Spitzer Fuels Late-night Laughs (and a Letterman Rant) Before Resigning

The outing of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer as a frequenter of a high-class call-girl racket gave late-night talk hosts plenty to work with on Tuesday. Riffing on the Emperor Club's infamous "Client 9," Conan O'Brien noted, "Not surprisingly, Clients 1 through 8 were Charlie Sheen." (Good!) Said Stephen Colbert, "I sat next to the guy three times and I didn't pick up on any of this, and I usually have excellent whore-dar." (Not bad.) Contributed Jay Leno, "The hooker said Spitzer was done in a New York minute." (Crickets/groans/fumbling for Ensure.)

And while David Letterman got in his own jabs — "It's so sunny and bright outside that earlier today, Eliot Spitzer came out of a brothel squinting" — the Late Show host got serious once he had settled behind his desk, saying that Spitzer "should have just stepped down.... Get out of the office. Who is running the state, for the love of god?" Dave said the governor should not sort out his life on the public dime, but rather "go down to the Mayflower Hotel" — Spitzer's rendezvous spot of choice — "and figure it out there."

That said, for a second straight night Letterman's Top 10 was Spitzer-themed, citing messages left on the disgraced politician's answering machine. Coming in at No. 1: "It's Arnold Schwarzenegger. Thanks. I'm no longer America's creepiest governor."

Oh yes, like D.C. and The Mayflower (which is a nice hotel) really want him to return. Let him stay in NY, although, not as governor.

@Buffy Freak I dunno, Leno seemed to do much better when the writers were on strike. He should try that approach again.

Too bad there's a mechanism in place to replace the governor. It would be fun to have to appoint someone to find a replacement, and then the headline could be, "Chooser Up, Spitzer Out"! wokka wokka!

HOW TO FIGHT THE EVIL OR PROSTITUTION IN AMERICA

Prostitution has become an epidemic in US. More than 70% of American women are directly or indirectly openly engaged in prostitution, acting in professional and amateur porn movies, nude stripping and high class call girl and escort services. America has gone completely sexually crazy. Almost every 20-27 yr old American girl wants or dreams of being a glamor model so they can get rich just taking their clothes off and posing for photos. Millions of them dream of careers in music, TV and movies so they can contribute to moral corruption of America and also get rich doing so. Millions more are into porn movies where they engage in all manners of unnatural and sickening sexual acts that are better seen than described. I am in favor of laws that will make prostitution illegal in all the states of America because it debases women and also rips men off and destroy families. And yet women cannot help becoming prostitutes because it is the easiest and most magnetic way for them to make money and still have fun doing so. One way this can be tackled is to make a law that forces prostitutes to pay their Johns (customers) instead of the Johns paying them. Another way to fight this evil is to sentence any prostitute that is caught to a long sentence, say 20-50 yrs with hard labor in prison with only a slice of bread and a piece of cheese for food daily, without TV and recreation privileges. Moreover, America should do something about illegal child bearing, because the more America neglects this serious issue the more illegal children there will be and more social problems and crimes will keep multiplying. Any man or woman who wants to have children must first be married. And before getting married, you must prove to the state that you have enough money and assets to take care of your children and wife. If anyone violates this law, he or she should be prosecuted, convicted and sent to prison for 20-50 yrs with hard labor for bastardization of America. Prostitution is just a tip of the iceberg of social and moral problems in America. America must stop cutting the branches of its tree of problems.
