Spielberg's Social Network Does What Exactly?

Call me a Luddite, but I'm not as familiar with social networks as somebody who works for a website probably should be. So the news that Steven Spielberg would be launching a social network was kind of shrug-worthy for me, even more so when I discovered that said forum would be a venue where people could share their paranormal or extraterrestrial experiences (aka the worst cocktail party imaginable).

Doesn't such a website already exist? Is Spielberg fishing for new material? The man's wide-ranging tastes have always impressed me, so maybe he's on to something. I loved his alien films, of course, but I also can't wait to see how he directs Liam Neeson as Abraham Lincoln in an upcoming biopic. But a spooky ghost-story website? I don't know; it seems a little beneath him.

But, like I said, I'm ignorant in the ways of social networking. Educate me: Is this idea better than it sounds? — Mickey O'Connor

This is my theory, Mickey, and while no one here will subscribe to it, here goes:

Spielberg has found a way to embed within a web site a one-way video camera looking out at the PC user. He will then plant ghostly apparitions and what not onto the site to bug out people, record their reactions, and then turn it into some zany Mark Burnett reality show.

Never had an unexplainable experience yourself, have you, Matt. You just need one before you say "I want understanding of what just happened. I want to know if anyone else has experienced this. And I want to know now!" I hope you announce this when it goes up, because I'll be watching for it.

The headline was enough to interest me. Anything with Spielberg's name is enough to interest others. I was thinking, as I clicked it that, being "older," I have not spent much time with/on social networking sites. The freaks are out there though, listen to Art Bell or whomever is hosting that Coast to Coast radio show on supernatural sometime.

Well that is what Shirley MacLaine's web site has been about for years. So nothing new here gang just a bigger name attached to it this time.
