Gloria Reuben Checks Back In to the ER

Jeannie Boulet is back! A call has gone out to former ER cast members to return to County General in what could be the venerable medical show's last season.

Noah Wyle, who plays the rich kid, doc John Carter, is signed up for at least four episodes, and now TVGuide.com has learned Gloria Reuben, who played the HIV-positive physician's assistant, Boulet, has also signed on.

Reuben, who left in 1999 when she found her storyline too depressing and one-note, returns to the ER on Jan. 10, when her character needs treatment for her HIV-infected son. She initially clashes with the staff over her child's care, but eventually allows Dr. Greg Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) to help her through the difficult time. We'll make our own plea: George Clooney, we need you! —Reporting by Ileane Rudolph

Yeah! this is great to hear i thought she was a great asset the show. I will tune in for her episode/episodes.

They could have done so much with her character but instead they didn't. I didn't blame her for leaving it was getting depressing but so glad to here she's coming back.

I always thought she was extremely dull, and consequently so was her character. Her best episode was her last imo. Oh well.

As far as I can see, there is not one cast member still on the show who was there when Gloria left.

Maura Tierney first appeared about two weeks after she left. Goran Visnjic was on the cast when she left, so maybe he'll be back when she appears (maybe Noah Wyle, since both are scheduled for brief returns). Otherwise, she will be like a stranger when she visits the ER.

Jeannie was the first ER character that I was hooked on. Can't WAIT for her to return. I hope she has Reggie in tow as well.

I am so glad she is back!!! Her character was boring because she became HIV positive and the shows writers made her that way did we not read the post about her return...

Glad to hear Jeannie will be back! Always nice to see a friendly face. While none of the former regulars are still at County, several peripheral characters still are. Anspaugh will certainly remember her (IMO her storyline with his son Scott was her best), as will Chuni. I can't remember what other characters are still around (Haleh? Lily? Timmy?). I hope there's some sort of continuity either with the people that would know her, or the fact that no one is still there.

It sounds like they want to keep all the former cast memebers
separate....it's forced. And I don't like it.If they want to bring back them, then they should be looking at ones who actually had some kind of tie to the people who are still on screen. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of strangers. What's the tie between Jeannie and Greg?

And some Clooney wouldn't be bad for ratings which suck right now and really need a miracle, but Noah (the rich guy? com'on, he was more than this: let's watch the previous 11 seasons) is plenty for me.
And bring back Benton!

Yes Gloria Reuben's PA was TERRIBLY underused. Just gotta say though - It's physician assistant, not physician's assistant

1) It'll be great to have Gloria and Noah back!
2) I'd really like to see the return of Dr. Corday.
3) By the same token, I think a great storyline would be to bring back Dr. Greenes daughter Rachel(using the same actress) as a med student.
4) DO NOT TAKE THIS WONDERFUL SERIES OFF THE AIR! Television is already devoid of this type of emotionally gripping drama with real characters that we can grow to love. Ending ER would be a good reason to sell my television. IT'S TOO DAMN GOOD TO LOSE!!!!!!!

Clooney is way too good for this show. He doesn't need to debase himself in order to boost its sagging ratings. It should have been cancelled years ago. The last thing Clooney needs is to go slumming in order to prolong its misery.

I agree that her character was a bit boring, but her leaving the show because the character was HIV-positive does a disservice to those with the disease. There could have been good story lines developed about a staff member going good work at the hospital despite the disease.

George is just cool enough to do it. He appears to be one of the the nicest guys around. Practical joker that he is, he might show up unannounced.
