Supernatural Scores X-citing Guest Star For Season 4

X-Files vet Mitch Pileggi, who may (or may not) have just appeared in the series' latest movie, already has a new gig lined up for fall — as a guest on Supernatural.

Speaking at the raucous Supernatural panel at Comic-Con, series creator Eric Kripke offered some scoop for the ravenous audience when pressed about upcoming guests. Pileggi will be appearing in Season 4 as Mary's father — thus, Sam and Dean's pappy!

The panel's other highlights included the surprise arrival of the two Ghost Facers and a sneak peek of the first five minutes of Season 4. The Ghost guys — who just might get their own mini spin-off — treated us to their special song and cracked the audience up when Jensen Ackles escorted them off stage.

The session was much less spoilery and playful than than that of Smallville, and Kripke was far more cryptic about what's to come than might suit his loyal fans. But the adoration of Jared Padalecki and Ackles for their sheer gorgeousness was so zealous that the actors couldn't help but fan the flames for a cheering crowd.

The panel's closing moments added some laughs as Kripke brought along a bloopers reel that added some levity to the room — and showcased just how awesomely goofy the show's hunky leads can really be.

So, will you be tuning in for the X-factor this coming Supernatural season? — Anna Dimond

I realize this a discussion for Supernatural at Comic-con. But I was wondering why their isn't any coverage of the TV GUIDE Panel discussion for the new showsLife on Mars, Virtuality, and Kyle XY? Was it cancelled last night?
You would think TV Guide would be making an effort to market their own.

Personally, I've got a grin a mile wide that I can't wipe off my face right now thinking about the cosmic perfection in having Walter Skinner be the grandfather of Sam and Dean! Just how awesome is that casting? I've always adored The X-Files and I think Mitch Pileggi will be perfect as the grandfather for the boys.

Can't wait to see this episode!!

...is it September yet?:-D

Thanks, Matt! I have been waiting all day for Con news of the Supernatural panel! Sounds like it was hilarious! Can't wait for the videos of their "raucous" behavior! Man, I love the folks associated with this show!:-x

Back when Supernatural was good it would have been great to see Pileggi on the show.
But now? With waitresses and bimbos all over the place? With Sam and Dean's bond gone? Dean always pissed at Sam and horny all the time?
Who cares anymore?
So DumbKripke was cryptic? About what?
About the bimbos of the new season?
Or about Ackles ass? We know how much Kripke loves that.

Okay, what is WITH their love of the Ghostfacers nitwits? That was the worst episode of Supernatural ever. And that includes Red Sky at Morning. Ben Edlund must have brainwashed Kripke. That's the only explanation I have for why he's so in love with all his bad comic book ideas.

Given the way that portions of Supernatural fandom leap to conclusions and rush to judgment on any spoilery snippet, I'm delighted that Kripke played it cagey and cryptic. Pileggi as the boys' grandfather should be delightful.

Isn't it time yet for the season to start? I'm looking forward to it eagerly.

Mary - I don't think a lot of Supernatural fans leap to conclusions. There was a time when we were all excited about everything we heard, but Kripke has dropped the ball so many times that it's reflex now to wonder what the Hell he's thinking.

As always, Mary, well said.:)Have I ever mentioned how wonderful it is to have a temperate voice of reason like yours out and about on the boards? Thank you!

RedBird is at the convention- she said she'd write up a report for us as soon as she could. So hopefully she can tell us first hand how "cagey and cryptic" Eric was today.

Mitch Pileggi is an excellent choice! I do have to wonder if the man's really old enough to be the brothers' grandfather, though...?

Dean always pissed at Sam and horny all the time?

I seem to remember it as quite the opposite. Sam pissed at Dean alot more than vice versa, last season. And for this coming season there hasn't been anything saying that Dean would be pissed at Sam. The trouble in their relationship has been mentioned but not with one brother specifically being pissed at the other, more like both of them butting heads.

I've been as disappointed by various things as much as anyone but the above hasn't happened nor has it been spoiled.

I know this is a forum about Supernatural, but it's worth noting that Mitch Pileggi has also had a recurring guest spot on Stargate Atlantis. I'm just sayin'....

What's with all the hate? I enjoyed the last season of Supernatural & can't wait for September. So many funny episodes including the Ghostfacers episode. Anyone whose seen Ghosthunters knows it was a spot on parody. I also love to see the X-Files crossover. So many familiar X-Files names already working on the show.
