For Stewart and Colbert Fans, Good Newsy News

Both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report will resume production of new episodes starting Jan. 7, returning to the airwaves that night sans their striking scribes. In a joint statement, the newsmensches say, "We would like to return to work with our writers. If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence — but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence." Adds a less-funny Comedy Central rep, "We continue to hold out hope for a swift resolution to the current stalemate that will enable the shows to be complete again."

I have been waiting for an eternity for John and Stephen to finally come back. The new year can't be here soon enough.

This is great! It's about time we heard from Jon and Steven in time for the primaries. I just can't imagine what the show will be like without writers, as most of the material is written. A half hour of interviews?

Good news. But it would be great news if the writers strike were over.

So what if they don't use their writers? Last time I checked both Stewart and Colbert were WGA members!

Why is it OK for them to cross the picket line and go back on air and yet Ellen Degeneres and Carson Daly got all the hatred?

Don't get me wrong - I am very happy they're going back on air. I just think the way Ellen was treated was stupid and disgusting.

While I'm glad to have them back, The Daily Show will not be the same without Samantha Bee, Jason Jones and all the other "correspondents".

Buffy - the correspondents aren't coming back? Why?

As for Ellen, she didn't even wait a month before going back to suck up more money. Unlike these guys, she wasn't forced back by another contract. She wanted to do it. I hope Viacom/MTV (the owners of Comedy Central) come to regret their actions when these satirists lambaste the AMPTA on a daily basis.

As for Carson Daly, he couldn't possibly be a WGA member as he has no talent.

Well I can't imagine they are coming back as they are also the writers. Much like when Letterman and Leno, Stewart and Colbert will be doing the writing themselves. Maybe somebody from TV Guide could chime in and enlighten us on this?
