Hugh Laurie on His Accent

The recent influx of British actors onto American TV series may be creating a booming business for dialect coaches in Hollywood. But Hugh Laurie, star of Fox's House, told the Television Critics Association press tour that he no longer depends on one. The rigorous schedule of U.S. TV production makes it counterproductive. "I tried it and didn't find it awfully helpful," he said. "There simply is no time to reflect how you would say encephalopathy as an American." — Reporting by Stephen Battaglio
