Thursday Ratings: Big Shots Up, Apprentice Down

Thursday's first-run highlights:
8 pm/ET
Ugly Betty topped the hour with 10 million total viewers, a gain of 600K from its last fresh episode (Dec. 6). The last new 30 Rock (blargh) drew six mil, a 420 thou increase from Dec. 13.
9 pm
CSI was No. 1 in viewers (18.1 mil, down 1.7 from Dec. 13), while Grey's Anatomy (17.6 mil) claimed the lead in key demos. Week 2 of Celebrity Apprentice, delivering 8.1 mil, plunged 26 percent from its premiere.
10 pm
Without a Trace (13.2 mil, slipping almost two mil from Dec. 13) bested ER (9.1 mil), though NBC eked out a win in demos. The oft-delayed arrival of Charisma Carpenter (I would like to think) led Big Shots to a 27 percent gain over its previous episode. (Though the audience for ABC's freshman series now stands at just 6.8 mil, making a big deal out of the increase gives me an excuse to run the photo above right.)

I used to think I would watch Marilu Henner do anything in anything, but apparently I draw the line somewhere. Not even she would make me endure a cringeworthy hour of the insufferable Donald Trump!
On the other hand, I will sit through an hour of the disappointing Big Shots to see my Charisma Carpenter. She is hhhhhhhhot! It made me go and dig out her poolside debut on Veronica Mars. (sigh)

Undeniable hhhhhhhhotness aside, wasn't her performance nice and refreshing? Something sunny and bright and light about it, not the usual vixen full of snark and 'tude.
That said, yes, it's also nice to dig out the V Mars clip.

I can't wait to hear how Trump spins this. Anyone else remember how he claimed to have the number one show on NBC...even though he didn't. Then he blamed his falling numbers on Martha Stewart diluting his franchise.

Sheldon, he'll probably blame it on the writers' strike. Or global warming. Or maybe the shooter on the grassy knoll.
I couldn't sit through Big Shots, not even for Charisma Carpenter. Then again, she's not "my type".

It makes me so very sad for our nation when The Apprentice can sucker over 8 million people to watch P, T and W-list "celebrities" try and milk another couple of seconds from their original 15 seconds of fame while 30 Rock looks like it's going to be the next Arretsed Development, struggling to snare 6 million.

She definitely could, Gord. It's a shame she's doing stuff like this. At least it's still better than being on a 'reality' show. I'm glad she didn't do that.

Buffy Freak, considering 30 Rock just isn't funny I can see why it struggles with ratings. I've tried watching several episodes but they were all boring beyond belief. Basically it's another Scrubs, lots of critical acclaim, yet no laughs to be found.
I wouldn't watch Big Shots even for Charisma Carpenter, but I agree someone really needs to give her her own show.
