As View Announcement Nears, Buzz Cries, "Whoopi!"

As previously scooped by the TV Guide News Report, The View is expected to announce its new cohost by Aug. 2, a timetable confirmed by both Gotham tabs this Thursday morning. While the New York Daily News calls Whoopi Goldberg a shoo-in to join the talker, the Post's Page Six posits that a triad of Whoopi, Kathy Griffin and Sherri Shepherd might rotate in and out of the pair of chairs vacated by Star Jones and Rosie O'Donnell.

So TVGuide.com can have posts appearing double but two ladies can't share one seat cushion?

Boring and obvious choice.

If they shared one seat cushion, they'd probably strangle each other! Don't you know, women don't like to share.

It's just past 7am here, I haven't even finished my first cup of coffee and the rollovers won't go away, I'm seeing double..I'm fairly sure no limoncellos were involved. I used to love starting my day with Matt, but if this keeps up, I might have to call him on the phone and end things...or better yet, maybe a fax... or at text message.

Can we have Whoopi, Sherri, and Kathy take over the show and replace all three women who are currently there? It'd be a massive improvement.

I hope its true Whoopi was my first choice when this all started.

I can't complain about these 3 choices.

Whoppi sucks.....I would rather have Sherri than her. Did you see her freak out when she called for a commercial break too early. She almost had a panic attack. Gayle King was a perfect moderator, but she is boring. I do think that her moderating skills should put her over the top, though. I say, hire her and rotate visiting guests.

Okay, Matt, obviously you're aware of the double posts. But, what I want to know is why TVGuide.com's tech support is so VERY bad? Heck, my local high school's web site does better than this. I find it hard to believe New York has no competent webmasters.

I think Whoopi would make a great addition, but I wish they would also hire someone else like Meredith with a news background as a moderator. For a fleeting moment I had hopes it would be Campbell Brown.....

Last year we replaced a lawyer and an award-winning journalist - with a comedian. To me it doesn't matter that it was Rosie O'Donnell. WHat does matter is that at one point we had views from people with backgrounds other than entertainment. That's where I think the View lost it's integrity. How many different views can there be among 4 women who got their start in the entertainment industry (Barbara isn't on full time so I don't really count her)? Surely there's a doctor working as a medical corespondent or a lawyer working for some ABC affiliate or financial genius reporting on cable somewhere?!

While we are complaining about everything else, when they fix the rest of the stuff, can they send that alien back to the planet he came from? I'm very tired of watching him dance. Thanks much!:)

And the office workers supposedly busted for dancing on the job? Worst acting EVER....

How about an agreement for no more dancing ads on this site ever again.

I'm all for it!!! I love Whoopi and think she'd be an excellent choice. I don't watch The View, but with Whoopi there I would!
