Strike Talk: Seth MacFarlane's Family Feud, and More

If Fox goes ahead and airs a new Family Guy this Sunday without creator Seth MacFarlane's seal of approval, although the net is within its rights to do so, Seth says it will be "a colossal d--k move" and "damaging to our relationship".... In a curious show of support for strikers, Curb Your Enthusiasm's Jeff Garlin handed out adult-film DVDs at a rally in L.A., the New York Post reports. Thankfully, he wasn't actually in the videos.... NBC is bailing on the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, reports Variety. The other networks are still debating the pros and cons of unveiling shows like "The Bachelor 12: Dumber Than the Last 11, But Check Out Those Abs" and "Wife Swap: The Rudy Giuliani Edition." — Ben Katner

Matt, why doesn't Seth McFarlane want Fox to air a new Family Guy this Sunday? The Lois/Stewie 2-parter was awesome!

Jeff Garlin received the adult videos from LA radio station KROQ which he went to in order to promote his John Waters film. It was to show what happens when writers are not part of the movie-making process.

Becuase the episode wasn't quite fine-tuned. Fox, though, reserves the right to "finish it" and get it on the air.

Matt,

How come no one is talking about how this strike could alienate the fans? There are many more viewing options than in 1988 and there is no guarantee that the viewers will return. It seems to me that it would be worth a few extra pennies per $20 dvd to be fair with the people who do all of this hard work. The actors are extraordinarily well paid yet they can do nothing without the words on the page.

semichguy70,

This has alot more to do with just a few pennies per DVD sale. Hell, the WGA even took that of the table the day before they striked and the studios still didn't take the offer. That's vbecause the studios want:

*No coverage of writing for new media.

*No credits in advertising.

*no residuals will be paid on theatrical or television projects until the project has reached profitability.

Here's the full reason why they went on strike:

So you know, spread the word that this isn't just over a couple of pennies on DVD.
