Mischa Barton in the wee hours of Thursday morning was pulled over in West Hollywood after she was spied "straddling two lanes of traffic and fail[ing] to signal when making a turn." The O.C. alumna/current Maxim cover gal subsequently was arrested for being an unlicensed driver and "driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage," TMZ reports. No details have surfaced as to a previously reported charge of possession of illegal narcotics, though the investigation into Barton's arrest is classified as "ongoing."
Barton reportedly is still in custody and being held on $10,000 bail. As we speak, Ryan is taking up a collection outside the Bait Shop.

What's your take? Was it simply Mischa's turn? Or is this perhaps part of an orchestrated PR plan — coupled with her racy lad-mag pics and recent quote that she's game for big-screen nudity — to fashion a "bad girl" image?

Mischa had it coming -- we have all seen the paparazzi pictures. With friends like Paris, Nicole, Lindsay, etc., I figured something like this would happen sooner or later.
Hopefully, this is a wake-up call for her and she will get her life back on track.

It's all part of her master plan. People had stopped talking about her and she was not getting any more TV or movie plots. She is now back in the spotlight like her friends Paris, Britney, and Lyndsey!

What is it with these people? Are they really trying for publicity or are they just stupid? Maybe we need a scoreboard of actors/actresses with who has/hasn't been arrested for DUI/drugs/disorderly conduct?

 I really feel badly for these lost persons, who feel that drinking, drugs, or any kind of abuse done to themselves is cool, popular, or an excuse for PR. I personally believe that they should be fired & forgotten. Don't hire them for work until they can BE responsible adults with brians.

meanwhile -- one of these idiotically irresponsible spoiled children will destroy lives by their actions, either through murdering someone with their vehicle or injuring someone for life -- oh yes, it's all so much fun to drive drunk. NOT!!
Someone PLEASE stop even reporting this as entertainment news? Report it as the serious crime it truly is. 12 people died in my province just this month because of idiots on the roadway.

My name is Rick. I have an excellent driving record. I have worked as both a taxi driver and school bus driver for mentally and physically challenged children. I think this experience would make me perfect to work as a driver for you or any wealthy Hollywood celebrity (lack of talent is no obstacle) who likes to get drunk/stoned while in a car.
I will glady chauffeur you to premieres,supermarket openings,rehab, court appearances or your baby daddy/mama's house.
I have an impeccable driving record and do not indulge in most of the substances that seem to delight have such a hold on you. I do like a beer on occasion but would not drink immediately before or while on duty.
I ask only that you cover my moving expenses, and match my salary and that of my wife who is also an excellent and safe driver. Were you to employ us you would be able to sit in the backseat of your Hummer/Hybrid/extended cab pickup and indulge yourself to your heart's content to an extent that Hank Williams would envy. I would keep my eyes on the road and my mouth shut save in the event of court testimony and even then I would testify only to what I actually saw. And if I don't see it....
