Glenn Close Gets Into Character on Damages

Though Glenn Close rarely cracks a grin in her new FX series Damages, she was all smiles at the show’s premiere in Times Square last night. In the legal drama, Close plays a no-nonsense attorney who is embroiled in a class-action civil suit. (Ted Danson plays opposing counsel.)

“It’s rare to have a woman, a mature woman, in a position of real power where she’s calling the shots and she’s in with the big guys,” Close told TV Guide on the red carpet. “It’s fun.”

But it’s also a lot of work. To prepare for the role, Close met with iconic female lawyers like Mary Jo White, who’s prosecuted Osama Bin Laden twice. Though Close has played her share of strong women, even that experience can’t help her predict the fate of this character. “I don’t know what to expect,” she says. “Expect anything, trust nothing.” — Reporting by Erin S. Medley

I'm surprised I haven't heard much buzz about this show. I think Glenn Close is an amazing actress and usually choses her roles wisely. I only heard about this show the other day and now I'm anxiously awaiting the premiere.
