Without a Trace Pregnancy a Mystery In and Of Itself

It's official: Poppy Montgomery's pregnancy will be written into the upcoming season of Without a Trace. Montgomery announced in June that she and boyfriend Adam Kaufman were expecting their first child in December. On a visit to a Trace location shoot in New York City earlier this week, TV Guide confirmed that Montgomery's character, FBI agent Sam Spade, will also be expecting. But who is Sam's babydaddy? Sam has had affairs with both boss Jack Malone and fellow agent Martin Fitzgerald, but could the father be someone else?

Montgomery knows the answer, but won't give it away. "I have to bite my tongue because I'm busting to tell everybody," she says. "There are a number of people in the mix. I think it'll be quite surprising."

Montgomery does reveal that Sam struggles with her choice of profession because she's carrying a child. "Every time she goes to work, she's potentially at risk for being killed. It's a hard decision to make." — Reporting by Charles Curtis

I think it is a bad idea....Last year we had to deal with Jack and Anne and the pregnancy...It took away from the show. We don't need another soap opera again this season. The show is best when they are searching for the missing and Jack interogating people.

I like the idea. On Numbers last season the girl was pregnant and they hid it for so long it got to be very distracting to the show.

Wasn't her affair with Jack like two seasons ago?

Maybe this means she'll dress better. She's been looking like crap the last couple of seasons. If I wanted to watch unattractively dressed and coiffed women for an hour, I'd go to the local water park.

She did wake up next to a nameless male in one episode last season.

I'm really looking forward to next season. I think the show is just the right mix of personal stuff and straight-foward procedural. I like Poppy Montgomery and her character Sam. They revealed some interesting things about her character last year. I also heard James Marsters will be on for a multi-story arc. I can't wait.

I hate to say it, but unless Sam has been out with more than one stranger, or has been out with Martin (please, please, please!), the father is probably the dude in bed. But I am still hoping for Martin, even though he has gotten a little bit uglier with the hair. Light colors are your style, dude! It can't be Jack's, since he already got a different girl pregnant, an accident of course, and making it baby Malone would be a fault on the writters honestly, who have been doing a good job recently. The past season rocked guys! Please be Martin's, I don't want to be right, which I usually am, not to sound stuck up. Two couples on the show... very romantic...outside of work!

Why would Sam be so careless. If the father is 'Brian' (the one-night stand), she didn't even remember his name and how stupid not to use protection. For all she knows, he could have an STD. I don't want it to be anyone at work, although I'm a Jack/Sam fan and hope they someday get back together. I just wish they hadn't written the pregnancy into the show.

Why not just bring Adam Kauffman (he's so gorgeous) into the show as the baby's father? I haven't seen him on television much lately, but I enjoyed him as Parker Abrams on Buffy and in Vanished.

I know I am probably in the minority, but I would love for the father to be Jack!

Sam's affair with Jack was over before the show even began.
I really hope it's Martin and not no name man in the bed. I was actually hoping that they didn't put her pregnancy in the show. I alway feel that it takes away from the character and the story. You know eventually the kid will end up in the basement with Avery from Murphy Brown.

It's just got to be Martin's baby. It can't be Jack's, since they haven't been serious in how long? And just because we saw Sam and the unknown in bed together does not officially mean that it's his. In fact, that's probably what the writers want us to think. How could they?
