Heroes and Hero-worship

by Tarot
Read I'm featured in Heroes: Behind the Eclipse!
Hello all. I just wanted to post here and to my other blogs that I was featured in this article over at Comic Book Resources . They actually used my questions for part 1 of the Q&A! Excerpt below:

"Tarot wrote in to ask:

In Volume 2, we briefly saw Peter enjoying the darker side of his powers as he choked one of the Irish guys. Does this mean you're going to turn him evil? Say it ain't so! For that matter, what clues can you offer on the evolution of Peter’s character?

We all know that “With great power comes great responsibility.” “But we also know that “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” So basically Peter will find himself torn between these two platitudes. It’s Lord Acton vs Stan Lee in abattle for the ages. So stay tuned.

Tarot continued:

Several times in Volume 2, we saw that Bob has a whole bunch of files in his office filled with information on the Company founders and their children -- I remember seeing boxes for Angela, Bob, and Elle (even though Elle's had been emptied by Bob.) Are there more files on the Petrelli boys and Matt?

Yes.

Will we ever see what's inside them?

Maybe.

Count Tarot Ultra-Curious, as he (or is it a she) finished with this query:

I want to know, even if I can't be told when to expect him, if Claude is still alive and safe. If that can't be answered, can you clue us in to how Claude survived being shot by Noah and whom he was hiding?

Claude is still alive. We cannot clue you into how he survived being shot. And if we told you who he was hiding, he wouldn’t exactly be hiding him or her anymore, would he?"

It's been so long since I'd sent that in, that all I recalled in detail was asking about Claude. I think I'd asked a lot of other stuff not just due to curiosity but in case NONE of my Claude-related querys were answerable. At least what little they did say regarding Claude confirms some of what I've seen in my cards. The rest, we'll see. And if anyone is still wondering I'm most definitely a SHE.
Read Fire Safety!
Fire safety!
I had heard the audio clip for this but only found the You Tube video today (not graphic but scary when you think about it):

(While he's not in the video that is Christopher Eccleston's voice narrating this...my hero:)) So people, make a good escape plan in case of Fire or whatever!
Read Tuesday someone really made my day
I'm still not sure whom to thank, but when I got in form work yesterday, Tuesday 17, June, 2008, I read the latest Heroes Graphic Novel online like I usually do. (Number 90). The story was great and the artwork was great, but there was also an easter egg, which was something I'd very much wanted to see for a long time. So to the whole GN team, thanks guys for everything. You really made my day!
Read Christopher Eccleston's next Movie!
Hello all. I just got word that Christopher Eccleston will be doing another movie now that GI Joe has nearly wrapped up. That movie will be Amelia, about Amelia Earhart. Hilary Swank will be in the title role and Chris will be playing Fred Noonan. More details here:
Variety

I'm thrilled to have another film/project of Chris' to look forward to, though I am hoping he will also have time to make an appearance on Heroes as Claude.
Read Driving Safely
Warning this is graphic!!!! Oddly enough a fellow fan of Christopher Eccleston found this You Tube video. If you don't like of can't take graphic then don't watch.

It gets the point across. I wish they could show it on TV as I think it would make teens and others think twice about driving unsafely.
Read Christopher Eccleston is DESTRO!!!
Well, I still don't have much in the way of deails. What I can tell you is that the new live action GI JOE movie is supposed to have a lot of back story including why Destro wears a mask. Also, the LA filming is done and the cast are headed for Prague. I also have a link to a new picture of Chris as Destro. That image is brought to you from this site (with accompanying article): http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4833&Itemid=99
I'll post more details as I get them.
Read Sexiest Stars
I'm glad they are doing this, though it seems my hero has been left out again. I'm talking about the fantastic Christopher Eccleston, of course. I know the current most popular folks made it into the sexiest stars issue, but seriously, Chris needs at least a page. This talented actor is sexy without even trying and he's quite a humanitarian as well. Furthermore, Chris made his largest impact on TV, so why shouldn't TV guide give a few of us fangirls a few pictures to oogle at the vey least. I suppose I shall have to sift through my archive of my computer.
Read Looks like my hero is playing another villain
I know that much is being kept under wraps but what I do know is there is a new, live action GI Joe movie being filmed and my hero, Christopher Eccleston, is playing the part of Destro. Filming is underway, and the movie is due out Summer 2009. I will post more details as I get them but I thought I ought to post that much.

OK Those still with me. A friend on a Christopher Eccleston fansite sent me this link:

http://io9.com/357955/new-sulu-and-hulk-pics

The relevant bits are:

Heroes volume 3 will reveal more about the company, and we'll meet a French woman named Sophie (Jessica Collins) who works for another organization that tracks super-powered mutants. (Or maybe a French branch of the Company?) Villains known as the "twelve Sylars" escape from holding cells. We'll see Christopher Eccleston's invisible guy and finally learn what Hiro's dad's superpowers were/are.

So it looks like my wish may come true and Claude will return.

A friend on MySpace sent me this other link:

http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=view&album=Mezco%2FHeroes%2FSeries_2&pic=Invisible_Man.jpg&dispsize=600&start=0

And it looks like I'll get the Claude action figure I was hoping for.
Read Why I love Chris (my hero)
To be sure, I did find him gorgeous, even before I fell for him. I found him attractive, charismatic. He just has such presence on screen, whether it be a movie screen in a theater or a small screen of a TV. Sadly, I have yet to see Christopher Eccleston on stage.
The first piece I saw Chris in was Elizabeth, at the movie theater, as the Duke of Norfolk. I never really saw the Duke as a villain, even then. I saw him more as a man on the wrong side of history. I’m sure Chris’ portrayal has a lot to do with that. The next film I saw Chris in was The Others, which somehow I’d missed at the box office, but my dad had rented the DVD. Granted Chris is only in it briefly but his performance as Charles is no less impacting. I’d always thought they could have still told the story and had a bit more of him in the picture. For those that have not seen this movie, I won’t spoil it save to say that Chris’ Charles is most definitely a World War II solider and clearly shell shocked.
After that, I must admit, I lost track of Chris’ career until Sci-Fi Channel imported the 2005 series of Doctor Who in March 2006. I’d been a fan of the old series since 1978, and Chris as the Doctor held my attention from “Run!” in “Rose.” It wasn’t just the writing, or the effects, or the dialogue. What really got my attention and held me riveted was the raw emotion, the way Chris can convey so much with just a look, or an action, or a subtle movement. Until I saw Chris as the Ninth Doctor, I had been a diehard fan of the Fourth Doctor. Chris’ Doctor quickly became my favorite and more. I was sad to learn that by the time the US had begun to broadcast the 2005 series, Chris had already moved on. I did preorder the boxed set once Amazon had it available, and wound up getting a copy of The Second Coming at the same time, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Some time later, I rented Jude and I found my way to numerous Chris related websites both on LJ and elsewhere.
I’ve never had the honor of meeting Chris, and I don’t know if I ever will. At the time of this missive, I have acquired numerous DVD’s of Chris’ work, seen The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising 9 times in the theater, done numerous Chris-related graphics projects, and am eagerly awaiting the release of New Orleans Mon Amour as well as hoping for the return of Chris to Heroes as Claude. The invisible man will always have a special place in my heart, even despite the fact that Claude would likely storm away from me or scoff. So until my luck changes, I’ll just continue to admire this amazing man and fantastic actor from afar.
There’s a lot I don’t know about him, and yet what little I do know, I find quite appealing. I know he has been involved with Charity work, most notably Red Cross and Mencap. I know he does not seek out publicity. If anything, from what I’ve seen, unless he’s doing something work related, or cause related, he tends to stay out of the spotlight. All very admirable traits. I know he follows futbol and has been known to play, and I know he runs marathons. I wonder if he’d mind me cheering from the sidelines.
When I’m having a bad or tedious night at work, I have a few pictures of Chris that I keep on my desk and I will glance over at them and I can’t help but smile. As I said, maybe we’ll never meet, maybe I’ll never be able to see Chris on stage, but I am glad of what access I do have to his work. Everyone needs a hero to look up to; Chris is mine.

(Warning Spoilers thru episode 11 of season2 and Graphic Novel 62!)

Peter- I’m glad Nathan got through to him. Granted, Adam did make good on his promise to heal Nathan, but last season Peter trusted Hiro enough to kill him if need be and here it looked very much like Peter was trying to kill Hiro before Matt and Nathan showed up. I must say, even though I didn’t like it, the fight with Hiro was longer than I expected and at least interesting to watch. At last a practical use for the late Ted’s power was revealed as Peter “nuked” the virus. Where he has Adam and Claire’s power, does that mean his blood can heal too? And what will happen to Caitlin now that the future she was in no longer exists?

Adam- I’m a bit disappointed in him. I’d hoped he had mellowed after being cooped up 30 years, but it was as I had feared after reading Graphic Novels 60 and 61: he has a god complex. I’m not sure is Hiro’s solution will help or hurt that as he trapped Adam but did not kill him, which means he can return, theoretically.

Hiro- I like that he is trying to be a hero but I still wish he had left Japan before Yaeko fell for him and he kissed her. I have to wonder why he didn’t behead Adam. Granted the live burial reminds me of “A Cask of Amontillado,” but, given that Adam can heal from anything but a headshot, again I still wonder, if Hiro’s solution hasn’t hurt rather than helped as opposed to an outright beheading.

Nathan- I like that he was using his power and that he wanted to reveal the existence of specials to the world. I liked both his speech to Peter and the one he was interrupted while making. I was afraid something was going to happen when I saw the hidden camera in the vault, but wasn’t sure exactly what would happen once Matt had done his bit to help, but I was hoping, even with a few online spoilers I had read, that it wouldn’t be what we saw. A friend of mine thinks it’s HRG who shot Nathan. I’m hoping they can get him some of Claire’s blood, or that Peter’s can save him. After all, it worked to save HRG. And the MSNBC mike was a nice touch.

Matt- Nice to see him trying to help with his powers. It looked like he was trying to mentally “talk” to Peter rather than just pushing him. I still hope he doesn’t become another Maury. I liked his line when he sees Hiro “Who’s this guy supposed to be?” I also like his speech about “How much longer are we going to have to clean up their mess?” in reference to problems caused by the 12’s actions. I would like to know what else the 12 did and what everyone’s powers were and what can be done about all of it, if a full reveal is not the answer.

Angela- I really don’t like her. Where she merely annoyed me in season 1 (I had liked her when she first appeared) now I wish Maury had finished her off, except for the information she gave. I don’t like that she is so willing to sacrifice her sons or how cold she gets. It seems like when I think she can’t possibly be any colder she some how does just that. What does she mean by “You do know that you’ve now opened Pandora’s Box?” If not for her “It was unavoidable” comment, I would have thought she meant she was going to revenge Nathan.

Claire- She’s brave, but I don’t know if her going public would have helped or hurt. I’m glad she did get to see HRG, her dad again. The look on her face was priceless when HRG returned. I wonder what she will do now that she isn’t going for a reveal. I also wonder how she will react to Nathan’s shooting.

West- I like that he tried to talk to Claire, and he seems like he does care, but I still have to wonder what else he’s up to. And where and who are his parents? I did like the Graphic novel flashback tie in, even if his parents aren’t shown.

HRG- It’s interesting that He left records of his Company doings at home. I like his honesty with Elle. It’s noble that he gives up his life to save his family, but I have to wonder why the Company wants him so badly. What “deal” did he cut with the Company? And did he shoot Nathan? A friend of mine thinks he was the “Unknown Assassin.”

Bob- Needs to die soon. He takes no responsibility for anything. I hate what he did to Elle and what he repeatedly does to her presently. I also want to know why he and the others even kept Strain 138 of the Shanti Virus.

Elle- I no longer hate her and I do feel a bit sorry for her. I still don’t like that clingy thing she did with both Mohinder and Peter but, after watching how Bob treats her and hearing some of what HRG knew, all I see now is a little girl desperate for her daddy’s approval. I’m glad she fought Sylar and saved Mohinder, Molly, and Maya. I hope she breaks free of this need for Bob’s approval. She has the potential to be so much better.

Sylar- As much as he scares me, and even as manipulative as he is, I still can’t hate him, and I don’t know why. Now he is back and as dangerous and twisted as ever. Why did the Company go to such great lengths to save him? Even in season 1 they would not authorize HRG and his team to kill him. Why did they not do more to ensure that he was not going to escape? And how many more villains will we see given that Volume 3 is called “Villains?”

Mohinder- I have to wonder if he will now see the Company for what it is. Surely between the fact he was under surveillance and the fact that Sylar had the Company modified Shanti Virus should show him that they cannot be trusted. And whom did he hire as a babysitter? He needs to fire that babysitter and hire a new one!

Molly- I like her willingness to help others and how she embraces her gift. She even tried to help Maya who had come with Sylar.

Maya- I’m glad she finally realized what Sylar was. It was ironic that she fell exactly where Isaac had been, when Sylar shot her. I wonder what if anything she will do with her gift. I shudder to think what the Company or Sylar would do with it.

Niki- She died a Hero, but I don’t think that even Claire’s blood can save her. I liked her and will miss her. It was nice to see her take out the arsonist/kidnapper even if she didn’t have her power. It seemed she was finally getting her life on track and was supposed to get a cure from Mohinder, but how could she have survived not only the fire but the explosion as well?

Micah- He’s amazing with his gift. I hope he continues to embrace it and tries to do good with it. Now he has lost both parents and I have to wonder how it will affect him.

Monica- I wish she could have escaped the thugs on her own. I don’t blame her for being scared. I wonder if she will continue to embrace her gift after this incident. I hope she will embrace it but with caution.

Claude- Still MIA and still very much missed. I have to wonder if he wouldn’t say to Adam what he’d said to Peter “Well, I’m not very much of a people person but I’m certainly not going to let you kill them all.” All I could think of was that quote of his while regarding the Shanti Virus Strain 138.

Peter- It’s noble that he wants to save the world and that he hasn’t abandoned Caitlin, but he’s just blindly following Adam. It’s very in character for him to tell Victoria exactly why he’s come to see her. Last season Peter trusted Hiro enough to kill him to prevent him exploding. Now it seems he’s willing to fight Hiro to protect Adam. Granted, he did try to talk to Hiro but a fight looks inevitable. It looks like he did time travel to 2007 again at the start of the episode. What keeps pulling him back to the present and why is it always about the same point on the same day of 2008?

Adam- After the graphic novel, I have to wonder if he hasn’t gone insane after 400 years, or could it be that he seeks the mutated strain of the virus so he can finally die? Granted he’s getting revenge on the Company founders, but this may just be him putting his affairs in order. The only other likely scenario is that he’s gone insane and thinks he’s a god. I know his original plan was to release the virus much like Linderman and his plan with the bomb. I wonder who was aiding him back in 1977. Was it Linderman? I also have to wonder at how he and Peter just walked into Primatech in Texas. As I recall, Matt and Audrey had a much harder time even with the FBI force.

Victoria Pratt- I have to wonder if she had a power. There wasn’t as much of her as I’d hoped to see in this episode. At least it’s now revealed she was a biological engineer. It’s also revealed she went against the Company and refused to do further research. I have to wonder why the Company didn’t pursue her and exactly what role Angela had in helping Victoria get to Maine. I wonder if she was really going to shoot Peter in the head and how she knew that it would kill someone with Adam’s gift.

Sandra- I like that she pulled the gun that Noah had left on Bob, though I doubted she’d shoot actually Bob unless he went for Claire. It’s interesting that she let Claire scatter HRG’s ashes. I think she’s stronger than she lets on. How will she react to the news that Noah isn’t really dead?

Claire- I’m wondering exactly how those wind chimes work. I’m also wondering where the Haitian went. If Claire winds up as long lived as Adam, I worry about what might happen to her. I like that she got to scatter HRG’s ashes (even if they weren’t really him). I like that she didn’t run from Elle but confronted her. The punching the car window was a nice touch. I’m wondering if she will repeat what she said in her eulogy to HRG when he returns next episode.

West- I like him talking Claire out of calling the Haitian and it looks like he honestly cares for Claire but I just can’t shake the feeling that he has some hidden agenda of his own. I’m also curious about his speech to Claire and where his parents are. Did he lose his dad?

Bob- I’m hating him more and more each episode. I saw the blatant manipulation he did with Elle. He talks of responsibility and trust. He takes no responsibility and I haven’t trusted him since I first saw him. I doubt he’ll do as Mohinder asked. I get the impression he’ll only keep Mohinder around as long as he has to.

Elle- I still don’t like her but I do feel sorry for her because of what Bob pulled on her this episode. I wonder if this is how her whole child hood etc has been. I wonder what she will do now that Claire has confronted her. It would be nice if she turned her back on Bob the Company and joined Claire.

HRG- I’m glad he’s not dead though I find it ironic that he was shot by Mohinder, his would-be partner. I have to wonder why the late Ivan was so keen to get him back in the Company and also if anyone besides Suresh knows that he’s not dead. I doubt Suresh could have moved him alone or that he could get access to Claire’s blood without at least Bob’s approval. I’m also wondering about the deal he speaks of in the preview.

Mohinder- I’m getting annoyed with him. He’s such a sheep, a brainwashed sheep. Saving Niki is noble but the rest is being a zombie slave. Maybe Sylar’s visit will wake him up. I am glad however that he found a cure for the virus. Now if he could find a cure for Strain 138 would be great, but right now I’m aggravated with him.

Micah- I like that he embraces his power and wants to be a hero. He makes a good team with Monica though I wish there had been a safe way for him to warn her about the return of the thugs.

Monica- I like that she has embraced her gift but I don’t like the fact that the thugs got her. I’m still worried about what else Bob may have put on her i-pod. It very much looks like she will become the “St. Joan” predicted by Isaac’s comic book, but right now things don’t look good.

Nana- I’m glad that she stepped in and told Damon he had to talk to the police. Damon is being a jerk and I’m amazed he hasn’t learned to respect his cousin, especially after Micah got him pay per view. I hope Nana keeps a tight reign on him.

Niki- I like that she was honest with Micah about the virus and the other personalities. I’m not so happy about the fact that she’s afraid to do some thing positive with her power. I wonder if the virus has nullified it. Granted DL died rescuing her but he made a great firefighter and even saved a life without endangering himself there. I have to wonder if the Company didn’t brain wash her like they did Mohinder.

Maya- While it’s a good thing she can control her power now, I wonder how much longer Sylar will keep her around. I know she’s fallen for him, which explains her inability to see Sylar for what he is and that he is using her.

Sylar- Looks like his intuitive aptitude still works either that or he has a psychology degree. It’s interesting that he tells the truth to Maya about his mother’s murder. He has done a lot of horrible things but I don’t think he meant to kill his mother last season. I do think that was accidental. I know he’s using Maya but I have to wonder if he’s developing feelings for her. How will he explain to Maya that it’s Dr. Mohinder Suresh he’s brought her to see and not Dr. Chandra Suresh?

Alejandro- It very much looks like he’s dead, unless he’s yet another special who can heal himself. He saw through Sylar but not far enough. I don’t think he hated his sister but may have been angry with her for killing his wife. I wonder if Maya had told her brother about the fact that she had caught his wife was cheating on him with her ex boyfriend.

Hiro- I like him taking initiative but I wish he’d get more facts before he acts, like why his father didn’t order Strain 138 destroyed. I know he wants to avenge his father’s death but I don’t think attacking Peter will help matters.

Kaito- I had wondered how they would show him in the past, given that it wasn’t a flashback. I’m wondering why he didn’t just destroy that strain of the virus. There were other not so dangerous strains, so why keep something that dangerous and incurable around.

Ando- I like that he’s back with Hiro. They make a great team. “Why is saving the world always your responsibility?” was a great line. Last season it was “I wish destiny would lose our number.” I like that he’s cautioning Hiro as well as working with him.

Claude- I’m wondering if he knew about the virus. I know he knew about the Company doing less than ethical experiments on specials (heroes); he’d said as much to HRG before HRG shot him. Did those experiments involve the virus or was all that as shut down as Bob claims it was? In any event, I miss him and wish he’d return and I also prefer that he not get the virus. Maybe he could wake a few people up. I have to wonder how he’d react to what happened to HRG.

Elle- I still don’t like her and I don’t feel sorry for her. What was done to her was awful but that does not give her or anyone else the right to be so sadistic. Others have suffered as much if not worse than she has and aren’t tormenting others with their gifts. Now if they would show Elle honestly worried about someone other than herself or doing something decent and not treating everyone like objects, maybe I’d feel sorry for her. Right now she reminds me far too much of someone I despise in reality, though fortunately he can’t throw electricity. I will say this, although I don’t like this character, I’ve recently seen Kristen Bell OOC and this is a credit to her abilities as an actress.

Bob Bishop- I know his last name and that he’s Elle’s dad…and I’m really starting to hate him. What he did to Elle, his own daughter, is inexcusable and I hope Adam gets him. I knew there was a reason I didn’t trust him. I’ll bet he put subliminal crap in that i-pod he gave Monica too.

Claire- I like that she wants to help, even as nasty as she believes the Company to be and as nasty as Bob and Co. have been to her. I feel badly that she believes her dad is dead and that her last words to him were “I hate you.” I so hope that they are reunited, soon!

Noah (HRG) - Sandra actually used his first name! I like that he finally showed Sandra the painting and came clean with her about West. He should have done so sooner. It’s ironic how it’s Claire’s blood that brought him back. While I’m glad he’s not dead, I have to wonder what diabolical plans the Company has in store for him. (and where did those ashes come from?)

Mohinder- While I accept the fact that he’s supposed to be one more at home in a lab or a classroom, I’m starting to lose a lot of respect for him. I almost wish HRG had shot him.

Matt- It’s nice that he’s advancing his powers and trying to do good with them, but he’s skating a thin line. I really hope Matt doesn’t become another Maury.

Molly- She’s cute and I’m glad she’s sleeping well and nightmare free (wish I could). She used to creep me out a bit, and now that “nightmare man” isn’t plaguing her, I have to wonder if that wasn’t due to him as well.

Hiro- I really enjoyed the interaction between him and Kaito. I wish they’d shown us what Kaito’s power was. I do like that Hiro got to say goodbye and didn’t fracture time in the process. I also like that he did stay around to find out who killed Kaito.

Adam- Now it’s confirmed that he killed Kaito but we don’t know why. Was it revenge on Hiro, or was it revenge on the 12 for imprisoning him for 30 years, or was it both? Is he as bad as Bob said or does he still have good in him? Interesting back-story in the Graphic Novel.

Angela- I like that she finally shed light on matters but Matt had to push her to do so. I still want to know what her power is and how she can fight Matt. What she has suspiciously looks like manipulation.

West Rosen- I like how he tried to help both Claire and HRG but I still don’t trust him. And where are his parents? Why haven’t we seen them? At least we have his last name now.

Subtitles- I don’t mind them but I do wish that the 2 screen would not ask questions while they are on. I can’t read both!

Claude- Wherever you’ve gone I miss you and wish you well.
