Rosie in Talks to Talk for MSNBC

Rosie O'Donnell may be getting a new platform to spout her views. Cable news channel MSNBC is reportedly in talks with the comedienne/View alumna about a nightly prime-time show that would pit her against CNN's Larry King Live and the Fox News team of Hannity & Colmes. An NBC News executive confirms that discussions have taken place but on Tuesday morning said that the two sides "are not close as of this moment."

O'Donnell has not had much of a presence on television since her stormy departure from ABC's The View in May. Once she became available, NBC programming chief Ben Silverman expressed an interest in her, offering her a role at the network as the host of a game show or a talk program.

Larry versus Rosie might be entertaining.

I wouldn't watch her. I used to like her talk show. She was funny. She deserves the right to an opinion but she is SO opinionated and so obnoxious about it. And she's not funny anymore.

I might watch it. Unlike others, I haven't developed rabid hate for her.

I think she's genuinely a decent person, and I do agree with many of her views, i.e., like about Iraq.

Dalmatian, I agree with you. I used to like her, when she was doing standup, and the her talkshow, until she got into an argument about Guns with Charlton Heston and Tom Selleck, confronting them about Gun Control, when they were there promoting movies.
She seems to go downhill after that.
Ever since she got 'obnoxiously political', i stopped watching her.
I hope Ellen doesn't go that path, i still like her.

just my opinion,

BTW...going against Hannity and Colmes isn't going to help PMSNBC, anyway.

I don't know, I think it might be interesting. The only difference in Rosey and H&C is that Ro would be on the democratic side whereas H&C and Fox News are on the republican side.

I wouldn't watch it for all the tea in China. Rosie is a fine entertainer with a fun wit and personality when she's having fun -- her visit on Martha Stewart for Halloween was amusing -- and I loved her talk show before she begun to ambush actors/actresses who held a different political/religious/world view than her own.

As a political pundit? After reading her blog now and again over several months with her vemonous views etc against anything that remotely sniffs of conservatism and her apparent inability to understand that a person's disagreement with her views is not a personal hate crime against her makes her a poor candidate. She also falls back on the 'cloak your intolerance of anyone that disagrees with you with nice politically correct drivel' passive aggressive defense tactics. Any high school student in a 'debate club' knows how unsportsmanlike those tactics are.

Her general lack of background in political science and utterly no news background would make such a show a disaster. I am not an American but even I understand the US political process better than she does. I personally don't watch Nancy Grace, Ann Colder (sp?) Bill O'Reilly or other such drivel either -- All those shows are biased toward one extreme and I find them repugnant. Most of their hosts hold more education and background in their fields than Rosie does -- and they still are over the top -- I can't imagine how horrifying such a show would be with someone who has less 'so called' knowledge than the 'experts' that already fill cable news.

I am too intelligent to listen to her rantings/views!
Her views belong in a pig sty!

I'd definately watch it. Everyone gets their nose out of joint because she has an opinion, like that's a detriment. People can stand on their soapbox and nobody says anything (look at Bill O'Reilly) but she's not chipper and everyone's got to rag on her? Please. I love that she has an opinion and I don't always agree with it, but hey, that's why we live in the great old USA.

I don't mind that Rosie has opinions, but she sure seems to mind if you have one that's different from hers. She doesn't seem able to have a mutually respectful discussion with anyone who disagrees with her. She once was fun and enjoyable to watch, but no more. I don't have a "rabid hate" for her, but my time is better spent on someone who will respect other's thoughts and opinions as well her own.

Wonderful news....that's what we all need...Rosie can now spew all her hatred for men and the USA and finally she will cause her own head to explode...Can't wait...
