NBC Cancels Paris Interview

NBC News has decided not to pursue a post-prison interview with Paris Hilton. "It's not happening," an NBC News insider said. "We pulled out."

The news division had been in discussions with the Hilton family about having the jailed heiress talk with Today coanchor Meredith Vieira next week. The plans appeared to be on track until Friday afternoon, but insiders said the network had become frustrated with the family's demands.

NBC News execs may have also been put off by the negative publicity surrounding reports that it was paying for the Hilton interview. At no time did NBC News offer money for the sitdown, sources said. But discussions Hilton reps had with the network's entertainment division about a separate project created the appearance that the news interview was part of the deal. — Reporting by Stephen Battaglio

UPDATE: Larry King has since emerged as the one to get Paris Hilton's first out-of-jail sitdown; see Today's News for more.

In other kinda, sorta Paris-related news, this former soap star just faced the same tough judge who presided over Paris' DUI case.

What is it with all the celebrity DUI drama lately? If anyone needs a taxi tonight, I have the number for Checker Cab programmed into my celly. Just don't booze and cruise, OK? It's not worth it.

Good for NBC. Their credibility would have been in the toilet if they had paid Paris Hilton any money--even under the guise of it beng from the "entertainment division." Especially after they showed that footage of the VT killer and smugly told America that the decision to air it was hard but that they'd had some sort of duty to show that crap to all of America.

Geez, with NBC antics like those, Katie Couric is starting to look more and more like a serious journalist every day!

NBC "pulled out." Just like the guy in her little home movie. She should be used to it.

Sorry, it was an easy one and I had to do it. "That's what she said."

When is she gonna put out her "A Night With Paris II"? Maybe she could do it with a donkey.

Hopefully this will make Paris realize that she isn't as "hot" as she thinks she is.

All of the major networks declined to host her first post-pokey interview, thus reducing her to Larry King. This should send her a message. Then again, she is as stupid as a coked-up rat so she will doubtfully understand it.
