Spotlight on Jared Padalecki: Time Is On My Side
Hi all!
Gabs is on vacation, so she asked me to post the Spotlight on Jared blog for her on tonight's episode. What did everyone think?
All I know is when I close my eyes tonight to go to sleep, I'm going to be seeing Sam's taped open with a horrible serrated scoop right there!

Damn but that scoop actually looked like it started to enter the eyesocket, didn't it? *shivers*
I remember on the dvd extras for BUABS, Jared mentioned that he was wet for like 10 hours or something while they were filming the scene when Dean threw holy water on him. I wonder how long he had to spend with his eyes taped like that. *shivers again*
I'm still absorbing the episode (I like to watch it about 4 times or so before I go to bed). Is it just me or did Jared get a haircut?

Oh I KNOW, Met! OMG, I FREAKED OUT, that scoop was RIGHT THERE!!! How does Jared sleep at night after having had to act out that scene?!?! I'm sure they took safety precautions and whatnot but OMG!!! It was RIGHT THERE!!! So, OMG, while at the same time I wanted something to snap him back to REALITY and REASON, Sammy broke my heart so bad this episode. For him, always the logical and sensible one, to hinge his hopes on such a crazy idea as zombified immortality, to try to find Dean's salvation in the ideas of an obviously insane man, for him to sink to THAT kind of desperation, absolutely tore me to shreds. And the looks on his face, the cracking of his voice when he was wanting so bad to give it a chance...*sobs* And the chills in this eppy, OMG...that doctor thing was CREEPY!!! I shrieked when he broke through the car window and started bashing Sam's head against the steering wheel, and I shrieked even louder when Sam was ambushed with that chloroform rag when he was on the phone with Dean! And you already know how I felt about the strapped down part...the eye thing *shudders head to toe*, even before the scooper when Doc Zombie was just talking about replacing his eyes and running his fingertips across Sam's...OMG! Nightmares tonight! And the boys, OMG...right before Dean left..."Sammy, be careful"..."You too." OH BOYS!!! Wow though, I guess Dean showed Bela! I'll probably get it on the rewatch, but I didn't catch (cuz Mom came in at that time and was engaging in small talk before I told her MY SHOW WAS ON!)...did she kill her folks just for the inheritance or was she being abused by them as well. I wondered cuz of that flashback with her as a kid sitting on the couch crying before her dad got home. I really wish they could've done more with her character, cuz she had a lot of potential and Lauren Cohan played her well. But...guess she's doggy chow now!
And that is the last I ever want to mention of doggy chow. The LAST. Y'all understand WHY, RIGHT?!?!?! *curls into ball and cries*

Hey Kitty - yeah, they showed Bela sitting in a room and a man waling in and shutting the door with a close up of the door latching - pretty much network tv code for sexual abuse.
I was shocked at the revelation about Bela's deal. Didn't see that coming at all.

Sarie, I was wondering the same thing...it does look like Jared got a little bit of a trim. Guess it has to happen sometime, LOL. But that's far enough, hairdressers, hear us?!
*hearts the Sammy mane* And I was also wondering about the eye thing too! I was ready to cover my own eyes b/c I thought FOR SURE his eye was about to start bleeding, even though I knew they couldn't cuz DANG THAT WAS HIS REAL EYE!!! OMG, Jared What-He-Won't-Do-For-His-Art Padalecki, your bravery astounds me!!!

I loved what they did with Bela. That worked out so well! I'll miss her.
My favorite Sam moment was the fight he had with Dean about the immortality thing. Poor, so desparate, Sammy.

Ooooookay...that's what I thought that meant. Crap. There I go again, feeling sympathy toward clear-cut villains...*sigh*
She was a despicable person...but knowing what led her to become that way does put the twinge of sympathy there.

I'm with all of you guys- the eye thing, just ewwww. EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
Jared broke my heart with the quiet desperation he gave Sam. Good God, this is our Sammy, the touchy-feely Sammy who watches out for the little guy every time. And he's advocating the murder of innocent people to harvest their organs so Dean can live.
That alone almost made me cry. How is he going to live once Dean is gone? He knows how it's going to be compliments of Mystery Spot and he knows he can't go there again. And this is the straw he's grasping at.
Oh, Sammy! Poor little scared-out-of-your-mind Sammy! I just want to hug you tight...

I loved his little smile when he knew Dean had fallen for the zombie story. I love how when watching him talking to Dean about the case before identifying the real bad guy, he's got that slightly off too-enthusiastic expression.

Met, I know, OMG...like I said, we know our Sammy, and for HIM, OUR moralistic, compassionate, life-valuing Sammy to be THAT desperate, to have THAT little hope left...it just says it all in the most painful of ways. It really does. I guess that when driven to desperation, even the best of people can consider the worst of things.
Is that a quote, a saying or old adage of any sort? Cuz if it isn't, I JUST MADE IT ONE!!! Cuz it's TRUE!!!

Sarie- You're right. Jared's gotten excellent at those slight, blink-and-miss fleeting emotions that just flutter across his face. But in those little seconds he speaks volumes!
even the best of people can consider the worst of things.
That is so true, Kitty! That is exactly where Sam is now. The road to Hell really is paved with good intentions, isn't it? Sam's trying to do something good, but, wow! That boy is seriously veering off the right path to do it.

I know, Met *sniffle* I know! *loves him and fears for him*
So, not that I even WANNA think about this, but while I'm thinking of it...does anyone know what the deal is with this apparent looming actors' strike. PLEASE...NO MORE STRIKES!!!!!!! *begs*

From what I can tell, they're gearing up to strike over the same issues as the writers- a bigger cut of DVD's and internet downloads. I hope they seriously reconsider another strike just as things are getting back to normal.
They're going to force me to become good friends with my bookcase again!

OMG! Seriously, TV cannot TAKE another strike so soon off the heels of the other one! Recovering plots are gonna be screwed to Hades, more shows are gonna be dead before they hit the airwaves and/or cancelled, and again, lifestyles interrupted, jobs lost...

Sarie: I love how when watching him talking to Dean about the case before identifying the real bad guy, he's got that slightly off too-enthusiastic expression.
That was nicely done. I was more than a little perplexed by Sam's apparent zombie-mania. Then I was really perplexed when he told Dean the truth about their ostensible zombie hunt and revealed the full extent of his desperation. It's heartbreaking, as is Dean's bravery and determination to hang on to his humanity.
That's why I have zero sympathy for Bela. Yes, something horrible happened to her, but she tried to murder two people in cold blood and would have succeeded if Dean hadn't been smarter and better than she was. I loved the inflatable "dates" in the beds; that was so Dean. And his phone call was nice payback for Bela's call in Jus in Bello.
Anyway, back to heartbreaking, the scene where the boys exchange "take care of yourself" was, well, you know, heartbreaking. You could see in both their faces that they were anticipating that final good-bye.
Well, no Bruce Campbell, but we did get Billy Drago. And it was great to see Steven Williams. I wouldn't mind a return visit from his character.
Hottest Sammy moment: Standing there with his arms crossed, exuding power and reciting the exorcism. Well I thought it was hot.
I'm so glad I wasn't spoiled. I hope I can remember that this coming week with all those spoilers out there just one click away.
