Kae went for a jog while Amy napped on the couch. And you all know I'm not a huge fan of Amy's, but she did bust her butt during the challenge. Maybe she did it to win the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid? Could Allison have said the name of the car a few more times? We get it, thanks!

And it was pretty obvious Julie and Bill were going to end up winning the challenge since they showed Julie saying how badly she wanted to win and how she had to sacrifice so much to be a stay-at-home mom. But it was still very exciting for the two of them to win that prize. I loved when Jillian was begging the Black Team to tell her the prize was immunity.

Speaking of trainers, it was really interesting to see Kim get mad at Bryan for not eating enough. One of the biggest misconceptions people have in losing weight is to cut back on eating, or in some cases stop eating altogether. So I'm glad she was able to remind him that a healthy lifestyle involves a lot of eating, it's just eating the right things that's the tricky part.

A big congratulations to all 10 contestants this week as they each lost at least five pounds or more. It's all been so random each week, with some people losing double digits and some losing only one pound (whether on purpose or not). And it was hard to be happy for only some people seeing results while others were frustrated week after week, so it was refreshing to see huge smiles on everyone's faces. I still found myself mad at Neil and didn't want to root on his 18-pound loss. But it was actually pretty cool to hear he's accomplished what only four contestants in BL history have by losing 100 pounds before going home.

Then again, Neil did vote for his friend and former teammate Ryan, so he's obviously still trying to manipulate the game. So goodbye to Ryan but hello to a great new body! His baby girl was so adorable, and it was so sweet seeing how proud his family was of him. Only nine more to go…

Is it mean that I was actually happy no one clapped when Neil lost 33 pounds? He totally lost my respect last week and quite obviously lost the respect of most of the contestants. And his own trainer, too — Bob told him he didn't expect to see him still there. Even his own teammates were upset at the way things where handled. Poor Kae was so distraught over the drama, she packed up her stuff and decided to go home because the game just wasn't worth it.

Well I'm sure Kae was glad she decided to stick around because she proved at the end what a rock star she truly was. As if Bob telling her how much he believed in her and reminding her that she deserved to be there wasn't enough, her six-pound drop was a bigger percentage loss than Neil's 33 pounds. That's definitely something to be proud about.

Right before the teams went into the elimination room and had to choose between Kae, David and Holly, I was worried that Kae's continued success week after week in the game was going to end up hurting her and she'd be the one sent home. But, of course, once again, team loyalty decided the vote and it was David's turn to say his emotional goodbye. It was really sweet of him to encourage everyone to give it all they've got and how each of them played a part in him changing his life. Even more emotional was seeing David reunite with his family and how his wife was able to wrap her arms around his whole body. And I loved when David said he would be a "handsome devil with smoking guns." He did look great after a 105-pound loss!

It wasn't really that surprising when Amy revealed to Jillian she threw last week's weigh-in because Neil "pressured" her to. Again, I don't want to sound mean, but I can't seem to find it in me to root for her. It wasn't even that impressive that she had her biggest loss so far (11 pounds) because she pretty much cheated last week. No, there are no actual rules that you have to lose weight each week to stay in the game, but most of us agree that it's not necessarily fair.

But alas, it is a game, and by now we've gotten used to people finding ways to get around the system instead of trying to beat it. Case in point: Isabeau knowing that Neil would lose enough weight to save their team, and purposely losing zero pounds so that she'd have a big number next week. It should be really interesting to see what happens once all teams are completely dissolved and it's every man and woman for themselves. Let's see how far sneaky strategies can actually go.

I'm speechless.

Really, I don't even know what to say. I can't wait to read what all of you have to say because I'm guessing you're all in shock, too. Yes, we've already been stunned a number of times this season — when Jerry was sent home, when the Red Team let the Blue Team decide to send Phil home, when Kim cursed at David, just to name a few. But what Neil pulled off tonight — and wasn't eliminated for it — just leaves me speechless.

The show is called The Biggest Loser, right? How could someone extremely overweight come on a show to lose weight and want to win the game so bad that he's willing to pack on 17 pounds? And then to continuously deny the accusations in front of everyone, only to whisper "It wasn't supposed to be that obvious, (bleep)!" with that devious smile into the camera? I don't watch other reality competition shows like Survivor or Big Brother, but I know that plenty of this kind of conniving and dirty game playing goes on. I've just never seen it on BL in the three seasons I've watched and never really expected to.

That being said, it was a huge disappointment to see Jez sent home. He was a genuine and sweet person with the best intentions. I was really happy when he won the poker temptation game and got the power to pick teams (especially since he beat Amy — more on her later). And to see how upset and deceived Jez felt about Neil's plan and how he didn't even have any motivation to work out, it just broke my heart when the last trio voted for him. There were only three former Blue Team contestants voting so I thought for sure they were outnumbered and Neil would get the boot. But with the way the new trios were formed, Blue was spread over two groups and they actually got their wish. It should be really interesting to see how everyone else treats Neil, Kae, Ryan and Nicole next week.

Bob summed it up perfectly when yelling at Neil and his teammates: "I am so [bleep] mad I cannot even see straight now."

How come the trainers weren't at weigh-in this week? I would have loved to see Kim's face when Amy got on the scale and lost zero pounds. Not that I wish any of these contestants won’t succeed, but Amy was kind of being a brat to Kim when Kim clearly had the best intentions for her team. She was the only one who switched to a new trainer when the teams split up. It was funny that Amy thought training with Jillian would be easier — can she not hear Jillian's insane yelling in the gym?

This week's Weight Control Oatmeal product placement wasn’t as over-the-top as last week's Wrigley's Gum. Bob has done quite a lot of product-name dropping — I wonder if he gets a special deal? That would be nice. But as funny as they are to watch because they feel so scripted, they're actually part of the awesome way the show gives out tips on healthy living. Now if only Neil understood that.

And now, your thoughts.

Wow, what an emotional episode of The Biggest Loser tonight. From Holly's mother passing away to the Red Team's home videos and then Phil's tearful goodbye at elimination, there was quite a lot to take in. Not to mention the drama between Kim and David and then Kim throwing Amy under the bus (as Amy put it). So much happening, and this was the episode they chose to return to the 60-minute format?

On a much lighter note, last week one of you commented on something I've been meaning to mention, too: the hilarious and obvious product placement. Yes, sponsors need to be shown love on the shows they provide for (especially common on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition). We see it a lot on BL (I'm talking about you, 24 Hour Fitness, Subway and 100-calorie Packs) but there was just something so rehearsed and silly about Jillian's "My favorite is Wrigley Extra's Super Mint Gum." I was just waiting for everyone in the kitchen to pop a piece of gum and wink at the camera.

So back to the important stuff. It wasn't easy watching Holly find out about her mother's illness and then hearing her mother had passed away. It's moments like that you don't expect on reality shows, moments that remind you of how real these people actually are. Jillian showed her softer side by comforting Holly and I'm glad Holly was still able to weigh in and contribute to her team before she left. Holly always had a good spirit about her and I hope she's able to continue her weight-loss journey if she doesn't return to the BL campus.

Losing Phil was a huge blow to the Red Team. I'm really surprised Bryan voted against him and not Amy, sending the vote into a tie and thus resulting in the Blue Team getting to decide who went home. And it was so obvious they would pick Phil. Although it wasn't that cool of Kim to clearly imply that Phil, Bryan and David vote off Amy while Amy was sitting right there, she was right. It was the same thing with Jerry — Phil had won every challenge for the Red Team and pulled in huge numbers. I know they considered his weight loss a threat, but how could they think they'll win any more challenges? In the meantime, Phil looked fantastic after losing another 46 pounds at home, bringing his total so far to 108. I can't wait to see the finale and see how much more weight everyone's lost.

And what was up with Kim and David's crazy fight? I felt bad for everyone else in the gym because it seemed so uncomfortable watching from home, I can't imagine how tense it must have felt like there. David told Kim to shut up repeatedly and threatened that she'd "lose a finger," but she came back with "no you're not (bleep), you work out where I (bleep) tell you to work out." Not sure who the winner in that exchange of mean words was, but I wish we could have seen the next time they had to interact. Did they make peace or will they continue to be mad at each other?

Guess we'll find out next time. For now, keep the great comments coming and go check out our Online Video Guide.

After spending all that money to send 14 contestants, three trainers, a host and who even knows how many crew members all the way to Jamaica, you would think they would spend more than just half an hour showing the trip. I would have liked to see more temptations faced on vacation, but it was great to see how many options there are to work out outside of the gym, from yoga on the beach to water aerobics in the pool. And nice work to all of you who predicted a vacation would be the huge twist we've been promised for the last few weeks!

This may sound kind of mean, but I couldn't help but giggle each time Phil and Ryan fell off their rafts into the water during the challenge. I guess it's not that mean since their own teammates were laughing, too. On top of it, the Black Team dominated by just cruising on by them one by one and ultimately won the challenge.

Sadly, winning the challenge didn't help the Black Team enough and they lost the weigh-in for the very first time this season. I know the Red and Blue teams were happy to be safe for another week and that the Black Team finally got a taste of the horrible process of eliminating a teammate. Jillian's face said it all. Poor girl isn't used to losing, but it had to happen soon or later. It's really interesting to see how one week someone can only lose one pound and come back the following week with an 11-pound loss. Just goes to show everyone out there that the body works in mysterious ways and not to give up.

It's been five weeks since the show started and I'm already seeing such a difference in these contestants, especially in their faces. I actually feel like I know them all personally and am so proud to see how their hard work has been paying off.

And what kind of reality competition show would this be without a little side dish of drama? I was a little surprised to see how quickly they were able to turn against each other after coming together to win the challenge. But ultimately it came down to the biggest threat and Jim was sent home with four out of six votes. Of course, it was a bit emotional for Bill to lose his brother, especially after Allison brought up the fact that it was the twins' birthday the next day and that they've spent every birthday together since sharing a womb. But Jim did look amazing back home, after losing a total of 123 pounds since starting the show.

On a final note, I just have to say: I still miss Jerry.

All that anticipation built up from last week to see the huge game-changing twist and we still have no answers. Well, we do know that the campus will be closing, and the dorms, kitchen, and gym will be off-limits, but now what?

It was really touching how building self-confidence seemed to be the running theme tonight. I think it's amazing that the trainers not only teach a healthy lifestyle but also push their contestants to believe in themselves so they can make that change. I mean, anyone can tell you that eating fast food every day isn't going to help you lose weight, but when an overweight person with low self-esteem is forced to say "I'm worth it" over and over, it hits home much harder. That's something that can be applied to anything you want in life: Just believe you can do it, right? I love Biggest Loser for being my guilty-pleasure show but also my feel-good show!

Speaking of the trainers, it's also fun to see Bob, Kim and Jillian more involved this season — being at all the challenges and the weigh-ins. I don't think the Black and Red teams would have been able to run down that hill and back up with the flag as fast as they did without Jillian and Kim yelling at them along the way and literally pulling them to the finish line. It was very impressive that none of them even came close to eating a cupcake to score their team 15-second lead in the challenge. Please tell me those delicious-looking cupcakes didn’t go to complete waste and a lucky cameraman or producer got to enjoy them.

A few other thoughts:

• Thanks to Bob for taking his team to Subway and showing how you can still eat healthily on a low budget. And for explaining the difference between red-wine vinegar and vinaigrette. That's something I am definitely going to keep in mind next time I'm at Subway (which I admit is at least twice a week since, well, it's healthy and cheap!)

• Jillian cracked me up when the Black Team showed off clothes they weren’t able to fit into before and pretended to get choked up before yelling, "No I'm not, shut up!"

• I'm surprised and a bit disappointed we didn't get to see Bob's reaction to his team sending Jerry home.

• Too bad the Blue Team lost another person two weeks in a row, but as always with other eliminated players, it was great to see Patty's success at home. Congrats to the Black Team for being the only team to still have all its teammates — I won't be surprised if the Biggest Loser ends up being one of them.

So will we finally find out about this mysterious twist? Any more thoughts on what it could be?

Jerry, don't go!

Blue Team, how could you? Shame on you for voting off the oldest contestant in Biggest Loser history, the one who pulled in the biggest numbers at weigh-in and who's your captain — the one who took a chance on you to join his team. Big mistake. Huge.

In case it's not obvious, I was really disappointed to see Jerry go home, especially after he reminded his team about loyalty and respect. Too bad his guilt trips didn't quite work. I know the Blue Team members were confident that Jerry would be able to continue on his own at home, but this early in the game, I just don't think it's wise to send home one the strongest competitors and a true leader. If it had been any other of the contestants that fell during the piggyback exercise, they would have made a huge fuss (see: Bill screaming at the top of his lungs at Isabeau) and used it as an excuse not to work out.

Alas, Jerry did continue at home, and my jaw dropped when I saw how skinny he looked! It was so sweet seeing him beaming with pride over his 88-pound loss and doing those push-ups as if he were 16 years old rather than 62.

I understand why Patty and Nicole cried when they revealed they had voted for Jerry, but why did Kae cry that hard when she made a mistake voting for Nicole?

By the way, a note to the producers/editors: Is it really necessary to dedicate a full seven minutes at the top of the show to recap the last two episodes and previous seasons (which we just saw in the premiere two weeks ago)?

It was nice to finally see the Red Team in good spirits. As they should be, with their first win at the weigh-in, winning the race challenge against the "yellow team" (how cute was Cooper the kindergartner?), and thanks to Phil, a phone call home to significant others and children. Cue tears.

Pretty impressive that only a few people gave in to temptation in the secluded room of delicious high-calorie treats. Of course, Neil and Patty each did it because they thought they were taking one for the team. This show isn't really known for having too many comedic moments but I definitely laughed out loud with Bryan's "Hot Wings, oh it's been a long time" and Jez running in place while downing a slice of pizza.

So any thoughts on the big twist coming up next week?

Read Episode Recap: "Meet the Black Team"
A big congratulations to everyone on the black team who felt so rejected last week and came back strong by losing the most weight of the week. Jillian looked so excited she was about to burst, and her team certainly deserved that win after those crazy workouts she put them through!

It was fantastic seeing the blue and red teams' reactions when they saw the black team waiting in the weigh-in room, although I have to wonder if Bob and Kim really didn't know about that twist. Bob seemed genuinely excited and surprised when he picked up Jillian for a hug, but I just question how "real" reality shows are done. Regardless, it's fun to watch all three teams compete face-to-face now, and it should be interesting to see how the challenges will play out.

Who knew it would take 8,000 jumping jacks to burn off a pint of ice cream? And that a 22-ounce milkshake had more calories than a double bacon cheeseburger? I certainly enjoyed the trivia going out of commercial breaks and all the healthy eating tips the trainers provide. You gotta love a show that entertains and educates.

And occasionally makes you cry. I knew it was bound to happen soon enough. For me it was the moment that Patty broke down in tears when she completed her workout and Bob kept repeating, "How proud are you? How proud are you?" It's just amazing to see how good people can feel about themselves when they push themselves and to see how much support they get. I also thought it was really sweet of Bob to sit down with Amy, who wasn’t even on his team, and encourage her to keep going. While Kim and Jillian have more of a tougher mental approach in their workout regimens (like Jillian yelling "kick her hard and make her cry!"), it's really nice to know all three of the trainers truly care about these contestants.

When it came down to sending home a member of the losing red team for the second week in a row, I'm surprised no one voted for Amy, who had a bit of a bad attitude in the gym and even walked out on the last-chance workout. It's always sad to see someone go when they haven't reached their goals yet, but I'm happy to hear Lezlye continued her success and lost 55 pounds at home.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your personal weight-loss stories and to all the other comments about the show. Keep them coming!
