The New York Giants weren't the only big winners on Sunday. Eli Manning & Co's upset victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Divisional playoffs pulled in just over 40 million viewers for Fox on Jan. 13. That makes it the most-watched TV show since last February's Oscars and the biggest NFL Divisional playoff audience for any network since 1997. The game peaked with an astronomical 47.8 million viewers at 7:30 pm/ET, as the Cowboys were furiously trying to make a comeback.
CBS' Saturday-night AFC Divisional playoff game between the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars scored 30.9 million, while Fox's Saturday NFC game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks was seen by 28.2 million on Saturday afternoon.
At press time we are still waiting for numbers on the San Diego Chargers' upset of the Indianapolis Colts (Sunday on CBS).
If this Sunday's AFC and NFC championship games are as competitive, they should grab enormous numbers.
