Weeds Singles Out an Olsen Twin

Mary-Kate Olsen has landed a costarring role on Showtime's Weeds this season, playing Tara, a Christian girl living in the new Bible-thumping development of Majestic, and a love interest for Nancy's handful of a son, Silas. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Olsen — in this, her first major solo role sans Ashley — will appear in 10 of the 15 episodes.

Weeds creator Jenji Kohan tells the Reporter that Olsen was "absolutely charming" at her read-through, "and seemed like a great fit. Audiences have seen only one side of Mary-Kate, but here we'll see her in a whole new light." And, I'm thinking/hoping, without the mondo sunglasses.

i think its about time she and Ashley popped out of the twin mold. they are young adults and need to start professional careers independent of each other.

In all seriousness, that is awesome news! I actually like the Olsen twins, excuse me, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and I LOVE Weeds. Hope she does well, I'm not going to hold "Our Lips are Sealed" and "Winning London" as the standard of her acting chops. Did you mean "Agrestic" or is there going to be new housing development called "Majestic"?

Im I the only one who still cant tell the twins apart? I dont know which one is which still. Anyway, I also love Weeds, and I have to see how I feel about her on my favorite show.

This is very interesting to me. I love Weeds and can really almost see her fitting in to this well. It will be cool to see her playing a character alone, not as a twin. Hmmm...I can't wait anyway for Weeds to start again!!

Please...the Olson twins suck..they were sitting behind me at a Pearl Jam show...and were major b$tches to everyone around them....Personally..I took a pic of them with my cell phone (mary kate was smoking when smoking was banned in the arena, and the other was hooking up with this hippy dude) and I took a pic with my cell phone...and they freaked out on me and told their bodyguard to take my phone...nice try...the Olson twins suck..they have a real high opinion of themselves....You got it dude
