America's Next Top Model

by Adam Schubak
Read Episode Recap: And The Winner Is...
Hey all! Gina here again, and allow me to be the first to welcome you to the moment you've all be waiting for -- tonight we crown Cycle 10's Next Top Model!

Following suit with past cycles, the final three ladies – Anya, Whitney and Fatima – are faced with the infamous Cover Girl challenge. Not only do the girls have to memorize lines for their easy, breezy, beautiful commercial, they also have to pull off a print ad shot. But the girls are given a little extra incentive for winning tonight because which ever of these chickadees take home the title will also be lucky enough to have their larger-than-life sized picture posted in Times Square. Not a bad kick-start to a modeling career.

As the girls get decked for the commercial portion of their challenge, they are graced with the presence of Cycle 9's winner, Saliesha, for some moral support. But the pressure is getting to the ever-chipper Anya as she breaks down into tears. I never pegged her as the type to let her nerves get the better of her considering she's the happy-go-lucky one, but the poor girl is human, after all.

First up for the commercial is Fatima. Good lord, does she look good! But that's about the only thing she has going for her. It's as though she just spit out her lines with no inflection in her voice what-so-ever. Jay put it best when he said it was "almost robotic." Whitney takes the stage next, and her commercial seemed to go smoothly. Last, but not least, Anya. Poor thing couldn’t quite piece her lines together, but that energy and aura were just screaming Cover Girl model. You have to give props to these girls because those lines sounded like tongue twisters between those "boring, bland lashes" and "blast brushes." Those Cover Girl advertisers got a little alliteration crazy on this one.

At panel, the judges thought Whitney did well, but had their hesitations because they felt she was a bit fake, and they were uncertain of what really lies beneath her pretty facade. Fatima was told the same thing Jay had said – she basically needed to take a breath or blink when delivering those lines. At least she looked good. Then was Anya. Tyra admitted as a whole, the commercial was a "train wreck," but if taken piece-by-piece, it was actually the most genuine. It was Anya whose photo was called first, but I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised that Whitney was the second photo.

And now for the runway challenge. They really upped their game with this cycle's runway because the final two were set to model in Versace fashion show wearing gowns hand selected by Donatella herself – not a bad get, Tyra. The actual runway was nothing special, unlike some of the one's we've seen in the past (I'm partial to the water one from Cycle 4 with Naima), but it didn't matter because those dresses were a-mazing.

On the runway, Anya's first dress is absolutely stunning, and she looks fabulous. Whitney's dress left a lot to be desired, but she worked it anyway. After changing into dress number two, the tables turn because Whitney steals the show in her hot pink gown, where as Anya shimmied down the runway in a very narrow dress. Is it bad that I was hoping one of them would at least stumble a bit?

Now back at the final panel, Whitney and Anya arrive in their Versace gowns to find out who will be named the winner. The judges review their portfolios, but there is a lot of back and forth between who took the better pic, who's bone structure was more high fashion, etc. I want Whitney to take it, but Anya's never been on the chopping block, so I'm a bit nervous. And now for the big reveal. America's… Next….. Top…… Model……. .is..……… (like my version of dramatic pacing?)….Whitney! For the first time in Top Model history, a plus-sized/full-figured/normal girl wins!

Holy crap! I'm shocked…but in a good way! As much as I wanted her to win, I never thought they'd let someone who's not the typical model size be the victor. Wow. Good for her…and good for Top Model and Cover Girl for picking such a curvalicious role model for the young girls of America! As much as I thought this season had episodes that just dragged and didn't really keep me engaged, this makes up for it.

But what did all of you think of the outcome? Do you think the right girl won? What do you think of a plus-sized model serving as the next Cover Girl? How about those dresses – which was your favorite? And did anyone else notice Donatella was no where to be found at her own fashion show? Think Whitney has what it takes to sustain a career in modeling in the years to come? Let's hear it all!

Check out interviews with Tyra, Whitney and former winners Jaslene and Saleisha.

Hey Top Model-ers. Gina here again – so glad you can join us. Last week, many of you (myself included) were disappointed to see Kat go after the Tyra-shot photo shoot. Hell, even Whitney was shocked she didn't get the boot. But such is life in the land of reality competitions.

Tonight's episode starts out with the final four ladies, Whitney, Fatima, Dominique and Anya. The girls arrive back to their pad to see Salesha's pictures all over the house. Of course Dominique has to make the comment that she's "the Salesha of the house" before heading to bed while the other girls take the opportunity to talk schmack about crappy eating habits. The fact that the girl can eat doesn't bother me at all. What does bother me is her make-up job in some of these scenes. Seriously though, does anyone else notice her foundation tends to be 4 shades to light for her face?

For the challenge, the girls arrive in the park, and as a little change of pace, they get to play photographer for the day (clearly they'll never be as good as Tyra was last week). Their mission: to capture the best picture of Paulina (and play nice with her at the same time) within five minutes. Fatima is up first, and she took charge, but with a professional manner. Dominique mastered the art of talking in circles. Whitney didn't really do much but tell Paulina how hot she was (brown-noser much?). And Anya tried to have Paulina be as perky as she is.

As far as results go, Whitney's lighting came out well and she "didn't hesitate." Anya was a "fun" photographer. Fatima made Paulina feel "relaxed" and provided "a lot of options." Dominique's critique – "Your compositions just weren't quite there," and, my personal favorite was Paulina's, "I was going to go wherever you were going to lead me…but you led me to a cactus." And the winner – Dominique! Juuuust playin'. Fatima went home the victor and nabbed herself 50 extra frames on the next photo shoot as her reward.

Back at the house, Fatima put in some extra time practicing her runway walk. And guess who had the most to say? Oh, Dominique. What you call self-confidence, we call self-obsessed-without-merit.

Anywho, tonight's challenge. The girls get to do a night shoot as a '50s movie star stalked by the paparazzi. But wait, who's that running towards the girls? Why, it's noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker! Let the shoot begin. First up is Anya. She couldn't seem to get out of the posey rut until Jay distracted her. Fatima was next and no one was impressed. But good thing she won those 50 extra frames, right? Wrong! She botched those too. Whitney was taking the posey shots as well. Dominique was her overly confident self going into the shoot, and according to Jay, "actually took a few steps back." So basically, the question now is who sucked the least.

At judges panel, Anya lucked out and got an amazing shot by the judges standards. They all loved her "fresh" energy. Whitney looked great, but they found her to be a bit stiff. And then was Dominique. Even in the final four, Tyra had to teach Dominique to dress at panel. According to Paulina, her picture was that of "a transvestite." At least she calls it like she sees it considering that was her softest shot. Tyra had to give her a little how-to lesson on avoiding the tranny look. Fatima looked like more of a Covergirl in her shot, but it was decent. With Fatima and Dominique in the bottom two, who goes? Bye-bye Dominique! And then there were three…

And that wraps up another episode of Top Model. Personally, I think it's about time Dominique left, but if I said it once, I'll say it again; I'm truly surprised Whitney hasn't been cut yet based on plus sized models of past cycles. Perhaps there really may be a plus size model in the Top 2 (but I'm not holding my breath). Overall, I secretly was hoping for a bit more drama, but come to think of it, now that Dominique is gone, the cat fighting may be as well. Hopefully Fatima will step up and resume her old role as the annoying one.

So what did everyone think of tonight's episode? Glad to see Dominique go or do you think the finale won't nearly be as entertaining without her? Does Whitney stand a chance as being the winner? Who do you think will be the final two on the runway challenge? Let's hear it!

Hey all, Gina here again (you may remember me for my prior subbing)—and I'll be taking over for Adam with the last few episodes of Top Model. But before we jump in to tonight's episode, I just need to share one little thing from last week. Never, I repeat, ne-ver, have I laughed so hard than when I saw Lauren attempt to act. That is all.

So tonight's episode started out with the usual chitter-chatter from the ladies. Whitney is freaking out from her botched performance on the last shoot, and Fatima is being exceptionally conceited. Then came the "Tyra-mail" and the girls were off. Where they ended up—by Roman ruins for a little lesson in…wait for it…gladiator combat. Fatima couldn't really seem to grasp the concept, but then again, graceful decapitation is probably trickier than it sounds.

As a little surprise, instead of a pose-off type challenge, the girls had a "photo challenge" where they each were given five frames to pose while fighting a goliath-sized, grunting gladiator. Anya paid attention during class and did well, Kat not so much. Fatima tanked. And Dominique, our favorite, must have gotten confused and thought the challenge was who could emulate the Karate Kid crane post best. But the winner—Whitney. I do love how Tyra and Co. tried to stir up some trouble by offering 1,000 Euro shopping spree that Whitney could have had for herself or split with a friend. Whether she's a good person or just didn't want to look like a greedy bastard on national television, she decided to split her winnings with Anya.

And then came the moment you all were waiting for—Tyra playing photographer (with her ego in tow). The girls hit up a sweet, fresco-drenched castle for a "modern interpretation of the Renaissance." All I can say is last I checked, there's nothing Renaissance about those heinous wigs, no matter what kind of "modern" spin you put on it. Since there was only five girls, and we heard Tyra and Jay's comments after each one, it was cake predicting that the bottom two would be the only ones Tyra had anything negative to say about—Kat and Whitney.

At the panel, after Tyra so graciously welcomed the girls in French (yes, they are in Rome), Anya was up first. They couldn't get enough of her. But WAIT. We had to turn the attention back to Tyra—could you believe she never worked with artificial light?! Good thing the pic of her mom was included in the episode! Anywho, moving on, the judges loved Fatima and Dominique. But thank god they commented on Dominique's keen fashion sense with those maroon leggings of hers because I was dying when I saw that outfit. Neither Kat nor Whitney did much to impress the judges leaving them, as predicted, in the bottom two. And the unlucky chicky tonight—Kat.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting that decision. I thought Tyra had figured she had appeased the masses enough by keeping the plus-sized model on for this long and couldn't get any flack if she let Whitney go at this point. But, apparently the fact that Kat is stunning and the fan favorite wasn't enough to keep her safe. Maybe I'm just bitter that she went home and Dominique is in the final four.

How do you feel about tonight's episode? Do you think the right person went home? Could it be a plus-sized model may be the next Top Model? Was Paulina's comment about Dominique's face having "interesting bones" was her p.c. way of saying she looks like a tranny? Let's hear it!

Hello Top Model fans! So we're off to Rome. This is gonna be hiii-larious. These girls barely have a grasp on the English language so it'll be fun to watch them struggle with Italian. Even though we all knew it would work out for Fatima last week, I was kinda hoping it wouldn't and all of her hard work would be meaningless due to misplaced travel documents. Yeah, I'm just in one of those moods tonight.

The girls touched down in Rome and were blown away by what they've accomplished thus far. Lauren, as she tends to do every week, explained how she never expected to make it to this point and how she was blown away by it. If only the look on her face expressed that! You'd think as a model the girl would be able to convey the emotion she claims to be feeling. But then again, this is Lauren and we all know she loves playing the anti-model model. As the girls hopped off the bus and onto the Italian cobblestone street, poor Anya fell flat on her face. What a way to kick off the final 6. The driver handed the girls a Tyra-mail directing them to their new home and the place was straight outta MTV's The Real World. Anyone else remember when all the remaining girls were forced to share 1 hotel room? Was that cycle 1?

As the girls settled into their new residence, Fatima felt ill and tried to sleep it off while the rest of the girls dined on an Italian feast and talked smack about her. Anya felt sorry for Fatima and brought her food rather than joining in on the trash-talking. The next morning, Lauren awoke at the crack of dawn and start acting all punk rock by making a lot of noise and tossing luggage around the room. The other girls weren't too happy about it and made some comments trying to get her to keep quiet. Fatima tried to catch a few more minutes of sleep while the other girls read the newest Tyra-mail. The ladies rode segways on a guided tour around the city to observe the local fashion trends. At the end of the tour, the girls were presented with their challenge with designer Gai Mattiolo which was to recreate the fashions they observed on the streets of Rome. Although I thought Kat and Whitney sported the Italian look flawlessly, Mattiolo awarded Anya (again!) with the challenge prize. I need to throw in though how much it annoys me that Whitney has taken to complaining after not winning the challenges each and every week. I love ya honey but enough already!

When the top 6 got back to their new home, another Tyra-mail was waiting for them to let them know the Cover Girl shoot would be their next event. BRING IT ON! The looks on all of their faces as they realized the commercials would be an Italian would have made quite the photo shoot in itself. Lauren seemed to be the most concerned with it. Regardless, the next morning the girls were off to their shoot. As has always been the case, the girls were told to learn their lines for a commercial to be shot in Italian. As everyone predicted, Anya and Lauren pretty much butchered it. Kat seemed to do well but Mr. Jay thought she was a little lifeless. Dominique had the energy down but lacked any understanding of the words she was speaking. The director felt Fatima did the best despite admitting to being sick. And then there was Whitney. Mr. Jay really seems to dislike her. He was right that she didn't do well with the shoot but didn't he seem harder on her than anyone else? The girls went home and Whitney was pretty upset by the feedback she had gotten.

Later that night the girls were off to meet with the panel. Fatima was first to step up and Tyra was concerned that if she was the best of the day, the rest must be pretty awful. When Whitney stepped forward, Tyra said she liked it but everyone else agreed that she seemed to be phoning it in. The entire panel thought Anya did a pretty horrible job. It was the same story with Dominique when the judges cracked up throughout her entire commercial. Lauren was told she looked beautiful but obviously delivered the same awkwardness that has become routine for her. Kat was told she did better than everyone else but still not very good. Tyra tried to have the girls practice their flirtatious laugh before she sent them away and when Lauren didn't even attempt it, it pretty much sealed the deal that she'd be going home. The bottom two were Whitney and Lauren. One who overdoes it and one who doesn't even try. Hmm, tough choice. Later Lauren!

Alright...so we're down to 5. I'm glad Lauren made it this far but it was definitely her time to go. Most of us predicted that the Cover Girl shoot would do her in before this episode even began. I'm still kind of amazed Dominique is still in the game though. She really did look tranny-licious with that bright red lipstick on in the commercial. She may have the confidence to win this thing but I could never picture that face on any magazine cover. I'm officially backing Kat for the win with Anya or maybe Fatima as the runner up. So what'd y'all think? Do these commercials in a foreign language really help us figure out who has Top Model potential? Is Tyra a better judge than Mr. Jay?

And yes, you can still catch any past episodes in our online video guide!
Read Episode Recap: For Those About to Walk, We Salute You
Hey party people! Before I get this thing going I'd like to share a little story. I was out last weekend and I swear I saw Marvita at a bar. She had the weird fro-hawk and everything! It wasn't until my pal Gina (substitute ANTM blogger) pointed out that I was actually looking at a dude that I decided not to walk over and tell her I blog Top Model. But I swear, the two could've been twins. Anyhow, I digress. Let's get to recapping.

Things started out with the ladies reacting to Claire's elimination. Lauren was genuinely surprised that she had made it this far in the competition. I still like her but she really needs to work on that personality. I can only imagine what those Cover Girl commercials will be like. Meanwhile, Fatima made the realization that she may not be able to go abroad with the other girls since she is not a US citizen and she lost her travel documents.

After the girls gathered around to cheer up Fatima, Paulina entered the loft to teach them how to have a proper conversation and handle interviews. Anya did well but Stacy-Ann came off as fake. The lesson didn't last very long and in my opinion, wasn't very helpful either. Once Paulina left, the girls decided to cook up some potato pancakes while Fatima tried to get her travel documents straightened out. Neither of the two worked out well. Fatima was told her attempt to get new documents was too last minute and Lauren sliced open her finger while trying to chop an onion. Silly models...stick to what you're good at! A producer for the show escorted Lauren to the hospital which means this little accident is either a free ride to the next round or her ticket home.

When the girls woke up the next morning, there was box waiting for them in the living room. The box was filled with lemons and limes and a note informing the girls they'd be attending a green carpet event. Whitney expressed some worries about walking the carpet while sipping a can of 7-Up (talk about product placement!) The girls were then outfitted in Jay Godfrey dresses and sent on their way.

Upon arriving at the party, the girls walked the carpet and were briefly interviewed by a reporter from The Insider. Most of them seemed to handle the interview portion well except for Dominique who said the wrong name of the dress designer. Really Dominique? He's one of the judges for this challenge! When the interviewer asked Lauren why she should be America's Next Top Model, her response was: "I can kick the S%it out of those girls anytime!" Not exactly lady-like but totally entertaining. Once the girls entered the party it was time to mingle. Anya won the competition for being poised on the carpet and for charming the pants off of the party-goers. Her prize was a 7-Up ad campaign (which she was actually paid for) and she totally rocked it. For the first time since the cycle started I really thought she looked amazing in her picture.

Later on, Fatima found out she got an appointment to argue her case at the consulate right about the time a Tyra-mail came in making the girls believe they'd be going abroad. Did anyone actually think this was the case? In a very obvious twist, the girls made their way to the airport with their luggage in hand only to find that they were just doing a photo shoot on the airport runway. Fatima had to miss the shoot for her appointment and arrived just in time for a surprise meeting with the panel inside the airport hangar. Ok, so that one I didn't expect.

The judges came down hard on Fatima for missing the shoot which secured her a spot in the bottom two but she's way too popular with the judges to get sent home for this little screw-up. As the panel went through the pictures, the only person they really seemed disappointed with was Stacy-Ann. With that, it was pretty clear that the rest of them were gonna be boarding that plane to head overseas. Despite once again making it clear how annoyed they were with Fatima, the judges chose Stacy-Ann to take her packed luggage and head home to Miami. Before the credits rolled, Tyra revealed that the remaining 6 girls would be heading to Rome for the remainder of the cycle. She also managed to work it in that the girls hadn't quite made it to her level of success yet and so they'd be flying in a commercial airliner with the rest of the common folk. Eww!

So people, here we are in the home stretch! I was glad to see Stacy-Ann go. Her personality always seemed a bit fake to me and she was finally called out on it. Her photos weren't great either. I'm still all about Lauren, Kat, and Whitney. I so happy to see Whitney still in the competition but the judges seem to be losing interest in her. I thought she did just fine at the party no matter what Nigel had to say. Lastly, Tyra's closing comment really bothered me. She always tries to play it up like she's still in touch with her roots and then she goes and pulls something like this. I guess we should just be thankful she doesn't throw tantrums in the airport terminal (or cell phones for that matter!) So what's your take? Should they have sent Fatima home for missing the photo shoot? Is the editing on this show getting just a tad ridiculous?

Hey All,

So I'm not blogging this week's show because lets face it...though they advertise previously unaired footage for these little recap episodes, that stuff never comes until the last 5 minutes. Do we really wanna hear Dominique brag even more about how she's got this competition in the bag? Or hear Fatima talk about how nobody else wants it as bad as she does? Instead, why don't you leave your comments about what y'all think of this season so far? Does it live up to previous cycles? Was the move back to New York enough of a change? And how about that Paulina? Let us know!

Guess who's baaaacccckkkk? Sorry 'bout my absence last week. Moving ain't fun. Shout out to Gina for filling in for me! But enough about that. Let's talk Top Model. I go away for 1 week and come back to the go-sees. Where did the time go?

When things got underway, Lauren appeared to have a case of cabin fever. She had a major attitude and started flipping the bird left and right. As usual though, it wasn't long before the girls were sent off on their first mission.

The 8 remaining girls were split into 2 teams. Team 1 was Lauren, Anya, Fatima, and Kat while team 2 consisted of Dominique, Stacy-Ann, Whitney, and Claire. What a way to split em, eh? The 3 girls who had all of the drama last week are "randomly" placed on a team and told to work together. Surprisingly though, things went better than expected. The only real drama happened when Pamella Roland told Whitney she would never really book a girl her size for one of her runway shows. This set Whitney off on her proud to be big speech and I gotta say, I totally agree with her. Keep those comments to yourself Ms. Roland and just mark someone else's name on your scorecard! While Whitney dealt with her issues with Pamella and being forced to work with Dominique, the other team met with Shoshanna Gross to model bathing suits. No real drama there except Lauren once again struggled with her walk. I feel like even a toddler could get that walk down by now. After switching designers, the two teams met up at a third and final designer, Stacey Bendett (Alice and Olivia) who looked and acted like she was 17. Anyone happen to know how old she actually is? She didn't really have anything constructive to say except that Fatima was beautiful and Lauren can't walk. Who knew?! Once the girls were done with Stacey Bendett, the rep. from Seventeen magazine crowned Team 2 the winners (thanks to Stacy-Ann) and awarded them a summer beauty spread in the June issue of Seventeen.

The next day it was time for the photo shoot of the week and I gotta say, it was pretty cool. When the Tyra-mail came hinting to the girls what they'd be doing, Lauren made the funniest comment of the week. While the other girls tried to figure out what they'd have to do, Lauren announced: "I think it's a photo shoot!" Thanks Captain Obvious! I'd say that was Lauren inner-model coming out a bit. Anyhow, when the models arrived at the site of the shoot it really made me want to go out and buy tickets for the show they were shamelessly promoting (Fuerza Bruta.) The girls were shot from underneath as they flailed around in a puddle of water high above the ground. They were also photographed without any make-up which gave us the chance to see these girls' natural beauty. As things kicked off, Claire injured herself by slamming her face into the floor. Dominique seemed to rock Mr. Jay's world (his words, not mine.) Lauren was her usual awkward self. Kat was given a second makeover when she got her hair cut short after the judges loved her look in the last photo shoot. She embraced it and turned in a great performance during the shoot. Following the shoot, the girls rested up before facing the judges once again.

In panel, the judges seemed extremely disappointed with Claire's photo. They said Kat's picture was beautiful and Tyra commended Whitney for being one of the only girls to actually smile for her pictures. They came down on Lauren for having a weak shot which made me think she'd be the one going home. When it came time to eliminate someone it was between Claire and Lauren. Claire was sent home giving Lauren another chance to prove she can get out of this awkward "not a model" phase.

Well people, in my time away I have to say that I've had a change of heart. All season I've said my top 3 were Lauren, Whitney, and Claire. Even before this episode began and Claire was sent home I decided she was no longer my favorite and, like most of you, I'm getting sick of Lauren's complaining about not feeling like a model. So my friends, they've been replaced. I still love my Whitney and I want her to go all the way but I'd be just as happy seeing Kat take home the crown instead. I thought she was beautiful before the short hair (and I was pretty disgusted by Paulina's comment that "her Eastern European tackiness is gone") Shut it Paulina! You will never be Janice no matter how obnoxious the producers tell you to be. So what'd you all think? Did Claire deserve another chance over Lauren? Is Paulina just a puppet for the producers? Let us know!

And...well, you know what I'm gonna say so just click here if you just can't get enough Top Model.
Read Episode Recap: Top Model Is Feelin' The Music
Hello all. Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Gina, and I’m covering for our dear Adam while he’s in the process of moving (truth is his roomie was too cheap to pay for the extra four days of internet til’ the lease ran out). But fear not for your Top Model guru will be returning to his regularly scheduled blogging next Wednesday. So as an avid watcher of the show, and all of Tyra’s madness, let’s get this party started, shall we?

This week started with the girls’ reactions to their last photo shoot, and no one could seem to get over how Aimee’s skin looked, to quote Tyra, “insanely, crazy beautiful.” Lauren took note of her lack of confidence, and then we turned the focus over to Claire and her family. Yes, it was sad to hear her on the phone with her man, and it’s clear she misses that adorable little nugget of hers. But I’m not really sure I was really interested in hearing about her breast milk “drying up.”

And now the drama begins. Turns out setting her alarm clock is over Dominique’s head so she’s been waking people up at 6am for no good reason--and Claire is FIRED UP about losing those 41 minutes. The fight carried on, obviously, because Dominique wasn’t too keen on Claire calling her a bitch. Enter Lauren, trying to be the voice of reason, and Dominique making the mistake of telling her to ‘stay in her place.’ Sprinkle in Whitney’s two cents, Lauren standing on a chair screaming, and we’ve got ourselves some good television. The tag team operation was enough to break down Dominique, but don’t worry, she’s still convinced they’re after her because they know she’s gonna win.

So now the ladies head over to the dance studio for a little training from the self-proclaimed master of…well everything…Tyra. Omg, wait! Did Tyra just sprain her ankle? No, that’s just her own overly quirky way of teaching the models how to ‘pose with pain.’ Everyone did fairly well, with the exception of you know who. Poor awkward Lauren! Once the gals get home, they learn ?over the Tyra Mail ticker that their lesson was actually a challenge and the winner was Anya. Her prize? A one-on-one photo shoot with ‘noted fashion photographer’ Nigel Barker.

When Anya heads over to the set, she discovers she’s going to be stripping down for a nude shoot in bed (Nige, you dirty bird you!). Come nighttime, the girls gear up for round two of hatin’ on Dominique. Their tactic of choice? Trash talking right next to her while she’s trying to sleep.

Photo shoot day! Off to Williamsburg, Brooklyn where the girls are tasked with embodying a specific style of music for fashion photographer Russell James. Fatima was rock and looked kinda like Brett Michaels. Next was Katarzyna with an emo-Avril thing goin’ on—well done. Lauren was pop, but can someone tell me what pop star would ever where that slutty-superhero looking outfit? Either way, she still killed it like always. Claire went country and didn’t really impress anyone. Dominique was folk, and really came out looking like a tranny in hippie-wear. Anya was punk, and I really don’t know what to say about her hair. Jay was a fan of both ladies. The same can’t be said of Stacy-Ann, representing house music. Aimee, the conservative Mormon, tried to capture the sexy passion of R&B—but failed. And lastly, Whitney was grunge and wowed the photographer.

And welcome to the judging room. Among the favorites were Whitney, Katarzyna (who’ll be getting her hair chopped off next episode) and Lauren. Claire and Aimee’s photo’s, however did absolutely nothing for the judges, landing them in the bottom two. So who stays? Drumroll…Claire. A tearful goodbye and another name peeled from Ms. Jay’s bosom.

So there you have it. Another week in the saga that is Cycle 10. My thoughts? As far as the fighting goes, I have to say I was really shocked to see the bitch in Claire come out like it did. She somehow managed to avoid drama for so long, but that all came to a screeching halt tonight. Don’t get me wrong, I think Dominique and her ‘they hate me cuz I’m beautiful’ attitude is pretty much as annoying as you can get, but I also think for the three girls to sit next to her bed and talk trash was equally as annoying. As far as judging went, I wasn’t exactly surprised by the decision to send Aimee packing. I thought her picture was in fact the worst of the bunch, but I also felt Stacy-Ann’s picture should have received a bit more negative feedback than it did.

What did everyone else think of this episode? Do you think the three girls were in the right to team up against Dominique because of her attitude? Or perhaps you thought it got to the point where it was just blatantly immature? And what does everyone think of Claire rising up and jumping head first into the drama? Do you think the judging was fair? Let us know what you think!

Oh boy...after last week's meat photo shoot I couldn't wait to see what Tyra had up her sleeve for this week's Top Model. Even outside of this blog the bizarre decision to shoot the girls with meat draped over them seemed to get a lot of attention. Especially from our friends over at PETA. Now, I'm always up for a delicious steak dinner but at the same time I do find something wrong with having these poor girls running around with dead cow as underwear. As this week's episode kicked off and I caught a glimpse of the previously on Top Model clips, I couldn't help but scoff at Mr. Jay's line about how one of the girls was not "coming off pretty." Umm, Mr. Jay, you try sporting meat panties and see how attractive you look! Anyhow, I digress. This week's episode marked the return of my least favorite Tyra pal, Benny Ninja and yet another model friend to parade in front of the remaining girls.

As things got underway, Fatima was upset about being in the bottom two last week (boo hoo!) and Dominique began spouting off about how this is her competition to win which pretty much meant there was a good chance she'd be going home by the end of the hour. This show is becoming as formulaic as a horror movie. It's just like when someone says "I'll be right back!" and you know they're about to die. Whitney bitched to the camera about how Dominique doesn't stop running her mouth which just makes me love her even more. I truly hope she can break the curse of the plus-sized girls this cycle. I loved how Stacy-Ann was the first one to call Whitney fat when, if Whitney leaves at some point, Stacy-Ann becomes the biggest gal in the house.

It wasn't long before the girls had to hop into the fab cab and head over to a lesson with Benny Ninja and (international supermodel) Vendela. Once again, Benny Ninja was sporting quite the outfit. The dude may have invented voguing but a tiny bald man should not parade around in a plaid skirt (I don't care how comfortable he is with himself.) He taught the girls how to pose for catalog, commercial, and couture. As the girls showed off what they could do, Benny told Whitney she looks like Anna Nicole which is completely untrue.

When the girls got back to the house, it was time for some drama over phone time. Really? Doesn't this happen every cycle? Dominique was annoyed that Whitney's phone list wasn't totally clear and that her condescending looks piss everyone off. Then, out of nowhere, Dominique accused Whitney of being a racist. Yeah...it didn't make much sense to me either. Whitney didn't take it lightly and used some harsh (censored) words to defend herself. What good timing for a Tyra-mail. Since I could barely understand what the girls say when they yell in unison like 5 year-olds its always a surprise what Tyra has in store for them.

The ladies made their way to the 5 Pointz in Brooklyn where they participated in a pose-off challenge. Did it make anyone else think of Zoolander? First up, Dominique faced off against Claire and they tied. Lauren went up against Marvita and whooped her butt. Anya was against Stacy-Ann and Stacy-Ann took it. Whitney was pitted against Fatima (who tried to cheat) but Whitney won. Aimee went against Kat and Kat won the challenge for her team. In the end, Claire was awarded the extra gift (a trip to Bora Bora) while the rest of her team got to hit up a swag tent.

Back at the loft, the girls goofed off a bit while Fatima practiced her posing and complained (yet again) that nobody else takes the competition as seriously as she does. The next morning it was time to put all that practice to good use when the models woke up for their photo shoot. This week the idea was a bit more tame than the meat shoot. The girls were taking close-up shots with paint splattered all over their faces. While the other girls got their make-up done, Marvita got all down on herself and doubted her modeling abilities. Overall, Lauren, Stacy-Ann, and Claire rocked it while Whitney, Fatima, and Marvita struggled. Though my earlier prediction was that Dominique might be packing her bags, after the photo shoot it seemed Marvita would actually be the one not making it to the next elimination.

At the judging panel, Vendela questioned how serious Whitney is about the competition and Marvita was questioned about her recent depression. The rest of the girls seemed to take some good photos. When it came time to send someone home it was between Whitney and Marvita (I guess my whole horror movie analogy didn't really apply.) The judges sent Marvita home and gave Whitney the benefit of the doubt. Phew, I was convinced the plus-sized curse was rearing its ugly head again.

So there it is...another elimination. I was actually a little sad to see Marvita go home. She rubbed me the wrong way at first but they definitely did a great job in showing her friendlier side this week. Fatima, on the other hand, needs to go. It's great that she takes the competition seriously but nobody likes a teacher's pet. Plus, her beauty doesn't outshine her nasty attitude. But as we all know, the villain can't go home just yet. And although I haven't made reference to this in previous blogs, I noticed that Claire once again won Cover Girl of the week (for the 4th week in a row!) Good for her! She's done a great job modeling and has managed to stay out of all the drama. The only thing working against her is that none of us can really get past her breast milk comment from the auditions. I guess its a good thing we don't get to crown the winner. Finally, I'd like to bring up something I recently read about this show Did anyone else hear that Saleisha (last cycles winner) only got a 1 year contract instead of the usual 3 year sign-on with her agency? I found that incredibly funny since we've spent a lot of time bad mouthing her on this blog. Other than that, does anyone really think Dominique was right in calling Whitney a racist? Were the judges right in sending Marvita home? Does Anya ever say anything at all in the house or in the confessional? Ok...so I guess you can't really answer that last one but let us know what you think!

And...if you want to relive last week's meat photo shoot or perhaps check out something you missed in this week's show...you can find it in our online video guide.

Later gators!
Read Episode Recap: Where's the Beef
Oh boy! It's hump day and time for another session of Top Model mayhem. Of course by mayhem I mean loud screeching and loads of trash-talking. Last week, Allison was sent packing which eliminated a small portion of the cattiness in the house but we've still got a long way to go before this becomes a clean competition. This week, the girls finally got a chance to learn some things from Miss J and then utilized their newly acquired skills as they walked the runway in a Tuleh fashion show. Let's get to recapping!

The episode started out with a couple of the girls giving some friendly advice to Lauren about how she could stay in the judges good graces. Meanwhile, the leading candidate to win the title for cycle 10 villain, Fatima, sat alone and muttered to herself as she watched Aimis have fun with the other girls. I couldn't be more over Fatima constantly reminding us how badly she wants to win the competition. Every one of those girls is in it to win or else they would've dropped out with that other girl a few weeks back. If your only shot at success in this world is using your pretty face and petite frame to earn a living, it's gonna be a tough life. Consider learning Powerpoint or something as a fallback plan. Anyhow, a tyramail came in shortly after letting the girls know they'd be doing something related to fire. The girls were then taken to a fire station where Miss J tested the girls' ability to do a quick change and then walk the runway. Fatima was the only girl who failed to complete the wardrobe change. When it came to walking, Lauren and Fatima had the most trouble.

After returning home, the models were in quite the moods. Upon mentioning that she was going to be hitting the showers, Aimee felt the wrath of Marvita and Dominique who objected to the fact that she was going to be using one of the three bathrooms. When Whitney tried to come to Aimee's rescue, Fatima went on the attack and told the other girls to direct their comments to Whitney. I really had no clue why such a big stink was made but I imagine that so many girls got involved because it was an opportunity to get some more camera time. Some of these girls have yet to make a single comment in the confessional and yet every 5 minutes Fatima's got another thing to chime in about. Can you tell I'm starting to dislike her?

The next day the girls took what they learned at the fire station and used it as they walked in a Tuleh fashion show. Before the girls could being prepping, Miss J introduced suprise guests Ann Shoket (editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine) and Jaslene (cycle 8's winner) who let the models know the challenge prize was a spread with Jaslene in Seventeen. Apparently Jaslene's not quite out of our lives yet. With only a few minutes to change into their clothes, some of the girls had wardrobe malfunctions (Whitney and Fatima) while others just didn't walk well (Amis and Lauren.) When the winner was being announced, Jaslene called on Lauren and asked if she really wanted to be a model. It seemed to strike a chord with Lauren who finally seemed to acknowledge how badly she wants to be in this game. They should work out a deal where Lauren will take walking lessons if Jaslene goes into speech therapy. Accent, schmaccent! That girl's speaking issues go way deeper. Anyway, I digress. Katarzyna was crowned winner of the challenge.

When another Tyramail flashed on the board, it was time for this week's photo shoot. The girls made their way to the meat-packing district where they informed they'd be photographed wearing slabs of meat as clothing. Did anyone else get the impression they're running out of ideas for these shoots? Although some of the girls gave good shots, it seemed like many of them were trying to figure out a good angle to approach such a bizarre theme. My girl Lauren rocked it by evoking Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. Whitney also seemed to handle it well by acting frightened by the whole situation. Following the shoot, the ladies were told to prepare for another elimination.

As the girls lined up in front of the panel, Tyra decided to switch things up a bit by singing the judges names and the prizes they were playing for. It wasn't nearly as bad as her homecoming queen bit from the premiere but cringeworthy nonetheless. Just as Stacy-Ann pointed out before they left for panel, there was no doubt that Amis was going to get some major scolding for bumming it up for this week's elimination. These judges take everything seriously and she must have been crazy to think they wouldn't take notice of her lack of effort. But was it enough to get her sent home? Yeah, pretty much. After 10 cycles of this show, its clear that the one thing the judges can't stand is when a girl doesn't take the competition seriously and nobody makes a fool of Tyra Banks. Amis acted foolish throughout most of the episode both at the house with the other girls and even in front of Miss J at the firehouse lesson. When given the option to send home either Amis or Fatima, there was not really a choice to be made. Fatima's got the look and the drive (no matter how annoying she might be.) Later Amis!

In conclusion, I was completely content with the decision to send Amis home this week despite the fact that I'm still waiting to be wowed by some of the other girls like Stacy-Ann and Anya. Aside from my gripes with Fatima, I also have to say I don't think Dominique is really all that pretty to look at. She photographs well but whenever they show her moving around I question her appeal. I'm still standing by Lauren as my favorite and I'm really pulling for Whitney. Many of you disagreed with me saying that she looks fantastic with her new look but I will say it again. What do you guys think? Is it possible that this will be the year a plus-sized girl finally wins? Will Lauren's problematic walk earn her an early exit? Who's your early pick to win?

See ya next Wednesday!!!
Read Episode Recap: Top Model Makeovers
Well peeps, here we are! Another round of Top Model makeovers. Over the past 10 cycles, its become customary to expect dye-jobs, weaves, and disapproving looks from the Jay's as the girls undergo their transformations and cry throughout the whole thing. Will this year be any different? I'm thinking that's a big N-O. If there's one thing this show has kept interesting since the beginning, it's the makeovers. So let's get to recapping.

The episode started out with the girls lounging around the apartment talking about who they thought their biggest competition might be. Despite having been in the bottom 4 last week, Dominique seemed pretty confident in her modeling ability. Just as the girls were starting to get to know each other a little better, the doorbell rang and outside were 12 white bags filled with Applebottom products. Cue the screeching girls. While the rest of gals went gaga over their new stuff, Lauren once again expressed how much of a tomboy she is and how wearing high-heeled shoes is not her thing. By the way, maybe I missed it but did she ever explain why she auditioned for this show in the first place? Meanwhile, Allison took the time to let us know how much better she thinks she is than the rest of the girls because she has experience modeling overseas. We get one of those every season and they never last! Moving on, while still reveling in the excitement of their new threads the claws came out when Fatima asked for a definition of an apple-bottom. When the other girls told her that Allison's butt was the epitome of an apple-bottom, Fatima quickly retorted with "Well that's just cause she's a bigger girl!" Not cool! Upon hearing this, Allison ran into another room and immediately began measuring her waist and confessed off-camera to have struggled with an eating disorder all of her life. Fatima felt a bit of guilt for making that comment but insisted (just like every cycle's bitchy model does) that she's here to win and not make friends. Just in time to break the tension, a Tyramail came on the message board.

After a short ride in their limo taxi, the girls arrived at a Walmart for their first challenge. They met with Brent Poer from Covergirl who informed the models that their challenge was to shop for cosmetics to create a natural look for themselves in only 5 minutes. As the girls hustled around the Covergirl section, Allison announced how she thought she was doing better than the rest of the models. However, Claire was chosen as the winner and Allison was called out for overdoing it a bit. When the girls returned home, Claire confessed that she was in the competition to provide a better life for her child which inspired the rest of the models to share their own stories. Meanwhile, in the other room Allison and Fatima were still bickering. This time, Allison was playing with a barbie doll that she deemed to be Fatima and said "I'm Fatima, I like to take it in the back cause I'm black!" which sent Fatima over the edge. Although I completely disagreed with Fatima's earlier comments, Allison had no reason to bring Fatima's race into it. No amount of obnoxious comments from Fatima could have justified Allison turning this into a race issue.

The next day, the girls received another Tyramail informing them that it was makeover time. When they arrived at the salon, Mr and Miss Jay told them there were several surprises in store and only Tyra herself could tell them what they are. For this cycle, rather than telling the girls what they can expect from their new look, everything was going to be kept secret until the transformations were complete. So here's the rundown: Anya went platinum blonde, Whitney got a blonde weave, Aimee got a red dye-job and bangs, Marvita got what Tyra called a horse's mane, Lauren got a reddish-blonde weave, Katarzyna got a dark dye-job, Claire got shaved and dyed blonde, Fatima got a brown dye-job and a weave, Allison got a lighter dye-job, Dominique got chopped and dyed, Stacy-Ann got clipped, and Amis got a blonde weave. Overall, I thought the girls looked great but I'll have more on that later.

With their new looks, the girls were ready for their post-makeover photo shoot. Before the models could get in front of the camera, Mr. Jay introduced a surprise guest who could offer them some career advice: Elle Macpherson. As a complete 180 from Paulina's advice last week, Elle actually gave the girls some constructive criticism that they could take with them even after the competition. Fatima, Claire, and Aimee totally rocked their new look but Lauren, Allison, and Dominique seemed to struggle a bit. When the Tyramail came in letting the girls know they had to face the panel again, Lauren and Dominique were noticeably worried while Allison remained confident she'd still have her spot after elimination. The judges ripped into Allison's forced poses and criticized how the stylist seemed to cover up Whitney's curves (not her fault but they still seemed to hold it against her.) In the end, the judges had to choose between Dominique and Allison. They finally decided to send Allison packing. With all of her arrogance and trash-talking throughout the entire episode, I can't say I'm surprised.

Overall, I thought the girls look damn good with their new makeovers with a few exceptions. Marvita's mane makes her look like a reject from American Gladiators (though it does seem to photograph well.) Claire looks good but reminds me too much of 90's fitness guru Susan Powter. I have to say My favorite look goes to Lauren, Fatima, and Whitney. My least favorite would have to be Stacy-Ann. I think they could have done a much better job with her because the way she looks now she just doesn't stand out. So what's your take on the new looks? Have the makeovers given us a new favorite to win? Was Allison the right person to be sent home? Let us know.

And, as always, if you missed any part of this week's show, or to re-live old makeover memories...Check out Top Model in our Online Video Guide!

See ya next week!
Read Episode Recap: New York City, Here We Come
Here we go again! Last week Tyra and the Jay's picked the lucky 14 girls who would be heading to New York and moving into the house. But exactly how lucky were they? From the looks of things, this cycle won't be quite the cakewalk that previous seasons may have seemed. Along with the move back to New York city comes many other changes to Top Model. Now onto this week's recap.

Now, typically I'd skip right over the opening credits and get right into the action but if the producers worked hard enough to give us a brand new opening...why not take a minute to comment on it? All I have to say is: Tyra, Tyra, Tyra! I vaguely remember what the intro was like in past seasons but I truly don't remember it being this Tyra-centric. However, I should add that when they did eventually show the girls they looked great. Dare I say fierce? Anyhow, following the pretty new intro we watched as the girls arrived on the mean streets of NYC. They received their first piece of Tyra-mail which directed them to their new home. Let the screaming begin! As the girls' piercing screams echoed throughout the halls of their new home, one gal happened to notice the lack of bedrooms. Twist number 1! As TV Guide's own Michael Ausiello revealed to us in his vodcast a few months back, this cycle some of the girls will be sleeping on bunk beds while the rest are forced to share the blanket in one over-sized bed. As if there wasn't enough cat-fighting going on already?

Before the girls could get completely comfortable Mr. and Miss J arrived to take them on a tour of Manhattan. The final stop on their tour was Times Square where a runway was set up for the first mission. Without even a single lesson the girls were told they'd be walking in a Badgley Mischka fashion show in front of the massive crowds that congregate in the busiest neighborhood of the city. It was scary enough to give even the tough-as-nails Marvita butterflies. Nevertheless, the aspiring models were sent right into hair and make-up and prepared for their debuts. As the show came to an end, the girls made their way backstage and the claws came out once again. Though I didn't see anything go down, Marvita claimed that as Fatima came through the curtain her hand struck Marvita in the face and instead of apologizing for it Fatima just shot her a nasty look. Oh ladies...it's too soon to be at each others throats already!

With a new day came a new Tyra-mail. After rising from their beauty sleep and prepping themselves to start the day, the housemates made their way to Elite modeling agency where they were greeted by director Neal Hamil. Neil introduced the girls to supermodel (and Twiggy's replacement) Paulina Porizkova who was brought in to critique the girls on their pre-makeover look. Paulina held nothing back in pointing out all of their flaws. Despite being fairly accurate, many of her criticisms were just mean for the sake of being mean and not at all constructive (with exception to telling Marvita not to bite down on her back teeth.) Either way, at least she's got more personality than Twiggy. When the girls left Elite, a yellow limo taxi pulled up outside to take them to their next destination. I guess going green was only important in last year's cycle? The limo took the girls to their first photo shoot where Mr. Jay told them they'd be depicting an important social issue: homeless youth. The models were paired up with young homeless women and they decided to do a whole role reversal thing. The homeless women were dressed up in high fashion while the models were made up to look like vagabonds. To be honest, it seemed like the homeless girls were doing a better job posing than any of Tyra's picks. Fatima seemed to be the only one who showed any emotion during her shoot. Even Marvita who claims to have been homeless at one point in her life couldn't deliver when it came time to do so.

Back at the house, a third Tyra-mail informed the girls that the next day they would be standing in front of the judges for the first elimination. Many of the girls saw the down time as a chance to get to know one another. Kim made the mistake of telling Fatima that while she does enjoy modeling, she doesn't enjoy high fashion and the concept of paying $3,000 for a dress. The next day it was time to face the judges. Tyra announced that Paulina would officially be taking over for Twiggy on the judging panel. Before she could begin examining the week's photos, Tyra took the opportunity to share her own brush with homelessness when she pretended to be homeless for a day on her talk show. How brave?! As the examination got underway, the judges took a liking to Aimee, Claire, and Whitney but trashed on Atalya, Amis, and Alison. But when Kimberly announced to the judges that she was not interested in the whole fashion thing, she pretty much pushed herself out the door. Silly girl! Even though Kimberly voluntarily left the competition, Tyra told the 13 remaining girls that one of them was still going to be eliminated. They decided that Atalya was not fit to continue on. Adios Atalya!

As the first real episode that kicked off this cycle, I was pretty annoyed. The girls received absolutely no training to prepare them for the first challenge and I found the photo shoot to be rather disgusting. Parading prissy little wannabe models around struggling young women was just kind of evil. It did nothing to shed light on the issue. It seemed like the only one who took anything away from the experience was Kim by making her realize that the modeling world was not for her. I must admit however that I was glad to see Atalya sent home because I was thinking they were going to send Lauren packing for not knowing how to be a model. They really need to start teaching these girls some things or they'll never improve. So what'd you all think? Am I being too hard on Tyra and co. or was this episode just a little bit ridiculous? Was Atalya the right person to be sent packing? And what do we think of Paulina as the new Twiggy? Let us know.

And of course...if you missed any of the episode, you can find it in our Online Video Guide!
Read Episode Recap: Welcome to Top Model Prep
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to cycle 10 of America's Next Top Model! It seems like only yesterday we were all flipping out over Tyra's decision to crown Saleisha the cycle 9 winner. Now, in an attempt to inject a little life into the show, Tyra and co. are heading to Manhattan. Will a change of location be enough to get us disappointed fans interested again? I sure hope so.

After a short countdown of flashbacks from the past 9 cycles, the new season kicked off rather suddenly by introducing us to this years crop of 35 aspiring models as they rode a bus to Top Model Prep. Upon arriving, the two J's met with the girls and gave them the rundown for this year's competition. Before class could begin at Top Model Prep the hopefuls had to change into their school uniforms and pose for photo IDs. After that, it was off to runway class with Miss J. The class gave the girls a chance to prove their worth this early in the competition. Girls like Dominique and Fatima certainly proved they had the confidence to make it through to the house but we all know that Tyra prefers to mold her Top Model over taking a girl who thinks too highly of her own abilities.

Later in the day, the top 35 made their way to the football field for a pep rally featuring some familiar faces from past cycles including Jael, and twins Amanda and Michelle. It was here that Mr. and Miss J announced to the girls that this season will be taking place in New York City. The J's also announced that they were about to crown a homecoming queen. As all the girls began to get excited over the thought of being crowned homecoming queen and practically being offered a spot in the house, the real queen came busting out from behind the backdrop. Tyra had finally arrived! While performing her annual attempt at acting, one of the girls pulled a slick move to stand out among the crowd of screaming girls. Allison was the only girl smart enough to use the opportunity to make herself known as Tyra egged on the girls by pretending to be a promiscuous homecoming queen claiming to have slept with the other girls' boyfriends. Confused? Yeah, me too...but at a certain point you just have to accept that this is what Tyra does and enjoy her bizarre antics.

Following the pep rally, it was time for the girls to introduce themselves to Tyra and the J's while the rest of the girls waited together in the back room. As each girl came out and explained why they should be America's Next Top Model, the rest got to know their competition a little better. Negative criticism was tossed back and forth and a fight erupted when Fatima (the Somalian-born NYU student) said some of the other girls acted too ghetto. The girls were ready to throw down but quickly calmed down upon learning about Fatima's tragic past being a victim of female circumcision. Although most of the girls zipped their lips and helped to console Fatima, Marvita (the girl who is shaping up to be the instigator of the cycle) decided it would be appropriate to ask if being circumcised made her feel like less of a woman. This was one of those moments that regardless of being hard of hearing, it calls for some closed captioning to make sure you heard correctly and yes folks, she did in fact go there. Clearly the girl is not a Mensa member. Anyhow, after each girl had their time in front of the judges it was time for the first cut. I was happy with the decisions they made in who to send home first. Shaya, Shalynda, and Marguerite were all pretty girls but none of them had that Top Model look.

After the first cut, the remaining girls were told to put on identical outfits and apply their own makeup to add their own flair to the shoot. While most of the girls applied the typical makeup job, both Allison and Lauren (the punk rocker) saw an opportunity to once again make themselves stand out a bit. Fatima took a little longer to prep herself for the shoot but showed commitment to putting out the best quality photos she could produce. Shortly after, it was time for Mr. Jay to meet up with Tyra and Miss J to discuss the most recent set of photos and decide which 13 girls would be moving into the house. Those girls are: Allison, Fatima, Katarzyna, Kimberly, Stacy-Ann, Aimee, Amy, Claire, Whitney, Marvita, Lauren, Atalya, and Anya.

But wait...just when the tears started to flow and the chosen girls rejoiced, Tyra announced that one more girl would be joining the other 13 in the house. The late addition to the house was Dominique (the girl who has amazing self-confidence but the other girls described as an over-tanned drag queen.)

So there ya have it! The girls of cycle 10 have been chosen and a new season is underway in a new city. At the end of episode 1, I've gotta say I have a lot more hope for this season than I did at the start of the last cycle. My early favorites would have to be Claire (the girl who said she drinks her own breast milk,) Lauren (the punk rocker,) Allison (the tear-drop makeup girl,) and Fatima (the one who said the other girls were too ghetto.) I would have liked to see Kristen make it in over Kimberly (the ditzy blonder) or the incredibly annoying Stacy-Ann but I'm definitely satisfied with what we were given. Now we just gotta wait and see how the makeovers come out. I wonder if we'll have another Tootie on our hands. What did you all think? Are we getting off to a good start? Are you satisfied with this season's crop? Let us know!

And if you missed any part of the cycle 10 premiere, look for it in our online video guide!
Read Episode Recap: The Girl Who Becomes America's Next Top Model
Well folks, the time has come to crown another winner on America's Next Top Model. While I'd like to say it's been one hell of a season, it really hasn't been. As I got the chance to re-watch some of the episodes on MTV this past weekend, it occurred to me just how much this cycle didn't live up to the Top Model standard we've come to expect. The models were pretty but not nearly as likable as other years and the judges really started to bug me with how they treated some of the girls. Nonetheless, here we are at the final episode and we're left to choose between Saleisha (or should I say Tootie,) Chantal (Malibu Barbie,) and Jenah (not even worth a fun nickname.) So let's get to the recap.

With victory in sight, the three remaining girls reflected on their time in the competition and their expectations for the final two. It was interesting to hear Jenah tell Saleisha that she expected to go home if it was between them in the final two but she wasn't at all concerned about rival blonde Chantal. Based on looks alone Chantal blows Jenah away and when it comes to personality, the girl needs to learn that sometimes you just need to know when to tone it down. As I brought up last week when she started whining about trying to find herself, I don't see Jenah as having any kind of shot to take home the crown but it was nice to see she had high hopes for herself.

After a night of breathing easy and basking in the glory of making it this far, the girls had a meeting with Mr. J and the Cover Girl rep. to shoot their commercials. Before they could get in front of the cameras, Jaslene (last year's winner) came out and was supposed to offer the girls some tips but instead seemed to ramble on about how much things change once you go on Top Model. At least we can be thankful she didn't offer any acting tips. Anyhow, this year the girls were promoting some sort of fruity lip gloss spray concoction and each was assigned a different fruit flavor. Chantal was given lemon, Saleisha got tangerine, and Jenah got grape. Chantal nailed her spot in just a few takes and in my opinion, looked absolutely amazing and the most like a model in front of the camera. Saleisha had a rough start, broke down a bit, and then went back in front of the camera to give it her all. Jenah got her lines down but gave off an attitude that didn't sit well with Mr. J.

When it was time to face the judges, the girls were asked to prove how well they know their competition but in reality, Tyra just wanted to create some friction by having the girls announce who the weakest link was. Both Saleisha and Chantal said they felt Jenah didn't have what it takes to be a Cover Girl and Chantal went so far as to say that she wouldn't want her younger sister looking up to Jenah. Although I've already spent a good portion of this blog expressing how much I don't want Jenah to win, that comment was totally uncalled for. While Jenah may not have what it takes to win this thing, she's by no means a bad person or a bad role model. I completely agreed with her statement that just because she isn't always smiling it doesn't mean that younger girls can't look up to her. If anything, it makes her more relatable. It's obvious that the attitude she gives off comes from her inse
