TV Guide magazine has an article this week with the above title. After reading it, I was steamed, to say the least. Dawn Ostroff obviously cares about building a network that creates and airs shows that are of little substantive value. In the article, she says that " Gossip Girl is the poster child and it will be joined by a number of shows that are in that milieu." For those of you who have read my blogs and posts in the past, it goes without saying that Supernatural is one of my favorite shows. This excellent gem of a show has the misfortune of airing on the CW, where it is undervalued, underappreciated, and woefully underpromoted. And I have had my fill of it. With the influx of "female-oriented" shows, I worry about how Supernatural fits into the scheme of things for Ms. Ostroff. Supernatural is not a show that appeals only to a younger crowd. Most of my Supernatural blogging friends are over age 30 and from what I can tell, the fans of this show include everyone from teenagers to grandmothers! I dare say that the shows that will air on the CW next year will not have the same audience. Supernatural deserves so much better.

For those of you who may be interested, below are links to programs and specials CNN will air tomorrow for World Autism Day. Also, remember that April is National Autism Awareness month, so for those of you who know someone with autism, wear a ribbon, make a donation, sign up for one of the many walks taking place across America in April, say a prayer or commit in some way to help those with this disorder. Even if you don't know someone with autism right now, chances are you will, since 1 in 150 children will be diagnosed. 90% of those will be boys. Very little is understood about this disorder and its origins and why some families may only have one diagnosed child and other families may have several. It continues to mystify and frustrate so many people. So next time you run across someone who has a child or children dealing with this disorder, say a kind word, give them a hug or a shoulder. It will mean more than you could ever know. Thanks for your time. http://www.autism-society.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=11007&news_iv_ctrl=-1

Earlier this month
Although I'm sure the news of Jared Padalecki and Sandy McCoy's engagement will come as no suprirse to Supernatural fans, it is still wonderful news. From what I've read and seen (and heard from people who have seen them together), the two of them are meant to be together and are blissfully happy. Jared and Sandy, best wishes for a long and happy life together!

Tonight, Larry King will host a show about autism. ( This show was originally scheduled for two weeks ago, but was preempted in favor of an interview with John McCain.) One of Larry's guests will be Jason McElwain, the teenager who put a face to autism and inspired countless people with his courage and athletic ability two years ago. The video of him shooting baskets was on YouTube (and still is, if you'd like to see it) and was viewed by millions. Also on the show will be Holly Robinson Peete, Doug Flutie and Toni Braxton, all of whom have autistic sons. I encourage you to watch this, if for no other reason than to be inspired. So much progress has been made in the diagnosis of autism, and the future is not as bleak for these kids as it once seemed. It should be a wonderful, worthwhile hour for everyone to watch. Thanks for your time.

Serious Sam
What an incredible episode this was! The brotherly moments were very satisfying. When Sam told Dean to please act like his brother - "just because" - well, how much more heartwarming of a line is there? It was so refreshing for the boys not to be arguing and for Dean to drop his heavily fortified defense walls. Sam is 100% Sam. I'm convinced of that. He was back to his old self, showing compassion to the victims of the vampire. And to Dixon himself, in a way. But then he killed Gordon with barbed wire - what a sight! It was scary and yet thrilling. I know there are fans who wanted Gordon to live because he was such a "good" bad guy, but I'm glad to see him go. There are numerous other maniacs and demons only too happy to take Gordon's place. Having said that, though, I was touched by the scene between Gordon and Kubrick. They seemed like they had formed a sort of friendship. Kubrick showed his humanity by attempting to kill Gordon, but Gordon killed him instead, intent on saving the world from Sam. As twisted as he was, Gordon firmly believed that he would be doing the world a favor by ridding it of Sam. Jared - oh, Jared - the puppy dog eyes! They were all throughout this episode. Can anyone do puppy/sensitive eyes any better? The end scene was one of the best and saddest so far this season for me - Dean teaching his little brother how to car for the Impala. The torch was passed. Your thoughts?

I'm getting this blog started prior to the show just to get it up and running. Ocean: Fire up the Jensen blog, too! If you have read Mary's blog, you all know we need to show as much support as we can to our show and our guys... I'll be back after the show.
