Paul Blackthorne Takes on Big Shots

Paul Blackthorne may not be a household name... yet. But the British actor, who recently starred as Harry Dresden on the now-defunct Sci Fi Channel fantasy series The Dresden Files, has guest-starred on Medium, Deadwood and Monk. He’s also racked up recurring roles on 24 and ER.

Next up? The chameleon actor will play a Wall Street CEO and costar with Michael Vartan, Christopher Titus, Joshua Malina and Dylan McDermott on the new ABC drama Big Shots. “He’s what’s described as a corporate raider,” Blackthorne tells TVGuide.com. “He’s somebody that buys up companies, sells companies, just an all-around outrageous moneymaker.”

Blackthorne’s story arc kicks off on Oct. 4 for nine episodes. “He’s someone that these other guys are slightly wary of in a business sense,” reveals the actor. “It also seems our man is circling around Dylan’s ex-wife, the one he still has the hots for.”

Just don’t pin your hopes on Blackthorne sticking around for long. “I think when you’re handed these kinds of opportunities, you’ve just got to make the most of them,” he says. “I’ve enjoyed the American characters and the English characters and the goodies and the baddies. It’s nice to mix and match parts. It keeps me on my toes!” — Reporting by Dana Meltzer Zepeda

I am so glad that Paul has a new gig. I hope that he gets his own show again. I truly will miss The Dresden Files. Lets pray that he gets his own show. I see him in maybe a detective/cop like series. Anything is possible.

Paul Blackthorne is an extraordinary actor! He is one of those few who can share his emotion & personality right through the television screen & make you believe his character & everything he says AS that character! He’s BRILLIANT!

While we're enormously happy that he has a new spot, we really want him back as Harry Dresden in a 2nd season of the Dresden Files!!

We fans have been actively campaigning for a 2nd season since the end of Season 1 in mid-April - sending untold numbers of letters and postcards to SciFi Channel NBC/Universal and Lionsgate, contacting the media, etc.

Despite these efforts, on August 3, 2007 Sci-Fi Channel stated on SCi Fi Wire that the show will not be returning for Season 2. We fans are heartbroken for the possible loss of our favorite wizard!! We do NOT want to lose this intelligent, wonderfully well-acted, well-written, & well-produced show – especially without any reasons being given!!

We’ve set up a NEW HOME 4 DRESDEN PETITION http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/new-home-4-dresden.html which in just 4 days & no promotion has over 478 signatures & comments asking for either a RENEWAL at Sci-Fi Channel OR A NEW HOME at a different channel/network for the Dresden Files!

We have also launched a new initiative aimed at the corporate balance sheets of series producer Lionsgate: the “WIN HARRY” RAFFLE running from 8/8/07 through 9/8/07! Tickets are being offered for just a $1.00 (US) donation each, to help support the campaign & for a chance at winning the complete Season One 3-DVD set of The Dresden Files. For more information & to enter the Raffle, go to: http://dresdencity.org/Renewal/Donations/Donations.html

We’re asking all Dresden Files fans – book or TV version - and everyone who would like the networks to listen to their customers, to sign the petition & enter the Raffle. HELP US SAVE HARRY & BOB!! http://dresdencity.org

EDITED: As of 12:23 AM ET US 9/3/07, there are 2,594 signatures on the petition!! We're still rated 4th on the Most Active Petitions list!!!

Paul will be GREAT in this role! Hopefully we will see more of him on this show once the writers/public sees how much he kicks butt as an actor. Sci-Fi failed to take advantage of Paul when they had the chance. I will definitely miss him as Harry Dresden since he WAS Harry to me but Sci-Fi's loss is ABC's gain since I will definitely keep an eye out for him in Big Shots.

Nine episodes are not enough. I want to see Paul weekly and as the main character.

Paul Blackthorne is a fantastic actor whether he's playing the good guy or the bad, not to mention drop dead gorgeous...he should be in ALL of the episodes!

Sure would like TDF to pull a Buffy and hop networks, if SFC will not change course, and continue with a full season.

TDF had 12 eps. This new show,BS, will have 9. Need 22 eps for full PB satisfaction.

The good actors are too few.
