X-Files 2 Update, Meryl as Julia Child, More Movie News

The second X-Files movie is really, truly happening. 20th Century Fox has even blocked off July 25, 2008, as the flick's release date. Natch, plot deets are being kept hush-hush, but the pic is said to be a stand-alone thriller (Yay! No mythology!) that will further Mulder and Scully's relationship. I've got goosebumps already.... In other movie news, Meryl Streep has signed on to play Julia Child in Julie and Julia, a Nora Ephron comedy in which a disgruntled temp (Amy Adams) spends a year trying to whip up every recipe in the master's cookbook.... Teeth, the indie buzz-builder about a high school student with a toothed vagina, has had its release moved to February 2008. — Ben Katner

What kind of a thriller? The one with aliens or without? Anyway, I'm "thrilled." And my bday is july 26, so I guess they decided to wait 5 years so as to give me a good birthday present. Yay me!

Yeah, love the idea of another peek at X Files! But what's with this promo pic -- looks like Mulder's trying to grab Sculley's chest. A little Californication in the corn field maybe? A coincidental oversight? Or maybe someone's planting hints about that long-stalled love interest? Remember, TRUST NO ONE!

Yes, I have proof! For years my freinds and I have donned fake badges and black suits or alien costumes and gone as various characters from the X-Files (I'm the ringer - a Gillian Anderson look-alike stopped for autographs during the X-Files hey dey and won a national contest a few years ago) but we had put it on hold for a few years waiting for the movie to come out. When this would come up in conversation with co-workers, etc., no one believed me when I told them about the 2nd movie!

The truth is out there.
