As you've probably heard by now, Paige Davis has returned as host to Trading Spaces. Friday was her triumphant return.
The challenge featured 2 exes redoing one another's bedroom. The ex-wife has since remarried, and I must say look wise, she traded up. No way would I allow McNighmare to have a say in my house with my new husband and you can bet your sweet bippy (like that Molly?) he wouldn't get near my new bedroom!!
The two designers were none other than Doug Wilson and Hildi Santos-Tomas. Faber was one of the carpenter and they had a new guy I didn't recognize.
Doug and his team did a fairly nice job of redoing the ex-husband's room. I didn't really like or hate Hildi's design. All those circles on the wall. Not my taste. But all in all the new husband and wife seemed pleased.
Paige was obviously happy to have her gig back and she is still bubbly, energetic and vivacious. It just seemed a little bit forced. I'm sure in enough time the show will start to jive and feel like old home, probably once they get back into a comfortable rhythm.
Mannie - same general area - town/county but not next door necessarily. Again this will be quick. Loved Dougs - hated Hildi's. O-rings on the wall? No thanks. Doug is too thin right now, he looks gaunt. Paige is cuter than ever.
I personally couldn't imagine living near my ex-husband. On purpose.
Me either!!! Love the "sweet bippy" Rev. No idea where my dad gets that from or what it means, but I love it!!!
I liked Doug's design to but not Hildi's (no surprise there). I thought Doug looked really thin also Cindy. I wish I had 1/2 the energy that Paige seems to have.
Cindy - I thought the same thing about Doug. Please eat a meal, why-don't-cha. I did like the baggette (is that right?) both designers incorporated in the rooms, but those rings on the wall... I really believe Hildi does stuff like that to cause controversy. I hope the wife had some extra paint in the garage.
I love Paige's hair. It fits her so well. I also appreciated her sensitivity in dealing with the ex-husband who appeared to still have some residue from the divorce.
"Sweet Bippy" was an old catch phrase from the 60s comedy program, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in. It used to be shown in reruns, along with Carol Brunett & Company, but that was years ago.
Here's a clip. I didn't watch all of it, but perhaps you'll hear "Sweet Bippy"
Didn't watch the show, but I wanted to hear your comments! And Big Sis, you beat me to it--"You bet your sweet Bippy" was indeed from Laugh in. I think it came up in the Laugh in episode of Mad About You as well.
How's your tooth doing? Mine, for some reason, hurts today. Must've aggravated it with all that chewing. Note to self: no more granola until the new crown comes in!
I'm glad TLC FINALLY realized what a mistake they made when they fired her. They were so stupid. I'll have to try to remember to watch this sometime. It's hard, because I don't even know what channel tlc is on.
Speaking of TLC, my sister found little people, big world this weekend and loves it. Before we moved, only I had cable, now everyone does. The first thing my dad found was cspan. ugh! I didn't miss that. He also turns on the guide for the dvr and leaves it there. He's weird.
I feel about the same Baby-girl. I am so irritable and cranky. I'm scheduled for the surgery in 2 weeks. I'll finish the antibotics this weekend but I'm pretty stocked up on pain meds.
That's for the link Leah. I like Little people, big world too.
I actually spent a lot of time watching TLC this weekend. Well, you all already know that I'm a What Not To Wear addict. And because of that, I also started watching Miss America Reality Check. (Yes really, and yes I realize it's reality and I don't do reality programming!) What can I say, Michael Urie was hilarious. I also like Jon and Kate Plus Eight sometimes. It makes me very glad I don't have any children, much less multiples!
I haven't really watched Trading Spaces since Paige left. I'm glad TLC is admitting that it was a mistake to change the show in the first place.
The show is so much better with a host. The designers and the homeowners have someone to talk to other than their designer and themselves.
It was just like old times. Doug still does not trust Paige with helping him. Hildi is still doing strange things to peoples houses and there is always the question of what Doug's design will actually end up looking like. I'm looking forward to future shows with Frank & Laurie.
I'm glad they brought back Davis, not so glad Bruinhildi and Doug the Bug back. I always thought it was unfair for them to fire Davis simply because she stripped her clothes off. I think more women should do it.
