To Tell the Schrute: Office Spin-off Talk Is Bogus

Responding to a FoxNews.com report (which I never bothered passing along to you) that new NBC overlord Ben Silverman is looking to spin off The Office's Dwight into his own show, a source close to Mr. Schrute's portrayer, Rainn Wilson, tells TVGuide.com that the "buzz" is "totally made up... a complete farce."

And here we thought our autographed bobblehead Dwights were about to rocket in eBay value. Drat.

Good. The Office is a true ensemble - the whole is much more valuable than any one part.

At least get creative if you're going to spin a show off. Don't splinter the main cast in order to milk it.

Maybe a show centered around the warehouse guys? I'd watch that. It's gotta be funnier than that Caveman show.

I have "bad" news, mrbillydotcom — I just watched the entrie Cavemen pilot, and it's actually kinda... cute. Very funny in parts, even.

Ha, awesome. Hey, if the Caveman show is funny, that isn't bad news at all. I've been waiting my whole life for a funny sitcom about cavemen.

Phew, I hate spinoffs. ("Frasier" excepted.) Haven't these people ever heard of "too much of a good thing?"

I hope ABC is giving you some big bucks, 'cause your reputation is now riding on the quality of "Cavemen."

ETA: Although, the fact that you chose not to pass on something coming from Fox "News" does give you a big karma bonus.
