WWE SmackDown Returns Amid Much Wrestling Mania

Pull out the spandex and get ready to get on your WWE SmackDown. The show will be returning to the ring on Friday, Oct. 3. As previously reported, SmackDown is moving homes from the CW (formerly UPN), where it was known as Friday Night SmackDown!

Not only does SmackDown have a new home, but MyNetworkTV will give it a special kick-off with a big extravaganza: For the first time ever, the annual WrestleMania will be televised, on Oct. 2. — Anna Dimond

How much stock does Vince McMahon own in MyTv? Isn't Wrestlemania usually in late April? Why would they show it, in October? There has to be some extra financial incentive for Vince to jump to a so-so network.

CW, would not renew the contract since they wanted to be a feamle network even though this year while all of the other CW show ratings are down WWW held its own and most weeks is their #1 show.

In CW's defence it does not drive viewers to the other shows on their network(odd!) But, USA made the same claim when they lost wrestling the 1st time to Spike.

My Net. whatever they are paying for a 52 week live TV event (is worth every penny). If Vince wants to turn another night into the crappy Wrestling spin-offs that he forced on Spike.

This is the 1st time that I have seen anything that My Net. has done to get a show viewers want to see....Other than the Flavor Flav show that they got and barely advertised.

My Net. had to do something because even though they have a wide distribution of networks they are almost exclusively on HDNets that alot of people don't know exist or look for it.

Move Flavor Flav's show to Mon to lead an comedy night. Spend the bucks on Moonlight/Jericho throw it on Wed.(cut the budgets, produce 18 instead of 22, do what it takes cause Sci-Fi fans are very loyal, look at Sliders move to Sci-Fi a network nobody wached or StarGate to Sci-Fi). WWW on Fri. Crapy Cheap Reality on the other nights to help keep the budget in line and you have UPN 2.0 which would be more successfull than anything My net has done since its birth

I'm sure they mean they will be showing this past Wrestlemania. They only show the Wrestlemanias on either PPV or DVD. They never air them on networks or cable no matter how old they are.

What I found funny is how the CW wants to be all a female version when the shows that theoretically would be appealing for men (WWE, Smallville Supernatural, excluding for a moment ANTM) are/were the ones giving the CW profits.

But what i do I know...obviosuly young rich people with problems are what people really really wants to see nowadays. The CW president is a genius!!!:_|

The bad thing about this move is that i don't get my network tv. Smackdown has really been horrible lately anyways but none of the satellite companies carry my network tv . My local cable company time warner doesn't carry it either. We at least get the cw seems to me just moving to my net will kill ratings in a way vicky gurrero hasn't

I hear ya. I prefer watching Smackdown to RAW right now because Jeff hardy is there, and the Undertaker. my Friday nights are gonna be DEAD now. I don't get mynetwork. if they were gonna move Smackdown to another network, why not at least try and go for one with better districution?
