Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine) has landed the roles of a lifetime in The United States of Tara, a Showtime pilot produced by Steven Spielberg and centered on a wife and mom with multiple-personality syndrome. Tara's alters include a male biker, a slutty teen and a Martha Stewart-like homemaker. Championing the casting, Showtime prez Robert Greenblatt tells the Reporter, "When [you need] an actress to not only play one complex character, but in this case several, the road begins and ends with Toni Collette. [We] are thrilled to have one of the best young actresses of her generation come aboard this project."

I wasn't sure that I would like a Steven Speilberg produced comedy but this definity has changed my initial thoughts. Toni Collette is great and I can totally see her as the described lead character. We'll probably have to wait a year until we find out if Showtime can continue its streak of turning out high quality shows.

I've loved Showtime shows for many many years now. I go all the way back to Rude Awakening. I always look forward to their new shows. Do we have any idea when this one will come out?

The show hasn't been greenlit to start it's only a pilot, so assuming they are not planning to fasttrack the series, you are looking at about a year long wait. Of course depending on the strike.
