Here's an exclusive first look at one of two covers of the Heroes graphic novel from Wildstorm, an imprint of DC Comics. The book compiles the first 34 chapters, which have been posted on NBC.com since the series debuted last fall. The book also includes an introduction by Emmy nominee Masi Oka and artwork by Tim Sale, who provides the comic art of the show's precognitive painter Isaac.

This cover was painted by comic-book superstar Alex Ross. (The second cover is being created by another comics icon, Jim Lee.) The 240-page hardcover collection goes on sale Oct. 28.

Update: DC has just announced that the on-sale date for the book has been moved to Nov. 7.

YES YES YES YES YES!!! I'm a big Heroes fan and so is my father. He was 16-19 when Jim Kirk first warped onto TV screens, and he was my agd. I get him hooked into anything sci-fi now. (I'm 19). For years we have been massive Stargate fans, and casual enough Smallville fans that I think we've seen every episode.

He had my feeling about Heroes when it was starting (X-Men knockoff) but the day the pilot aired I had to go out of town (about 6 hour drive) with a friend to attend a funeral. Bored our first evening in, I turned on the TV in time for the pilot. Man I loved it! From promos, I even thought I wouldn't be able to stand the little Japanese guy! HA!!! Within 30 seconds Hiro Nakumura had won me over! When I got home I downloaded the pilot and sat Dad in front of the computer saying "Watch!" 4 days later it was Monday again and we were plopped in front of the show.

Anyway, I've read some of these graphic novels on the web, but not most of them, and was debating if I should take the time to walk my dad through them. Now it's easy for both of us!
