On Smallville, Supergirl Is Superman's Mom. Got it?

Allow me to explain. A Warner Bros. rep confirms for TVGuide.com that Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in 1984's tepidly received Superman film franchise spin-off, will guest on Smallville this season as the aunt of Kara aka Supergirl (played by series newcomer Laura Vandervoort). Slater's small-screen alter ego, though, is not some adoptive "I found you in a crater in my cornfield" sort of Earthling aunt. No, she is none other than Lara-El, Clark's Kryptonian mama. (Perhaps in Smallville mythology she was "away" on a spa vacation to Venus when her home went kablooey?)

Thus far, Slater is slated to appear in at least one episode, the sixth one of Smallville's upcoming season.

I think that just leaves Noel Neill, JAck Larson, Phyllis Coates, Teri Hatcher, Justin Whalin, Michael Landes, John Shea, Gerard Christopher, Stacy Haiduk, John Newton, Gene Hackman, Jackie Cooper, and Marc McClure that haven't been approached to be on Smallville.

It would be better if they promote her as: Clark's cousin's Aunt comes to the show. You lose if you say; Clark's Mother

That's cool. Her best movie was, by far, "Ruthless People". One of the most underappreciated comedies. She does look good, nice to see her get work.

Would be better if she played the voice... Clark needs to bond with his real mother.. get some advice... so he can really accpect his destiny... flash episode ain't bad. better off if she voice lara el.. so clark can bond...

That's great. Helen Slater will play the wife of that guy who is Kara's uncle whose son is that guy played by Tom Welling. I love it! Can't wait for the next season of Supergirl!

Not to get too Superman nerdy, but her name is Lara Lor-Van, not Lara-El. On Krypton, women don't take their husband's surname.
