Stanley Kamel, who played Dr. Charles Kroger on the USA series Monk, has died. He was 65.

Access Hollywood reports that he was found in his Hollywood Hills home by his agents. Sources say Kamel suffered a heart attack.

Kamel appeared in numerous TV roles over the past three decades, including as Rebecca Gayheart's father on Beverly Hills, 90210.

A network representative said, "USA is deeply saddened by the news of Stanley Kamel’s passing. Stanley was an amazingly talented and extremely kind man, and an important member of the USA family. He will be sorely missed." — J.R. Whalen

What is Monk going to do without his session with Dr. Kroger?

Seriously anner2, the man died and you want to know about the show. Show some compassion to the man's family and coworkers. I am sure their first thought was about losing a friend not about the storeline.

This makes me sad. He was so likable as Dr. Kroger. The show won't be the same without him. May he rest in peace.

It's possible to hold simultaneous thoughts. I have to admit, my first thought was "Oh no, what will Adrian do?" I think it's a tribute to a fine actor, and it's not an inappropriate thought, in my opinion.

What a long, fine career Stanley Kamel has had. I remember him from a dozen different TV shows, but he stands out in my mind from Murder One and Barney Miller. He also had some great recurring roles on L.A. Law, NYPD Blue and others. Excellent character actors are not a dime a dozen, and Kamel is a presence that will be missed on our TV screens.

And yes, poor Mr. Monk.

The first thought my mother and I both had was "How is Monk going to cope with this!?"

I can't help that that was my first thought (or my mother's, or the other people who have posted here--save one). And I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who thought that!

Of course we're saddened by his death--but that's how good he was as an actor that we automatically thought of his role on Monk!

That is so sad. May he rest in peace.

My first thought was that is so sad I will miss him on Monk.

He was so good on the show and I am not surprised people thought of that first. That is probably the last place most people saw him.

So sad to hear this, not a Monk watcher, but I know Stanley Kamel's work from a million other shows.

Truly one of my favourite character actors. May he rest in peace.

My first thought was also "What is Monk going to do!?". I'd love to see Monk try to cope with this.

And, of course, RIP. You were a very funny man.

Lighten up, stschaferst! Dr. Kroger is the way many people identify with Stanley Kamel. I agree with TV Gord that such comments are a reflection of his talent and not some form of myopic heartlessness that deserves scolding. Truly gifted actors can create characters that resonate with us, so that we feel an even greater loss with their passing.

I agree with you Hermosa2, get over yourself aalskdjhf (or whatever your jumbled name is), the fact is that if he wasn't an actor with a bit of fame, no one here would even care that some random 65 year old man died. Of course those of us who love Monk are immediatley going to wonder what will happen with the show because he was such a key figure in it. In some ways a little bit of the show died with him. Quit being so overly PC.
