He's come a long way from Firehouse Dog. Bruce Greenwood has landed the role of Captain Kirk's predecessor, Christopher Pike, in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek prequel.... Saw slasher Shawnee Smith, Texas Chainsaw Massacre babe Erica Leerhsen and Day of the Dead's AnnaLynne McCord have been cast in Slaughter, as actresses unwittingly hired to be in a Japanese snuff film.... Billy Bob Thornton has been tapped to play a good-guy G-man in Eagle Eye, a thriller in which Shia LaBeouf (of all people) is accused of being a terrorist. — Ben Katner

Hey, Matt, I'm not a Trekkie and I don't even usually play one on the Internets, but just to point out to you:

1) Christopher PINE is the actor who has been cast as the young Captain KIRK, who is not the first captain of the Enterprise.

2) Bruce Greenwood has been cast as Captain Christopher PIKE, the first captain of the Enterprise -- a role that was played Jeffrey Hunter.

I know that you got it semi-right in the text, but the headline ("recast") is misleading due to the similarity of the names between Pine the actor and Pike the character.

Also, I just wanted to note that I remember Erica Leershen not from some lame Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, but from The Blair Witch Project 2 -- Okay, part of that is because it was the big break for Burn Notice's Jeffrey Donovan, too. And part of the reason is because it's one of the few movies that actually calls for a director's cut. Even though, yeah, it's The Blair Witch Project 2. What can I say? The director makes a really great case for it in the commentary track. Oh, and did I mention that Jeffrey Donovan and Erica Leershen were in it?

Thanks, Rob. I'm well aware of how I wrote the headline. ;)
