In the Works: Invasion Star Caught in Conspiracy

Lisa Sheridan has landed the lead in the Lifetime drama pilot Conspiracy, says the Hollywood Reporter. The Invasion alumna will star as a D.C. lawyer targeted by a (yep) conspiracy after she discovers that the Big Pharma case she won was rigged.... Per Variety, Cedric the Entertainer has signed a talent holding deal with ABC, as part of which he will star, write and exec-produce a comedy about the single father of a teenage girl.... Fox has a pilot deal for The Institution, a single-camera comedy focused on three couples weathering the highs and lows of matrimony, while CBS is developing The Swim Team, about a thirtysomething bachelor whose college-days sperm-bank donation comes back to haunt him in the form of a knock at the door.

Thanks Matt - you just replaced the Love Boat theme song with Three's Company in my head ;)

Uh, Rev. Jackson would appreciate it if you didn't say "The N."

I have liked Lisa Sheridan ever since the UPN show Legacy (a really underrated show), but news of this new Lifetime pilot made me groan.

Doesn't this just have derivative basic cable ripoff of more popular major network shows written all over it?

I think one of the official signs that a genre has exhausted itself is when the Lifetime network decides to do an estrogenized version of it.

So, enough already. Let's give the serialized conspiracy thrillers a rest for a while.
