Read A Wycked Pick: The Secret Life of the American Teenager
Usually I don't have the time to watch TV anymore due to my busy schedule, but today I manage to make time for a new show called The Secret Life of the American Teenager. It's about a 15 year old taking on the obstacle of becoming a teenage mother. It's kinda Juno-esque. While it may be a familiar theme on TV, it is probably the first show where the premise is centered around an unplanned teenage pregnancy. This is a topic that was handled by Brenda Hampton, creator of 7th Heaven. I gotta give ABC Family and Hampton their props for airing this show. With all the controversy surrounding Jamie Lynn Spears unplanned pregnacy/motherhood, it's nice to see a show that can help most understand that this is what is going on around us more now than ever. I personally recommend watching this show. And while it might not change your views on young girls getting pregnant nowadays, it might change your view on what it was like being a teenager going through the pressures of having sex.

What's your take?

The fall season is here now, and there have been some good shows and some bad shows. And since TVGuide.com has their own Cheers and Jeers section, I figured why don't you tell me your personal Cheer and Jeer.

Which shows need to be given a chance?

Which shows need to be dropped quickly?

And can anybody, ANYBODY, please tell me what the hell is going on with Britney Spears' new video? Just wonderin'

Well, not really. But I'm going on hiatus for a bit to get my eduction on, so don't be suprised that you see another blog entry (or snarky comment) from me later on in the future. And honestly, most of the things that I told you all was never shared with anyone else so that should mean something. Anyway I got to go.

Until then,

Read A "Wycked" Rant: It Totally Went There!
If you're an avid soap watcher such as myself, you would know that last week, daytime has once again raised the bar and raised a few eybrows by showing what will probably go down in soap history as one of the most talked about and most memorable scenes in daytime. The soap in particular that I'm referring to is As the World Turns, and the scene I'm talking about was between two male characters; Luke Snyder (played by Van Hansis), the son of supercouple Lily and Holden Snyder, and Noah Mayer (played by Jake Silbermann). Just so we can get caught up, let me quickly sum it up: boy meets boy, boy crushes on boy, other boy told him he wasn't gay, but didn't mind their friendship. Then other boy ends up with boy's best friend who happens to be a girl. Boy is is still not convinced that other boy is with the right person, which was proven in this climatic scene here. Then it happened, a threatened boycott, complaints, complaints, and more complaints about this kiss and how it doesn't "fit in with my moral values and therefore I can't watch the show anymore", and "I just can't relate to it", or "I have kids who might see that". And here's another funny quote, "It doesn't go with the morals of the show." Really? With the evil twins, murder plots, plastic surgery to look like someone else and the constant "keeping it in the family" hookups and with all of the infidelity and out of wedlock kids running rampant on that show, a simple 10 second same sex kiss between two guys doesn't fit with the morals of the show? How so? Are people still this closeminded in this day and age that you have to find a such a stupid reason to be ignorant? I'm sorry, that's.....harsh! But it is the truth, in a way. I know that there are still some who are uncomfortable with the whole gay issue, but it's situations like this where it needs to be discussed. We've came a long way where the generation of yesterday had to go through hell and back to fight for equal rights for everybody that matters. Why is it so hard to accept this as a right worth fighting for? When will people finally start opening up their minds and not look at it as two men (or two women), but as two people who are in love, and a kiss is just a kiss? Anyway, while some people are still on their soapboxes, I'll step off mine and give major props to ATWT for going through with this storyline and showing an example of how a storyline should be without holding anything back. Well, until the next "who's your daddy" plot.

Read Breaking the Taboo
We've come a long way from what was once considered taboo in the field of entertainment, where certain things were not to be discussed or even a topic of conversation. Let's go all the way back to where the subject of taboo was nothing but an opening of Pandora's Box. Where it was more of an exploration of what people was actually thinking (or feeling), but couldn't express it. Think back to where the first time a curse word was used in a movie, or the first time we saw a love scene, or nudity on national tv. Most notable, Dennis Franz's backside in an episode of NYPD Blue.

Now at the turn of the 21st century, you would think that we couldn't be more shocked than ever at what our eyes captures. These days, it's more about shock value than it is about "breaking the taboo".

What moment in entertainment do you consider taboo or memorable?

Discuss.
