Vanished Vanishes as Justice Reappears
Gale Harold's Eddie Cibrian's ratings-anemic Vanished has been pulled from Fox's prime-time lineup effective immediately, though the final four episodes wrapping up Sara Collin's mysterious disappearance will air online at Fox On Demand, starting today, with Episode 10. The recently vanished Justice will resurface Dec. 1 to claim the Fridays-at-8 pm time slot.

THIS TOTALLY SUCKS! Here in Canada, we are not able to access U.S. 'On demand' services, so we will never get to see how all of that turns out. TOTALLY SUCKS!!

Does Fox really believe they are ever going to get anything going on Fridays? That hasn't happened since the X-Files started and even the X-Files was in danger of being cancelled its first season. It didn't become a huge hit I think until it was moved to Sundays. Can't you just have two non sweep Friday nights and just air the dang final episodes? No one is going to watch the repeats anyway. And no slam against Justice, I can't see it doing any better really.
At least the networks are giving people closure with the online option. It just stinks for people like Cdnlzzy and those who don't have high speed computers or connections.

Justice doesn't have a chance at this point. I'm guessing House reruns are the best counterprogramming to Heroes they're going to get. I'm guessing once Prison Break leaves us they'll try putting Standoff in its slot, seeing as how AI will soon take up valuable real estate on Tuesday nights. 'Til Death might have a shot if they then use the Wednesday results show as a lead in for that.

BTW, Matt, while you're talking to the boss, see if you can get your great print magazine sent up here to Canadian newsstands! Now that OUR TV Guide is going to an online edition only, we'd love to have your magazine up here (which has been a completely different entity for years anyway...and yours...far superior, of course)!
And just to be clear, Twin7Peaks, CdnIzzy's problem isn't because of a computer deficiency. The U.S. networks block their shows from being seen online outside the United States. I'm sure there are legitimate reasons for it, but it's still exasperating!
Oh, and I enjoy Justice over Vanished by faaaarrrr, so this is great news! I know it won't last, but I'll savor the shows that do air! (I wanted to believe that the Gale/Eddie switcheroo was storyline-dictated and not something going on behind the scenes...but I just can't buy it. It gave the show a "dead-show-walking" stank from which it could never recover.)

Well, I can't say I didn't see it coming. Vanished is now living up to it's name, compliments of the network that can't seem to give up the serial format, yet doesn't have a problem letting the small remaining core audience down by canceling with no resolution. I had high hopes before it aired, as did quite a few others judging by the amount of posts in the Watercooler, then every week as it descended further and further towards total laughability more and more were tuning out. It was my favorite train wreck of the season and it won't be missed. What a waste of people's talent and viewer's time, not to mention a boatload of money.
And who says Fox doesn't have replacements ready. I wouldn't be surprised if the gave OJ his own talk show.

Does this mean that they will continue making new episodes of Justice (equivalent to a pick-up for the rest of the season) or just that they will air the episodes already in the can? I love Justice, and this is great news.

Matt: While you're at it, can you have Walter do the same for 'Kidnapped?' He's behind...

Guess Gale gettin killed off wasnt so bad since the show didnt last. But I saw this comin a mile away. The writing was really poor. Gale is AMAZING but the part was crappy..and Ming aint too bad either.

Sucks. Why couldn't they just finish showing them on Fridays or Mondays after PB? They have reruns on then.
The show could have been good. They just made the kidnapping and everything with it too complicated. It's too hard to follow and I shouldn't have to work so hard to remember what happened previously or what everything means.
I mainly only watched because John Allen Nelson was in it.
For those who can't view the show, check out the Web site. Maybe they'll post episode recaps so you can catch up that way as well.

I don't understand. Doesn't the show air on an entirely different network in Canada? Just because Fox isn't showing the last 4 doesn't mean the Canadian network won't.

somethingreal81, although the Canadian networks buy their shows from distributors the same way the American networks do, they almost always schedule them to run at the same time as the U.S. networks. It's just their way of making us watch Canadian commercials, because the cable companies are forced to substitute the Canadian signal over the American shows, even on the American channels. It's a practice that is really annoying to Canadian viewers (especially now that many shows overlap to a minute or two after the hour! Often, we'll be watching the final crucial moments of one show and the cable company will automatically cue another show, and we miss the end!).
Sometimes the Canadian networks will air the remaining episodes they have, but it's rare and it's usually dumped into the middle of the night with no promotion or advance notice.
So yeah, essentially it sucks being Canadian . The one benefit is if one network buys shows that air at the same time in the U.S., they'll often air it a day early or a few hours early, so we get to see it first!
With this whole explanation, it sort of explains why you'll often find Canadian posters being a little more cynical about the perception that the networks care about entertaining their viewers. With our system, it's even clearer that all they really care about it pushing their advertising on us. (For example, when CTV aired the following week's episode of Grey's Anatomy in September, they were caught off guard by the public backlash, because as far as they were concerned, all the commercials aired as they intended.

Canadians also miss out on the previews for the following week at the end of shows.
