Survivor: Micronesia: Are CBS' Favorites Yours, Too?

CBS has unveiled the "favorites" for Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites, and there are some doozies. Two from the most recent season — China's James (aka the gravedigger who had two immunity idols and still managed to get blindsided) and hiking guide Amanda (who came in a distant third) — have signed on, as have Vanuatu's female-power queen Ami and the self-proclaimed "most-hated man in reality television" (and really, who are we to argue?), Pearl Islands’ Jonny Fairplay. Among the most exciting repeat players are Cook Islands' "Ozzy," who impressed everyone with his even temper and his incredible swimming and tree-climbing abilities, and Fiji's Yau-Man, the likable underdog who might have won it all had Dreamz not broken his word to give Yau immunity in exchange for a Ford truck.

Those of us watching from the comfort of our own couches (instead of from a leaky, lumpy shelter) surely will be psyched to see how Survivor's "10 ultra-fans" (per CBS' press release) fare against the faves when Micronesia debuts Thursday, Feb. 7, at 8 pm. — Nina Hämmerling Smith

I'd be really excited about this—if it were not for Jonny Fairplay. He's not just hated. He's despised. He's the one that brought the whole family-tragedy lie aspect to the show.

As much as I love this show, I'm strongly tempted to turn this one off. Our only hope is that outplayed, outwitted, and outlasted by Ozzie, James, Yao, and company.

And now it's time for a moment of silence for the "original" favorite who is locked up in prison --- Richard Hatch.

You know, despite watching Survivor: Vanuatu, I can't remember who Ami is. That was the season with Sarge, right?

I saw this list on another website weeks ago and hoped it was a plant or just misinformation. It's pretty disappointing, IMO.

I'd say they're using the term "fan favorites" pretty loosely. With the exception of Yau Man, Ozzy and James, none of the others is a past favorite or even memorable. Ami? Eliza? Parvati? Don't even get me started on Johnny Fairplay...

LAME.

I would have liked to see Terry from Panama, who is one of the best players ever who didn't win his season. Maybe also give Bruce (Panama) another chance since he had to leave due to illness.

I love it...I am so psyched for this season and am thrilled with their choices. I hate Fairplay, but come on, he HAD to be there, he's one of the most notorious characters in the show's history. I'm especially thrilled to see Cirie. The "fans" have also been announced and they all look like strong people, as well! Great choices all around and here's to yet another great season of Survivor!

I like the cast. It's pretty funny to see Fairplay there, but I agree there has to be a villain.

Ami and Eliza are there because they are among the few standout women Burnett & co. had to choose from. Ami wants to run the show (she led a female alliance in Vanuatu) and Eliza is very outgoing and is willing to backstab. In other words, Ami and Eliza aren't boring coattail riders like most of the women on the show. That's why why were chosen.

I'm glad to see Jonathan Penner in the cast. He was my fave from Cook Islands.

For those of you who are B&M'ing about Fairplay being on the show, why not just have fun rooting against him? Another positive way to look at Fairplay is... if the favorites tribe loses an immunity challenge Fairplay will be an easy vote-out and one of the players you DO like will be able to stay in the game.

The pathetically cheesey Willie Aames knockoff depicted in this story guarantees this loyal "Survivor" fan WON'T be watching. I mean, c'mon, even Jeff Probst has called this person out on his douchiness. The Pearl Islands idiot should've seen his 15 minutes expire years ago--and certainly by the time he was neutered last fall by Danny Bonadouchebag (of all people).

I predict this is the season "Survivor" votes itself off the island, over the shark and into the abyss of former hit shows.

To the supposed Survivor fans who are saying they won't watch this season because of Fairplay, I say... don't let the door hit you in the rear. The rest of us will enjoy watching another good season of Survivor.

I am not only disappointed, but ANGRY that Johnny Fairplay will be back.
He seems to actually enjoy being despised, and only laughs at those who think he's an obnoxious jerk (and I'm toning down my own language here)--so my bet is that he has some real emotional problems. I don't know if I'll be able to take that smirking face of his again.

But at least Rob and Ambuh won't be back on (unless they crash the proceedings by parachuting out of a plane or something).

Too bad Stephanie won't be back, though.
I admire her more than any other person who has been on the show! Rupert was a favorite of mine, too.

I'm glad Amanda will be back--love that butt of hers but if it gets fuzzed out in every shot again, I'll throw a brick at the TV.

I'll be rooting for the superfans, especially if they go into the merge with a numerical advantage. Though, I highly expect that "Survivor" will mix up the teams, either at the beginning or prior to the merge. I can't see them keeping the veterans and the newbies separate until the final 10.

Are CBS' favorites, my favorites? Not really.

I'm glad they're bringing back James, but in a way, the man was so stupid, it's like he doesn't even deserve another chance to win the money.

Amanda I found one of the most boring and blah contestants. There were so many more interesting players the last Survivor, why not bring one of them back, instead.

It would have been nice to see Stephanie and Rupert again.

If they wanted to go the Johnny Fairplay route, they should have brought back some of the most outrageous players from past seasons. Like Sue Hawk and John-Robert.

Ah well, on the bright side, no Rob and Amber, which is wonderful

Without Todd around carrying her and doing all the dirty work, wonder how far Amanda will go?

If James get another idol I hope he uses if he has a feeling that he will be blindsided. And Im glad that Yau man is coming back. He cracked me up when he made up that fake immundity idol. As long as I live that was one of the funniest things I have seen on a reality show. And if he wins a very big prize I hope he thinks long and hard about trading it for something else.

And please no Rob and Amber. I don't think I can take those 2.
