X-Files 2: The Script Is Out There

David Duchovny, in the course of talking up his new Showtime series Californication, also wound up discussing infestation, mutation and alien invasion — that is, the status of the always-looming second X-Files movie. "I'm supposed to see a script next week," the erstwhile Agent Mulder revealed at the TCA summer press tour. "[X-Files creator] Chris [Carter] will direct it. Gillian [Anderson] is on board, and that's all I can tell you."

The original film follow-up hit theaters some nine years ago. What say we kill two birds with one stone, merge two TV franchises, and call the movie "X and the City"?

As a long-time X-Phile I'll probably go see it, even though they killed off Krycek and the Lone Gunmen, not to mention CSM. However, I'm perfectly willing to pretend the deaths never occurred if the actors will all come back...

I'm so excited for a new X-Files film! I'm sure it will be great, although it won't be the same without Krycek or Cigarette Smoking Man.

As much as I loved The X-Files I also wonder if it might be better to let sleeping dogs lie. That said, I'd too would be willing to forget that my beloved Lone Gunmen bought the farm. And I actually did forget that the CSM died. Can someone remind me how they got rid of him?

I'd love another movie.. Please bring Walter Skinner back.. The FBI won't be the same without him. And Alex is an easy return--Skinner shot a clone in the parking garage. Yeah CSM died in the pueblo in the southwest, but hey there was someone pulling his strings. There is always another bad guy.

I wonder where the movie will pick up? I loved x-files, but stopped watching it around the time Mulder left, and feel like most people did as well.

Since the show's final seasons are now legendary as a cautionary tale for not going out on top, I absolutely look forward to the new movie as a way to correct the show's legacy. Beyond that, Duchnovy and Anderson are one of the greatest pairings in entertainment history. It'll be great to see their chemistry sizzle and pop once again.

Who says that the movie has to take place after the end of the series? I remember reading a while back that it would be a stand-alone episode set during the "middle" of the series. But no matter when it is set, I anxiously await the return of Mulder and Scully!

I'm excited, I've been watching it from the beginning on DVD for the last few months, since I stopped watching sometime after the first movie during the show's original run. Good to see it's not dead.

X Files was one of my favorite shows. I love the acting by both the stars. I hope they do come out with a new movie. I know a lot of people that would go see it...
