The Biggest Loser: Couples
by
Robyn Ross
I cannot explain how excited I was for tonight’s episode which surely did not disappoint. In the first 5 minutes we found out that Roger won America’s vote to be in the final 3 which left Mark to weigh-in with the at home contestants. While some appeared to have done better than others I’m not going to be negative since they’ve all undeniably accomplished a great deal. With that said, here are a few notes on the reveals. Amanda looked fabulous. Mallory and Curtis were one hot couple. Jackie and Dan continued their success at home because they looked great as well. Trent just makes me smile. Bernie was adorable as usual and Brittany was gorgeous. And Paul couldn’t make the finale because he was ill. Ali immediately called Mark out on all his crying this season. He made a point to say that getting voted out and then having the chance to come back made him realize how great of an opportunity it was and that he wasn’t going to get wrapped up in game-play. Mark wanted to finally tackle the issues of why he was heavy. When Ali asked Bernie if it was about the money for him he said no. I agree, I don’t think anyone goes on this show for the money. Then it was time to flashback and watch the remaining contestants go home. Ali was bursting with joy. Her mom was crying and said it was worth all the humiliation she had to go through, she meaning Bette-Sue. Gotta love her. Kelly goes home next and is beaming. Her mom was not prepared for this confident woman with a new lease on life. Roger returns to his wife, son and friends who are going to support him to the finish line. Bob and Jillian came out on stage for the at-home contestant weigh-in. Here’s how everyone did (pounds lost then percentage loss). Jenni- 54 pounds, 20.22%. Lynn- 80, 19.56. Mallory- 65, 29.95. Curtis- 150, 39.37. And Curtis was able to qualify for health insurance! Amanda- 64, 31.37. Neil- 88, 27.76. Bette-Sue- 75, 28.74. Jen- 64, 25.20. Maggie- 70, 29.29. Jackie- 89, 36.18. Dan- 136, 43.87. Trent- 135, 30.96. Bernie- 130, 45.94. Brittany- 57, 25.79. Jay- 103, 35.15. Mark- 129, and then I couldn’t see his percentage with all the excitement over Bernie winning the $100,000 prize. Mark lost out by 1 pound! I sort of feel like after all he’s been through on campus that he deserved it but I’m so ecstatic for Bernie. Back at home all three finalists are facing some troubles. Ali has been struggling and self-sabotaging because she’s scared. Kelly has a herniated disk and Roger has hit a plateau. But then they begin to progress. Roger is involved in a “healthy buddy” program that has him bringing the kids Subway. (More product placement). Ali is fighting for that first female Biggest Loser title and Kelly is back on her feet. Cut to the live finale. Though Kelly started as the heaviest female on campus, today she looks wonderful. She’s scared to weigh-in but knows she gave it her all. Ali is so tiny and toned it’s unreal. As Roger steps on the scale we take a look back at his journey. He started at 363 pounds and is now down to 199, losing 164 pounds and 45.18%. Kelly started on campus weighing 271 pounds and is now down to 162 for a loss of 109 total pounds, 40.22%. Though she didn’t win the prize she’s happy with her personal victory. Ali weighs in last. She started the show at 234 pounds and with a weight-loss of 112 pounds, she now weighs 122! With a percentage loss of 47.86 Ali has claimed the Biggest Loser title and has finally done it for the women! This has been another inspiring season of The Biggest Loser. Thanks for reading! Well kids, it’s week 15 and we’re just about at the home stretch. Jay being eliminated leaves Mark, Roger, Ali and Kelly in the final four. We saw many flashbacks to day 1 tonight and it’s unreal how much weight they’ve all lost. There will be no trainers for this final week but instead Rocco DiSpirito is visiting the campus. Hearing Roger talk about his mama’s pepper steak was hilarious and what a great idea to have chef Rocco come and make their favorite meals but as healthy versions. I have to say his dishes looked mouth-watering. This week’s challenge was similar to the past seasons’ final challenges where the contestants had to carry the weight they lost on their backs. This time it came in the form of a body suit with an extremely advantageous prize. Not only would the winner get $10,000, but they’d receive the “Biggest Loser Diet Plan” of prepared, delivered meals. It’s amazing how The Biggest Loser has truly become a brand full of work-out videos (I happen to own one), cook-books, and now a meal delivery program. Once again Mark wins, but all felt pretty cathartic shedding the body suits which stood for their previous selves. Ali tells the contestants that she has a surprise to motivate and help them reflect. Each person sees their individual video montage from week 1 until now. It’s a great mix of sadness from where they were and achievement from where they are today. After seeing Ali's, Jillian tells her she's sure she's the one to win and I think she could be right. At the weigh-in, Roger goes first. He loses an astounding 15 pounds to break the record of the biggest weightloss on campus in BL history. Mark then loses 12 and I’m scared for my girls. Ali stands on scale and cannot look skinnier. Honestly, how tiny will she be at the finale if she already looks this small? As her number is juggling on the scale, I’m going “no way,” and then she hits an 11 pound loss and I am baffled. She’s 135 pounds and well on her way to being the female Biggest Loser and if not that, at least one hot chica. Ali also breaks a record by losing more weight than any other woman in BL history. Kelly then loses 12 pounds to get her into the finale and I have goose bumps! I’m so happy for the girls. The big twist this week was no surprise to viewers at home. We all knew that the 3rd person to go to the finale would be chosen by America. While I think this actually helps Roger because people like him and want to root for him, I think if he makes it to the finale he could beat the girls. Before they head home, they get the ritual cardboard cut-out of themselves from week 1. The final four reflect with their trainer but then put on their nice clothes and heads home, ready to take the next step in their journey towards a better life. They all look and feel amazing and just as they enter the doors to their life beyond the campus, we’re cut off and I’m left anxious to see what happens next week. So who are you going to vote for? I’m personally torn as I like Roger more than Mark, but want Kelly or Ali to win! Any predictions for the at-home Biggest Loser? To catch up before the finale, head to our Online Video Guide

This week was unlike any other Biggest Loser episode we’ve seen. The 5 remaining contestants were taken to Australia to compete for a week in what Bob told us is the 2nd most overweight country after the US. When they arrive, they’re met by their trainers. Ali introduces “Uncle Max” who then leads them in a traditional Aboriginal smoking ceremony meant to rid their troubles and bring them luck. As they take it all in, Ali gets emotional, realizing how lucky they are to be there. Next they move into The Biggest Loser Australia house which is a nice upgrade from the campus. Getting ready to go out, Ali has trouble being confident in her new clothes and feels she still needs to work on certain areas. I have to say she looks fabulous and hopefully once she watches herself on tape, she’ll feel fabulous. Bob and Jillian take the gang to dinner and dancing to show them how to go out but not kill their diet. They continue this the next day by going to a local farmer’s market to see alternatives to hotel food and city restaurants. Of course, hilarity ensues. Back at the house, Kelly gets a knock on her door. It’s Adro, the Australian Biggest Loser. What a cutie! He takes the group to lunch and shows them his before photos and its hard to believe that it’s the same guy. He goes on to speak about his life-changing “jump off a tree” moment during his season and though it’s a bit far-fetched, the message shines through. The challenge this week is the toughest yet. Before they even begin, they climb the Sidney Harbor Bridge and boy is it high at the top. Ali finishes the the first leg in the lead with Mark close behind her. Jay is in third, Kelly’s behind him and Roger is no where to be seen. Mark is able to pass Ali during the running section, but when she reaches the top of the building she sees him there waiting. Mark decided they should finish the race together. Jay finishes soon after and when Roger arrives, they all go back down a few flights to support Kelly and finish as one. And once again, Mark starts crying. I think we could make a drinking game out of his emotions! At the Australian weigh-in, Jay is up first and is disappointed to learn that he has gained a pound. Could this be a bad sign for everyone? NBC news cut in so I missed Ali’s weigh-in but apparently she did well. Roger loses 2 pounds to go below his high school weight. Kelly loses 1 pound which she’s sure isn’t enough to keep her safe. Fortunately for her, Mark gained a pound to go below the line with his brother. I’m happy that Kelly is safe, I’d like to see her in the finals. In what could be a tough deliberation, Jay decides to make it easier on his friends and volunteers to go home. An emotional elimination round comes to an end and the remaining contestants are ready to head back to their home campus. But we couldn’t possibly end without a twist, as they find out their trainers won’t be there when they arrive. Any last predictions for final three? Who should America vote to keep in? Let’s hear it for the girls! Finally we had a week where the boys’ alliance would be broken up. Coming off of Brittany’s elimination, Allie and Kelly had to pull together. Jillian was distraught over losing her trainee and friend and was ready to get the girls in gear. On the Blue team side, Bob was not happy that Jay only lost 3 pounds and tried to drill it in their heads how important eating enough carbs were. Unexpectedly, Ali called the players to the elimination room to inform them that losing weight wasn’t just about diet and exercise, but about knowledge as well. She donned her glasses and explained that she would be giving everyone a pop quiz. No-one bats an eye-lash at the first question but the second one trips up Mark, Ali and Kelly. The third and final question leaves Dan a winner. His prize? A ginormous piece of chocolate cake. With this came the first twist of the night. He had to keep his cake intact and bring it to the challenge in order to gain an advantage. This week’s challenge continued along the “knowledge” theme. The players had to load up the others’ tables with food, guessing which had the most calories. In the end, whoever’s table had the least amount of calories, would win $10,000. Not a shocker, the boys ganged up on the girls and loaded their tables with food. And Dan’s advantage for still having the cake with him? He got to put it on anyone’s table. In the end, Jay wins the money as he has the least amount of caloric content on his table. Twist #2 suddenly presents itself and he’s given the option of using the money to buy a 1 pound pass. At the weigh-in, we learn that Jay has decided to opt for the 1 pound. He loses 5, which makes his total 6. Roger also loses 6. Dan, who admits he sort of slacked off at the challenge this week, only loses 1. Mark loses 4 and Ali loses 6. She also breaks a record for being the woman to lose the most weight on campus in history. Kelly then loses 7 putting her and Ali in the 1 and 2 spot. Dan and Mark fall below the yellow line and finally the boys must turn against each other to vote one of their own out. With Jay clearly voting to keep Mark, Roger, Ali and Kelly decide Dan is the bigger threat and must go home. With only 5 people left, who do you think the final 4 will be? Would you have picked the money or the pass? And did anyone else wanna gag at how obvious the product placement was this week? To catch up on The Biggest Loser, visit our Online Video Guide

Continuing where last week’s episode left off, we find out whether it will be Brittany or Maggie who is voted out. Dan gets the ball rolling, using his 2 votes to send Maggie home. Everyone but Kelly follows suit leaving Maggie as the next person to exit the Biggest Loser campus. As usual, we get a glimpse as to how she's doing in the present, and not surprisingly, Maggie's doing great. With that, the episode has flown by, oh wait, it’s only just begun! The remaining players venture to Macy’s to get dressed for a Prevention Magazine shoot. And who better to style them, but Project Runway’s Tim Gunn. We even got a “make it work” as he sent the kiddies off to go play in the store. Roger goes for the wilder look and Tim’s face is pure terror. Kelly tries to go girly but ends up dowdy. Because we all know what happens when you leave the styling up to amateurs, Tim steps in and picks out an outfit to fit each person’s personality and style. He pulls out a dress for Ali and she's stunned that it’s her size. And I know you all think Dan is cocky, but I thought he was pretty funny talking about how he’d rock the runway better than everyone else. Tim reveals the hot little number he set aside for Brittany and you can tell she’s freaked out. First up on the runway was Mark. With his hand on his hip like I thought, he’s enjoying this way too much. Of course they surprised him with his wife which set off the waterworks. Jay looked completely different to me, I think it was the haircut, but nonetheless, a great improvement. And it was very sweet when he realized his wife was there and aww, seeing Tim wipe his tear warmed my heart. I have to say Kelly was un-recognizable, she looked fabulous, as did Ali, who sported a new, shorter do. Unfortunately the pampering and family time was over all too soon, and it was time for this week’s challenge which was all about endurance. The players had to stay on a treadmill raised above water and to make it even harder, they had to walk backwards. After about 40 minutes, which is impressive to say the least, Kelly dropped. Next was Roger, Dan and Brittany. Jay lasted almost an hour before giving up. Ali got so close but in the end, the challenge king Mark, won. At the weigh-in, Ali lost another 5 pounds. Mark, who only lost 3, was able to finally get his 100 pound weight loss. Dan redeemed himself from the previous week and lost 8 pounds, moving him into the 100 weight range. Brittany only lost 2 pounds and while she put on a happy face, Jillian didn’t deny her frustration. Roger lost 9 but Jay only lost 3. Kelly lost 3 as well, pushing Jay below the yellow line with Brittany. On the campus, some major strategizing was going on. The votes were pretty much decided unless Brittany could sway Dan to keep her there, which she argued would be beneficial to him in the end. He decided instead to vote with his alliance, forcing Brittany to become the next eliminated player. Though I would have liked to see her make it to the end, she did skate along farther than she should have. But all is well because she’s clearly keeping up her routine at home. She looks and feels wonderful and skydives her way to a new lease on life. With only Ali and Kelly, is there still a chance for this season to have its first female biggest loser? Or will the men pick them off one by one? As always, for more on The Biggest Loser, visit our Online Video Guide

They’re ba-ack. Tonight’s big twist was that all the previous eliminated contestants got one more chance to weigh-in and return to the campus. The top male and top female with the highest biggest percentages of weight-loss would re-enter the competition. Everyone did pretty well continuing their weight-loss at home. Jenni who was eliminated week 1 lost 38 pounds. Mallory lost 42. Amanda, who along with her husband had a lot to prove, lost 46 pounds. Once Ali stepped up to the scale all eyes were on her, but most in shock over how great she looked. Her mom Bette-Sue beamed with pride as she lost a total of 67 pounds. Although many of the contestants weren’t skinny by any imagination, seeing their first week pictures made me realize how far they’ve all come and how much they’ve accomplished in just 10 weeks. Bette-Sue and Jen lost 49 and 48 respectively, while Jackie lost 67, just under the amount she needed to beat out Ali and return to the competition. Over on the men’s side Lynn, who basically asked to be voted out in week 1, lost 64 pounds. Curtis lost an astounding 100 while Trent lost 105. Neil did pretty well for someone who seemed to not try hard at the ranch, and lost 55. Paul lost 70 and Mark, not surprisingly, lost 90. All I was thinking was how much I wanted Bernie to beat him out. But he fell short, losing 88 pounds, which wasn’t enough to return with Ali. So now we’re back to 8 players, and it feels like this season is never going to end. The black team is clearly not dealing with Bernie’s elimination well and adding Ali to the team, a friend to Blue, doesn’t help. Not to mention, Ali continues to wear Pink. At her first work-out since coming back, Jillian kicks her butt but she barely seems to break a sweat. Whatever she did to train at home has worked. This week’s challenge involved stationary bikes, which we’ve seen just about every season and I’m not going to go into much more detail as it was a snoozer. But I will mention that Dan won, his prize being 2 votes during the elimination. At the weigh-in, everyone is tense, especially Jillian. Allison starts questioning her girl Brittany which causes Jillian to just about lose it. Can we say awkward? Allison I’m sure was asking the questions that the producers told her to, but Jillian didn’t seem to care. Ali then steps on the scale and loses 7 pounds. Mark also loses 7 pounds. Though Dan only loses 4, lower than his usual number, he’s stays above the yellow line as Brittany only loses 2 and Maggie loses a whopping zero. As the show ends in its usual montage of the possible players to go, we’re left hanging, not knowing who will be voted out. So were you glad to see Mark and Ali return? Who do you think will be voted out, Brittany or Maggie? For more on The Biggest Loser, visit our Online Video Guide

Bernie’s gone! I usually don’t start off by commenting on the week’s eliminated player but this time, I feel it’s necessary. Bernie brought such humor to the campus and I would have loved to see him go all the way to the finals. Now that I've said that...the temptation challenge this episode provided was one we’ve all faced. I admit it, there are many a times when 3 o’clock rolls around and the dreaded vending machine looms in my mind. But not once have I ever gotten a pack a gum worth a thousand bucks, like Roger, Dan and Bernie who for them, the vending machine proved fruitful. I did enjoy watching Dan suffer through the many sweet and savory delights until he could utter, “That’s what I’m talking about.” For 5 of the contestants, the trip to the vending machine also provided a 1 pound pass to be used at the next weigh-in. Unfortunately for Kelly, she didn’t get either the cash or the pass. Bernie received his prized for being biggest loser of the week. After climbing the mountain it was revealed that, like in the earlier weeks, he’d get to choose between family, luxury, and game-play. A no-brainer, he chose game-play. Little did he know, his prize would be his demise. Another homage to the first week was their return trip to the hospital. Each person took many of the tests they did 10 weeks prior, only this time learning they were headed down the right path. For Kelly, her weight-loss meant a hopeful future that didn’t include miscarriages. For Roger, his sleep apnea had improved by 50%. They also had a special guest. Dr. Jeff from season 2 spoke about being an “obesity survivor.” Roger was so inspired he said he’d write a book about the healthy way to tailgate. Back on campus it was time for the challenge. Do you think going on a zip line across a ravine sounds fun? Well to most of the contestants it meant facing their fear of heights. Everyone, except Maggie who elected to be the Black member that had to sit out, excelled, leaving their terror in the dust. Blue was able to edge out Black, winning the prize of being fighter pilots for the day. At the weigh-in we knew something major was going to be revealed. (They had only previewed it a million times). It was time for teams to be dissolved and the yellow line to return. Before anyone stepped on the scale, they learned that Bernie had been able to grant immunity to anyone but himself, and that he chose Brittany as the recipient. She then weighed in and lost 5 pounds. Everyone continued to lose more than 5 pounds a piece with Roger hitting his 100 pound milestone. In the end, Bernie and Kelly fell below the yellow line, leaving no doubt that a Black team member would be leaving us. Due to his ability to pull big numbers, Blue decided Bernie’s fate was to leave the campus. Was everyone disappointed in this week’s outcome? Who should go next? What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but apparently this doesn’t translate to the scale. What a week for the Biggest Loser competitors. At the beginning of the episode, Jay received his prize for being the biggest loser of the week. As a twist he had to pick from 3 unmarked envelopes. When he opened his up, it said, “Vegas, baby, Vegas” which could only mean, road trip! The boys of the Blue team were headed to Vegas for one fun filled night of debauchery, and I guess a workout here and there as well. To my surprise and Bob’s delight, the moment the boys check-in to the hotel, they head straight for the gym. I guess if they got their workout done early then they’d have the whole night to have fun. When they got back to their rooms, “Bob” aka the producers, left suits for them so they’d get a taste of feeling like royalty. Black also left them a treat in the form of room service, hoping the greasy food and sweet desserts would appeal to their temptations. But alas they resisted and headed out for a night on the town. First they rode the slingshot ride at the Stratosphere and then resorted to gambling. A few hours in, the brothers decide to call it a night so that they can wake up early to workout. I guess that’s called dedication but I also like to call it, Boring! Dan and Roger live it up and don’t come home until 6 am. When Mark and Jay come back from the gym, they wake Dan up, who’s not happy about it having his sleep disrupted, and wake Roger up, who’s not happy they didn’t drag him to the gym. I do have to say that Roger was a trooper and headed there anyway, despite sleeping for just 3 hours. The short va-cay comes to an end but not before the little fraternity known as Blue goes to the tattoo parlor. Even though they mentioned it earlier I did not think they’d go through with it but all 4 boys return to the campus with new tattoos. Back to reality, or at least Biggest Loser reality, and it’s time for the challenge. It’s an obstacle course, which doesn’t excite Black, especially Kelly. They lagged behind Blue the entire competition leading to another Blue victory and this time, an all expenses paid trip to Puerto Rico. What a week to be a winner. Jillian kicks some Brittany booty during the last chance work-out, as she hasn’t been able to pull a large number and right now it’s their only hope to stay in the game. They weigh in first and do very well. Kelly loses 6, Maggie 8, Brittany 6 and Bernie 10. They were finally able to breathe a bit easier knowing it would take a lot for Blue to reach a higher percentage. Though the boys fare pretty well, Mark hits a slump by only losing 1 pound. They certainly have a tough deliberation ahead as Dan has immunity and the brothers are an alliance. Mark finally decides to do the right thing and volunteers to go home as Roger and his 8 pound loss doesn’t deserve to leave just yet. The last 30 minutes of the episode had more tears than ever. Blue has a strong bond they weren’t prepared to break. Did Mark make a smart choice or should he have saved himself? And who thinks Dan is going to regret that tattoo down the road? Tonight’s episode was great. I always love when the contestants go home and this season we got to see it relatively early on. As expected everyone was excited but extremely hesitant to leave the campus. We got to see a glimpse of everyone’s home life, how Mark’s wife had lost weight as well, how Jackie and Dan were now able to play with kids in their program. And we of course got to see everyone out to dinner. Most fared extremely well by eating fish and drinking water, but Paul certainly went off the deep end with his never ending plate of wings. We even got a hint of Bob and Jillian as Bob became superimposed on Roger’s shoulder during his workout and Jillian gave Brittney a little call during dinner to see how she was doing. And no Biggest Loser would be complete without out the usual share of advertisements, this week being for Subway and Ziploc. After the week ends, the contestants return to the campus, ready for the challenge. This time, the winner would be able to choose 2 people from the opposing team to weigh-in 24 hours early. Although the challenge looked fun, it definitely seemed tough. Half-way through, Roger calls for a draw but Black won’t give in, they’re in it to win it, and this ends up a smart choice for them as they win, choosing Dan and Roger to weigh-in early. And boy did a prize ever NOT be an advantage. Dan loses 11 pounds and Rogers loses 16. Doesn’t seem like them weighing in early affected their numbers one bit. At the beginning of the regular weigh-in, Black learns about the huge numbers Roger and Dan pulled. Continuing down this successful path, Mark loses 13 pounds and his brother loses 16. I kept thinking that this couldn’t be possible. Isn’t being home supposed to keep them from losing? It sure did when Hollie and Julie went home midseason last year. With the Black team needing to lose 60 pounds, it was clear they weren’t going to pull out a win again. Overall they do ok but nothing spectacular. It isn’t a surprise when Paul gets voted out. Despite the fact that he annoyed everyone by wearing a yellow t-shirt, the numbers were stacked against him and his alliance with Kelly wasn’t strong enough to keep him in the game. I was really rooting for Paul but I like everyone on the Black team so they just need start winning again so no-one goes home. So who are you all rooting for? It’s getting down to the wire, any predictions for final four? For more of The Biggest Loser, check out our Online Video Guide

Tonight’s episode was just ok for me. It began where we left off last week, right after the shocking elimination. Dan came back visibly upset by the loss of his mom and ironically the Black team was there to support him, even asking Jillian to take him on as a trainee. Bernie got his “biggest loser” prize and wisely chooses game play. The card reads that he gets 50% off at the next challenge. Bernie, and myself, wondered what that would come to mean. Back on the Blue team, Dan was alienating himself and couldn’t get over how the elimination had unfolded. But as a strategic move, he tells his team he understands someone had to go and that it was unfortunate it had to be his mom. The brothers responded well and apologized for lying. After a good heart to heart, Blue seems to emerge strong, unified, and very cocky. The challenge seems complicated at first, but it was actually quite simple. Two pairs from each team have to balance the amount of combined weight they have lost. And for Bernie this means only half of his weight. The winning team would be able to grant immunity to 2 people, 1 from each team. In the midst of the challenge, did anyone catch Mark mouthing off to Allison? Though it was subtle, he told her to stop being so dramatic. This further cemented my ill feelings towards him. To my delight, Black wins when both Blue pairs fall in the water. During the next work-out, Maggie breaks down about her past and present relationships, leading Jillian to bring in a psychotherapist. And who is this person, none other than her mom! Each Black member sits down one-on-one with her (except for Maggie, which was surprising considering she’s who prompted Jillian to have her mom come in the first place. I’m guessing that was edited out). We see a recurring theme and it really becomes apparent that a majority of those who are overweight have had pretty difficult pasts. And, if it’s worth mentioning, Bob’s team opted out of seeing Jillian’s mom and felt it was better to “walk it out than talk it out.” At the weigh-in, Bernie announces they would give their immunity to Jay and that Maggie was the one who lucked out and would be granted it on Black. Kelly then hops on the scale and starts their team off strong. She loses 8, Paul loses 10, Bernie loses 7 and then it comes to a halt. Brittany only loses 1 pound and Maggie 2. But somehow they pulled out a victory because even with Roger and Trent having high numbers, overall it’s not enough to garner a win. The elimination plays out as it was supposed to last week with Trent volunteering to go home and the brothers keeping their word. Trent is a stand-up guy and I loved that NBC devoted a pretty substantial amount of time to his follow-up. As it was said earlier in the episode, Trent was never there for the money but to get himself healthy and he seems to be accomplishing that with the support of his family and school. So what did everyone think of the episode? Do you think anyone, if not everyone, will struggle when they’re sent home next week? For more of The Biggest Loser, check out our Online Video Guide

We’re already up to week 6 at the Biggest Loser Campus. Feeling discouraged and confused after the previous weigh-in, Jillian sits down with the Black team to try to figure it all out. Since she’s a maniac in the gym it’s clear that it’s the diet that halted the team’s weight loss. Jillian insists that everyone should up their calories, especially after she learns that many team members are only consuming half of what their body needs to fuel and burn calories. The temptation challenge didn’t appear to be too tempting this week, though the lure of the prize was. The winner would be able to switch themselves or another team member, something that could affect team morale entirely. Some of the competitors dabbled but it really only came down to Brittany and Mark, with Mark eating 43 pieces of chocolate for the win. Not so shockingly, he keeps the teams stacked remaining the same. And Mark’s second prize of the week? He learns he has a stress fracture and has to modify his workout regimen. I loved this week’s challenge. As a self proclaimed foodie, I could not wait to see what meals the teams would prepare for celebrity chef, Rocco DiSpirito. It was a great deviation to see them cook rather then compete, and have to alter Rocco’s dishes to make them healthy yet tasty. Overall, they weren’t too exciting, and what was that palm tree Paul made? I liked how Bernie made the steak more gourmet and flavorful (not that I tasted it) by adding the blue cheese. Blue’s salmon looked ok but both desserts looked questionable. Rocco claimed everything was delicious and so he based it on the calorie count. Black nabbed the win and their prize was two-fold. They got to learn how to cook a great and healthful meal and they got to recieve videos from home. All were nice to watch but when Kelly saw hers, can we say awkward? Her boyfriend mentions he misses her kisses and stabs Paul right in the heart. And where was the tape from his girlfriend that he mentioned two episodes ago? Time for the weigh-in and first up is Blue. They earn respectable numbers, though Jackie only loses two pounds. By the way, did you all have the Nissan commercial that gave away the biggest loser of the week? It told viewers to vote and only gave Maggie, Bernie and Mark as choices. It gave me a strong hint towards a Black victory. Kelly and Paul certainly made up for last week but it wasn’t so impressive considering last week’s numbers, or lack there of. Overall Black did outstanding and won the weigh-in. As Blue deliberated it seemed pretty straight forward as to whom they were going to choose. Jackie openly nominated Trent who accepted it. But once the voting went down, the brothers, Mark and Jay, pulled a switcheroo and ousted Jackie. She had played the game well but a little too hard and it came back to bite her in the behind. So what do you think, did Jackie deserve to be turned against? Will Dan continue to excel without her? For more on The Biggest Loser, visit our Online Video Guide

Well if last week’s episode was the “Paul” episode then this week’s was the “Bob and Jillian” episode. Those two are featured more and more each season and tonight the game fell in their hands. The campus was tense following Pink’s elimination and Purple was not happy with what went down. They thought they were being portrayed as lazy when in reality, they working their hardest. While the Camp Counselors were venting, Brittany was bonding. And who was she having a heart to heart with? Jillian. For the first time in all the seasons I’ve watched, Jillian has become human. Whereas before I saw her as the workout monster with no emotion, now I’m seeing how much her being a friend to these contestants is helping their mental strength. At the challenge, Allison introduces a twist. Bob and Jillian are not just there to watch, but there to compete. I’m sure everyone was happy to have the tables turn on them for once. The biggest surprise though, was that whoever climbed the stairs 10 times first would pick their teams. And by picking the teams, the game was back to Blue vs. Black, Bob vs. Jillian. Bob picks Orange, Black and Grey to train with him. Clearly he’s at an advantage. More and more I’m jumping onto Team Jillian, when I’ve always been Team Bob in the past. The original blue team, Bernie and Brittany, are crushed. They feel like they got a slap in the face, and I agree. But the one good thing about Bob stacking his team with all the large men was seeing them attempt to do Yoga. Trent doing the “downward dog” was priceless. I’m not even going to discuss the temptation because no-one fell for it and so it had no true effect in the game. Afterwards, we got an advertisement via Jillian, to chew Wrigley’s gum during a craving. Has anyone ever tried this and find that it works because I just don’t see how chewing a piece of gum could satisfy my need for a big, fat, slice of pizza. But moving on, the weigh-in begins. I have to give Brittany credit for expressing her feelings towards Bob not choosing her and Bernie. That had to tug at his heart just a bit. Blue was on a roll with everyone hitting pretty good numbers. Black is worried and so am I. Jen and Maggie lose 6 and 7 respectively, and are ecstatic, but that changes quickly. Brittany loses only 2, Kelly loses 0 and Paul gains 3, what a nightmare! And I have to give Dan credit for being the biggest loser of the week for a third time. After Black deliberates, the voting begins. Jenn gets voted out 4-2 over Kelly. Despite that I really like Jenn and wanted her to stay, Black just couldn’t get rid of Kelly because of the numbers she could potentially pull. And after weeks of falling below the yellow line, it was hard to justify saving Jenn once again. How will Maggie cope next week without her best friend? Will the underdogs make a comeback? This was an interesting week on the Biggest Loser campus and you may as well have called it the “Paul Episode”. The show picked up where it left off last elimination ceremony, begging the question, who would you vote off if you could choose one more team? Well apparently the answer is Yellow. In a matter of minutes they go from being the biggest losers of the week, to possibly going home. But lucky for them, it only meant Paul and Kelly versus everyone else. Yes, for this week only, in the challenge and the weigh-on, Yellow would be competing against the entire campus. I wasn’t sure how I felt about this change of events. It was a weird twist that put a lot of pressure on Yellow to lose pounds, but at the same time could potentially give them the power to choose who to send home. Ironically, after this all goes down, Paul and Kelly get to retrieve their prize for being the biggest losers of the week. Wisely, they chose game-play, which resulted in them being able to take off two pounds at any weigh-in they want. Continuing the Paul-themed episode, we learned two interesting things about him. He was a “fighter” and uses his old uniform as inspiration and that he works out in the middle of the night. Really? Paul works out in the middle of the night? I guess he’s more dedicated than we realized. Team Yellow rocks the challenge. Their competition, oh wait, everyone else, doesn’t even come close. And the handsome reward is letters from home. Paul and Kelly make the ultimate sacrifice and give up their letters in order for the others to get theirs. Though extremely generous, I couldn’t help but wonder if this was strategy. Why else would they forgo this prize? They said it would make them lose focus, but it seemed a bit fishy to me. And on that “strategic” note, we found out several teams were going to throw off the weigh-in. I guess Neal’s antics last season have forever changed the game because before then, no-one that I can remember ever purposely didn’t lose weight. At the weigh-in we found out that the reward for team of the week would be immunity. This adds even more pressure. Not surprisingly, the football guys lost double digits. And also not surprising, the camp counselors barely lost anything. Orange only loses 3 pounds total which leaves Bob looking stunned and suspicious. So with all the teams, but Yellow, to weigh-in, their average percentage is 2.81, which seems doable for Yellow. But unfortunately, all is turned upside down as Black loses the most. And though Yellow pulls out a high enough number to stay in the game, they can’t vote the brothers off. At this point, I didn’t know what was going to happen. Could the plan have gone any worse? It was obvious Yellow would vote for a team that voted for them and then it becomes obvious that that team would be Pink. They’re definitely not happy and I was bummed out as well. I don’t know what would have been a better or smarter choice but I did really appreciated Betty Sue’s speech. She’s a great woman and I hope her and her daughter do amazingly well in the coming months. And with that, Allison leaves us with the tease that next week there would be no more eliminating teams. Single eliminations? How is that going to affect the rest of the game? Check out more of The Biggest Loser, in our Online Video Guide

The theme of tonight’s episode was “game-play.” Orange team was given their prize that we were all left wondering about last week. For being the biggest loser team (which they accomplished two weeks in a row) they got to chose between luxury, family and game-play. Of course they were made to walk up a mountain in order to retrieve it, but they’re strong and they do it. After a short debate between mother and son, Orange picked game-play, the seemingly smart choice. They would get to cast two votes in the elimination, which was huge. The challenge seemed to come pretty early this episode, but it was a good one. As Jillian and Bob said earlier, this was the week when people started to play the game and play with strategy. On that note, the challenge was a free for all, leaving people to align with other teams or gang up against them. And a win this challenge meant immunity. It was clear people would go against the Orange team because of the prize they already had. White was quick to be eliminated as well. In the end, Purple, Grey and Blue were left and in an anti-climatic way, Purple eliminated Blue, leaving Grey left to eliminate Purple. Team Football aka Grey, won and thus could not be voted off. Side-note: Don’t you just love Bette-Sue? Last week she fell off the treadmill and got right back up. This week she took a good look at the relationship with her daughter. Not to mention, no matter how tough Jillian is on her physically or emotionally, she never complains or gives up. She has a fabulous attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. I’m completely rooting for her. Time for this week’s weigh-in and Grey is up first. They lose thirteen pounds combined, which is pretty good, but regardless can’t get sent home. Orange pulls a big number again leaving us wondering if they’ll be the biggest losers for the third time in a row. The Camp Counselors only lose ten, they just can’t seem to get that big number. The Boston Brothers (I’m starting to use nick-names now) lost a whopping nineteen but it’s not enough to top The Strangers who lose twenty pounds. White team doesn’t fare so well and Yellow, who’s up last, lose twenty-three, making them the biggest losing team by a hundredth of a percent. From below the yellow line to the top of the pack, you gotta love how quickly the game changes. As for the elimination, I can’t say I’m surprised or disappointed that the White team got voted off. In the end, they were the least deserving to be there. But I hope they prove myself and the rest of the teams wrong and do well at home. So what did you think of the cliffhanger? Is another team going home at the beginning of next week? Who will it be? Check out more of The Biggest Loser, in our Online Video Guide

Last night’s episode introduced a new structure, the “dynamic duo.” Bob and Jillian training together, pretty intense but this could be very interesting when the 2 personalities mesh. So this week the players entered “The Wall of Truth.” There have been some pretty strange things on The Biggest Loser but I think this tops them all. Each team saw a video of themselves talking about how much food they consume. Then we heard some strange robotic woman’s voice reading off the amount of calories and fat this adds up to in a year. Then weird pictures flew around the background and I suddenly felt like I was in “The Biggest Loser Twilight Zone.” But it was great to see how it impacted teams like Mallory and Curtis who realized they had been literally killing themselves with food. For once the challenge actually looked fun! The black team (the brothers) won again. Brothers really do well on this show. They won a calling card home and as an added surprise, they got to pick three other teams to also have the privilege. I love when teams get to call home. It’s always the men who cry the hardest and it’s so endearing to see. The temptation this week really challenged the teammate’s trust in each other. The team that ate the most calories would win $5000. Which team member would sell out? Well Paul claimed he had 1000 calories left to eat for the day, but was this strategy or was he just not thinking because Mark took this fact with him and just edged Paul out by consuming 13 more calories and winning the money. Will it affect the weigh-ins? Even though it seemed like a lot, past seasons tell me it usually doesn’t. Roger is the first to weigh in and he only loses 3 pounds. This early in the game and that big of a guy should be having another double digit weight-loss. But maybe everyone will have a small week. Things weren’t looking good as Paul had a small number as well. He definitely regretted indulging during the temptation. And of course, Mark loses 7 pounds despite consuming the 925 calories the night before. 5000 bucks and he’s in the lead! So unfair. I was totally bummed that Jenn and Maggie didn’t do better as I’m rooting for them, but at least they were able to stay above the yellow line. The biggest shock came when Mallory gained 1 pound! That put her brown team below the yellow line, along with the yellow team. This elimination was such a bummer for me because I really liked both teams. I was especially sad when the brown team was voted out. But look at Curtis!! He did so well off the campus and him and Mallory are looking great so far. Keep it up! So what do you think, did the Brown team deserve to go? For more on The Biggest Loser, check out our Online Video Guide
