VIDEO: Eric Kripke Talks About Dean's Supernatural Healing
Last we saw of Dean, his body was decomposing six-feet under while his soul was trapped deep in the bowels of hell. But have we got a scoop for you! Supernatural creator Erick Kripke told our Comic-Con extraordinaire, Erin Fox, what's in store for the brotherly duo — complete with the gory "necrophiliac" details of the body, bringing Dean back from Satan's lair fairly early in the season and a "supernatural healing." Plus: Find out the fans' take on what thought of Dean getting sent to hell.
They have one great recurring female character that we could see a bunch without people minding. Ellen. Now, to a lesser degree, seeing Jo would be cool too.
The thing is, they keep trying to bring in these kick-ass hot chicks that can keep up with the guys and that means that people are stepping on the toes of the main characters. With Ellen, you have the mother figure, kinda like Bobby's the father figure. She's not a threat to the guys and it's not like they're trying to find a love interest or something. Just like Jo works best as a little sister type of character rather than a seductress or a flirt.
The show's about family. When you add to the family within the show, it tends to work better. The father figure, the mother figure, the sister figure. When you try to spice it up or get fancy, it tends to not work. Bela and Ruby just showing up every week and saving the day got old. Road trip shows don't work when you have the same people showing up like they're stalking the guys.
Great news! Jensen will be back in the beginning!! This has me soo excited. I have been fortunate enough to see the 5 min clip, and Jensen was brilliant as usual!
Does anyone know where I can find the 5 minute clip of the first episode of Season 4? I need something to tide me over - well I will be watching all three seasons before the new one starts, but something new would be nice...
Without being able to see (well, hear actually)I'm commenting blind, but... On the resurrection front, maybe it'll be a situation like on Buffy: even though she was dead, buried, and decomposing once her soul came back her body just reconstituted. It's TV, ALL the details aren't necessary-just a good story.
I'm just hoping they pull a Buffy (coming back normal) vs. a Torchwood (to nutshell for those who don't watch, Owen died and was resurrected but was undead--he couldn't heal from injury, eat, sleep, etc. It got comlpicated). In any event, I hope he doesn't come back undead. We want our Dean straight-up alive and kickin'...
I just want to thank Eric Kripke, for admitting that the reason fans havent taken to regular female characters is how they have written them.
The supernatural creative team, and Jensen and Jared have set this standard we as fans expect to see in all the characters. As a fan i get a little aggravated at hearing its because we're jealous,um no i'm not i just want the best!
So thanks for that Eric, its nice to know you really do listen to us fans...
Very funny interview. Thanks, TV Guide. I loved it that Kripke was being very oblique, not really letting anything out about the upcoming season. Frustrating and gratifying at the same time. I can't wait for the season to start!
I think it is great that we will learn what happened to Dean in hell and how he was impacted emotionally by that experience. Do you think we will ever learn what happened to Sam when he was killed (where did he go) or how he was affected by his "resurrrection"?
