Not Smooth, Jin: Lost Star Nabbed for DUI
Daniel Dae Kim by John Sciulli/WireImage.com
Don't pick any green bananas, Jin. Original Lost cast member Daniel Dae Kim on early Thursday morning was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, the Honolulu Advertiser reports. Details of Kim's DUI arrest haven't been released, but police said he was flagged down around 3 am, booked at the downtown Honolulu police station and then released at 5:05.
A silent Kim was escorted by two officers to an SUV that was waiting for him just outside the swan police station's receiving area. (Watch video of his release here.) With Cynthia Watros and Michelle Rodriguez, Kim is the third Lostie to get slapped with a DUI charge.

Hmm, I wonder if Jin will die this season now. DUI's seems to be the kiss of death for Lost actors.

Is living in Hawaii really that boring? It seems like the only extracurricular activity these LOST actors participate in is bending the elbow. Maybe they should seek out other hobbies?

I bet the writers are planning his death right now.
Goodbye Jin, we hardly knew ya.

Sheesh, how many is that? I mean, I know of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros, and I'd heard Evangeline Lilly got ticketed for speeding...
C'mon, folks, it's HAWAII! There's more to do there besides get drunk behind the wheel!

I live in Honolulu, and the police have been more aware of road crimes these last couple of years. Not just drunk driving but reckless driving, racing, and the general disobedience of traffic rules. Earlier this year and last year there was a particularly high rate (for Hawaii) of pedestrian fatalities. It could be that the Honolulu Police Department is just being very vigilant.
Oh, and our speed limits are very low on the freeways (50-55 mph in most areas), so it doesn't take a whole lot of speed to catch the attention of the police at 3am in the morning on an empty stretch of the highway.
I don't think the Lost actors are getting drunk and driving any more than they would if they filmed elsewhere--HPD is just catching them.
It's really sad when anybody drinks and drives, but Daniel Dae Kim is a family man. From what I hear he's a very nice, smart guy. I guess I wasn't expecting this from him.

Maybe Hawaiian police are just really effective about drunk driving?
Plus with state laws so different maybe the legal limit is much lower than the mainland - it kind of should be since you can careen off the road so easily there.

soundscene, I really appreciate your perspective from that paradise that is known as Hawaii!
Gee, the police department sees a problem, recognizes a problem and becomes more vigilant in reaction to the problem!!!??? Book me on the next flight to Honolulu!!! It DOES sound like paradise!!!

I thought the same thing when I read the headline--"Well, Jin's dying soon."
Somebody could/should start a shuttle service for celebs who've had too much to drink. I'd think that they could charge double what an ordinary cab driver would, and it would still be cheaper than the court costs, jail sentences and bad P.R. that can result when a star gets a DUI.

monkey65, I hear The Partridge Family bus just needs a brake job and then it would be all ready to go! The down side, of course, is that the PF-shuttle would be driven by Danny Bonaduce!
(There were rumors that Britney took an auto mechanics course when she was in Promises and that she volunteered to do the work, but when she realized they said brake job, she suddenly un-volunteered!)

First of all, we don't know if the guy was drunk or not. Maybe he had 3 beers which would put him over the legal limit (a glass of wine puts you almost at the limit). We've all had a beer or two and we're not drunk. But regardless, he did break the law....it seems to be an obvious trend -- celebs behaving badly!
