Survivor Names a New Sole Survivor

The tribe has spoken, and (spoiler alert!) the winner of Survivor: China is someone who was all of 14 years old when the original edition of CBS' long-running reality competition aired. Thanks to his inarguably smart game play, Todd Herzog of Pleasant Grove, Utah, emerged victorious during Sunday night's finale, besting the formidable likes of both Amanda and Courtney.

What's your take? Is this winner truly a winner? Did you think someone else would win?

Missed the finale or want to revisit it? Keep an eye out for Rhoda's Survivor: China recap.

I think Courtney gave Jeff the middle finger when he brought up the comments she said earlier in the show about Denise. She did it slyly in front of her mouth. Did anyone else notice it? If you have it on your DVR you should rewind the reunion show to that place. I think it was intentional. What does everyone else think?

Yes Nick I noticed the finger thing too. It looked like she tried to hide it as she was scratching her chin. She is truly an unlikable person and did not deserve to be in the final three let alone get two votes!

Anyway...I was rooting for Amanda but only if she had the nerve to oust Todd but alas she didn't. I also would have like to have seen Denise go all the way but we all knew she was only there for the three of them to have the numbers they needed.

Yeah for James! So glad he won the 100 G's. Love love loved him! So genuine and likeable and not too hard on the eyes. ;)

I can't believe Denise lost her job. I hope she finds a good lawyer. Kudos to Mark Burnett for having a gracious heart.

That was so satisfying! They talked to everybody, all my questions were answered, it didn't feel rushed. It was great!

I noticed Courtney's finger too and I would bet it was intentional. There is not one likeable thing about her at all. She's disgusting.

Mark Burnette, you are a class act!

I can't wait until next season. Please, please let Rupert be there!!

Yep, she gave him the finger. I was shocked (though in retrospect I don't know why) at how blatant she was about it, and with that typical innocent expression on her face. I also noticed that the camera cut away very abruptly.

I was hoping for Amanda for the win, but thankful that it was not Courtney. Not ousting Todd (instead of Denise) was Amanda's downfall.

Anybody but me think Todd looked a little like a young Tom Cruise on the reunion show? (not that I care for either...)

I noticed the finger salute too. Not very classy, but she never seemed classy to me. Since there's a graduated payout (unless things have changed since the first season), Courtney would make more a higher prize than Denise. So I was happy that Mark Burnett is helping out. Seems like a stupid reason not to give her the job back.

Another disappointing finish where the winners only claim to fame was that he was the biggest lying weasel in the game.

I don't remember him being very helpful around camp, contribute much in his teams challanges, or win challanges on his own.

So take your million and laugh all the way to the bank Todd, but you don't seem the kind of person I'd ever want to know or even meet.

Sadly this game has turned into one where the meak, lame, lazy and ditzy players (and those just riding on any ones coattails they can latch onto) gang up on the strong players early and get rid of them.

It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth when I look at the finalists each time now and could honestly say none of them deserve it!

Too bad they don't have a "None of the Above" slot on the jury's ballot slip.

Maybe I was just in a bad mood, but that reunion left a bad taste in my mouth. Todd just sounded so mercenary when talking about how he snagged Amanda and Courtney and how appreciative he was of all the others for allowing him to use them. I realize that is all part of the game, but somehow, the way he explained himself just rubbed me the wrong way. He kept talking about how the relationships were real but I really couldn't believe it. He just sounded so gleefully sociopathic.

Praising Courtney for her behavior seemed wrong too. Once James was gone and it was obvious that Denise was just a number, I was rooting for Amanda, but she just came off weak in fhe final TC. Still, it stinks that Courtney got more votes than she did. So Courtney gets 100K and Amanda gets nothing?

Real glad that James won the 100K and that Mark Burnett gave Denise 50K. I appreciate that the school couldn't have the disruption during the already hectic lunch period, but it seems to me that it wouldn't last all that long. The kids would lose interest. Still they didn't completely fire her, they just gave her a different job that happens to keep her away from her family more. Didn't she say she was opening her own Karate studio? Was that what she planned to do with the money if she'd won? If so, hopefully the 50K will accomplish that. I don't know if that would mean she would spend more time with the family though. At my school the owner/master is there at all times, from open to close 5 1/2 days a week. Very dedicated, but he sees his family very little.

I think for Denise she would be best to leave the school and explore employment at a restaurant. She could do prep cooking with her experience. Any restaurant in her area would be smart to hire her just for the star status. That is of course if she needs a job. She would be smart to take the money and open her own Karate school.

The best player won, hands down. He may not have helped around camp which I always think is important, but when it came to making well thought out strategic plays then Todd was a hard worker. It doesn't matter how you win, just that you do. This game isn't set up for people to be sweet and nice to each other. Amanda was making stupid choices at the end so she wasn't deserving. Courtney was a complainer from the get go and I was tired of her playing the skinny little girl card. She shouldn't have been there in final three. And finally, good old Denise - what the heck was the quivering lower lip and teary eyed pity party she directed at Amanda trying to get her to not vote for her saying she'd go back to her $7 an hour job. What the heck kind of salary does she think a graver digger, a hiking guide, or a waitress make? I say take some classes and get a better job. Todd played well and won, congratulations guy!!
