Witch Project Will HSM's Ashley Choose Next?

Ashley Tisdale is thisclose to signing a year-long development deal with American Idol producer FremantleMedia North America. If signed, says Variety, Fremantle will seek to develop projects revolving around the High School Musical starlet.

Tisdale is also in talks to headline a remake of Teen Witch, playing an unpopular girl who discovers that she's a descendant of witches and thus boasts way-cool powers. Robyn Lively starred in the 1989 original film. — MWM

I loved the original Teen Witch. It's always randomly on and its so amazingly campy. But I'm sick of hearing about these 80's movie remakes! Where is Zak Ephron's Footloose? How bout Raven Symone's Adventures in Babysitting? Don't tease me like this Mitovich

Whenever I see someone named Lively, Robyn pops into my head. I tell myself it's stupid so often, it's nice to know when my gut is right.

Regardless, Teen Witch is a completely random movie to remake. I didn't even know it was popular. I just watched it because of Dan Gauthier, but as he got older, hotter and more ubiquitous, I developed less tolerance for its cheesiness.
