I've read every one of the southern vampire books, I was really looking forward to the series showing up on tv. Now I'm just annoyed, in no way does Anna Paquin fit the role of Sookie Stackhouse. I'm not even sure if I'm going to give it a try any more.

So is this where the term 'Sookie' came from when (as I understand it) you're fast-forwarding through a portion of a show? I hear it a lot but I came on board at TVGuide.com after people started using it.

I thought it was "Suki" as in Lorelai's friend from Gilmore Girls?

When you Sookie something...it refers to Loralei's friend from Gilmore Girls. Not this new show... A lot of people don't like Sookie, so when she's on they just fast forward through it.
As for Anna Paquin, I hadn't really thought of her as Sookie, probably because I thought she'd stick with movies...but I'm so excited! And I read somewhere that she's agreed to go blonde for the part. Does anyone know when it's suppose to start filming? I heard April, but if anyone knows more, let me know.

I've found nothing on the production start date, but here's more casting, again from the Hollywood Reporter:
• Ryan Kwanten (Summerland, Flicka) will play Sookie's brother.
• Sam Trammell will play the owner of the restaurant where Sookie works.

I believe the term "Sookie" originated on the TVGuideTalk Podcast. I do a wrapup of each episode the Podcast in my blog and include what got Sookied that week.
And yes, it started because Dan Manu (host of the Podcast) was always fast-forwarding through the Gilmore Girls whenever Sookie was on.

I am really excited about Anna P. playing Sookie. I too have read all the books and really had no idea who I thought should play the role. I have been very anxiously waiting to see who they would cast as I just LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE the books. I think Anna will be great (expecially if she goes blond for the role!). She is a FANTASTIC actress and I think the show will be great as long as they can get good writing for it.
I am totally looking forward to the show in the fall - actually more than anything on the networks!
