Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer won't be playing
House anytime soon. The stars of Fox's hit medical drama have decided to end their eight-month engagement, their publicist Danica Smith confirms.

As recently as last month, the couple appeared happy together, with Morrison even flashing her engagement ring for paparazzi at a party during the Television Critics Tour.

Despite their personal split, the two will continue to work side by side on House, which returns Sept. 25. Morrison also stars in Lifetime's The Murder of Princess Diana , premiering Aug. 25. — Reporting by N.F. Mendoza

I think we should wait a week and find out if they're pulling an Usher.

This does not shock, considering I seriously doubt both parties are straight.

I didn't even know they were together. Then, again, I'm not the biggest House fan. I only watch it when there's nothing on.

When they put your characters in a relationship, that's an automatic end to the relationship.

Ranger, don't worry about it. When actors are making the transition from obscurity to stardom, one of the Rites of Passage is that you're rumored to be gay, whether you're gay or not.

I want to call this The Ellen Paradox -- the more famous you get, the more you have to declare your actual sexual preference in no uncertain terms (ex: TR Knight and Neil Patrick Harris on the one hand, Tom Cruise and Marcia Cross on the other). And even then, the homophobes will marginalize you if your'e gay and if you're straight, a contingent of homophobic cranks (and some heterophobic cranks) won't believe you anyway because in their opinions "you're trying to hard to prove that you're straight." (Tom Cruise, who does himself no favors by being so geekishly oblivous to how hamhanded his approach to the press is.)

I'm crushed by this news. I adored the couple and usually I'm certainly no advocate of celeb couples, as I general rule I dislike them - particular co-starring couples.

But these two had such sweet chemistry and seemed so perfectly matched. And I loved the fact they kept their relationship refreshingly private and lowkey (though most avid House fans were well aware of the hook-up.

The recent publicity during the last few months perhaps changed the dynamic. It's the Curse of Instyle Weddings I tell you!
