The New X Files Movie: Got Burning Questions?
The X-Files Movie by Diyah Pera/20th Century Fox
As reported earlier this month by TVGuide.com, The X Files will be featured at the Paley Television Festival on March 26. The night will offer a retrospective of the nine-season series and will also show the highly anticipated movie trailer. While the new X Files flick isn't being released until July 25, there's a ton of buzz about the return of two of TV's most beloved characters, Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson), to the silver screen. Though the plot is under tight wraps, we do know that the still-untitled second movie looks like a scary supernatural (non-alien) thriller. Joining Duchovny and Anderson will be Amanda Peet and rapper-turned-actor Xzibit as FBI agents who are also investigating the case.
So are you a former or current X-Phile? Do you have all nine seasons on DVD or do you catch the reruns on Sci Fi or TNT whenever you can? Do you have burning questions about the show itself or about the upcoming movie? If so, you may be in luck, because TVGuide.com is teaming up with XFilesNews.com to attend the Paley Festival in L.A. and talk to the men behind the movie, Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz. Post your questions in the comments section below, and you might see it answered by Frank or Chris! — Erin Fox

The X-Files ended with Scully giving up her and Mulders child to another couple to raise, and having Mulder and Scully in a hotel room on the run. How do you plan on reconciling that ending with a new movie where they are back at work at the FBI working on the X-Files?

why no John Doggett or Monica Reyes?

Yes, I would really see how Mulder and Scully being FBI agents again is explained in the movie, since the TV show ended with them as fugitives on the run (Mulder pronounced guilty of murder) and with the FBI being taken over by pod people or super-soldiers or some other nonsense.
I hated, hated, hated seeing Mulder and Scully cowering in a cheap hotel room as the last image we had of those characters.

Who says that they are with the FBI again? No one knows because of the stranglehold on the script, which is fine with me. Did anyone really like Agents Doggett or Reyes? I prefer Robert Patrick on The Unit and I wasn't a big fan of Annabeth Gish. I'm more curious who Chris Carter is going to deal with the Millenium movie.

How are you going to deal with not having any mythology in this film? The world is getting invaded in 2012 for God's sake. Are you just gonna forget that storyline that fans have followed for 9 years? Don't end it with a couple of comments that the aliens changed their mind or they got the date wrong.

Many of the peripheral characters who provided flavor to the show had been killed off: namely, our favorite geeks The Lone Gunmen, and our favorite baddies, Cancer Man (so deliciously evil) and Alex Krycek (so evil and, well, delicious) - do you regret not having those characters for the film as familiar faces for long-time X-Philes? (The cast looks great, don't get me wrong, but I miss those characters.)
Question complete, I'll be in the audience regardless of the answer; I like Amanda Peet in most roles and I've seen Xzibit in one or two things and enjoyed him, so I'm curious as to how this all plays out and whether the show will still have 'legs'.
I have the seasons on DVD, and am a complete and rabid X-Phile, so I'm predicting I'll enjoy it. I miss Chris Carter's writing on my TV!

I bought the complete series set around christmas. I had never seen an entire episode before. I'm only to the middle of season 3, but I love the show. I'm hoping to get through all 9 seasons and the other movie before this one is released.
I don't have any questions right now, though.

My question is are Mulder and Scully the heart and soul of the movie or are they treated in the last season as an afterthought?
My hope is tht the powers that be figured out that didn't work out well. I am a long time X Files fan and I love a good story but to me the characters of Mulder and Scully are the X Files.

I LOVED Annabeth Gish as Monica Reyes, so I'm sorry she won't (apparently) be in the film. Reyes was such a devoted friend to Scully in the final season, and had a few memorable experiences of her own. Too bad most fans didn't enjoy that season as much as I did.

Please ask:
- about Doggett and Reyes - about any plans for more XF movies (a franchise perhaps?) - how they're going to be addressing the new tone of Mulder and Scully's relationship without alienating ppl (since people are so split on the whole romance issue) - whether this movie is set after the events of the final season, or sometime during the run of the show - I'd love to hear from Gillian on whether she would ever consider doing a TV show again, and if so, whether there is anything currently on that she would like to be on

Robert Patrick is a wonderful actor and created a very interesting Dogett character, will he be a part of the movie.
Will we see William at all??
What about Skinner....does Mulder and Scully catch up with that beautiful, bald- headed man???

Two questions. At the end of the series Scully wasn't a sceptic anymore. Is she going to be one as far as this storyline goes?
Also, is Alex Krychek going to pop in?
