Will the Sex and the City Film Be a "Big" Deal?
Sex and the City courtesy HBO/TBS
As first scooped by Ausiello, the big-screen Sex and the City boinkfest is now a go, with leads Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis all set to reprise their series roles. Cattrall, a long-rumored holdout, was ultimately locked in with the promise of scene input, big bucks and a future HBO series deal, sources tell Variety. That's right, folks — your "Mannequin: The Series" dream is alive.
Now that the New Line-produced Sex film is greenlit, the involvement of series faves such as Chris Noth (as Mr. Big/John) will start to get firmed up.
POLL: Other than Big, which Sex and the City fella do you hope appears in the film? Vote here.

While I enjoyed the show, I don't "get" the idea of a movie.

Unreliable sources tell me the central plot involves a bald Carrie assaulting a car with an umbrella, oddly enough.

lol!
As much as I loved SATC, I'm thinking may be too much time has passed and now it just seems sad. I really hope the movie doesn't suck and forever destroy SATC in our memories.

I am excited tentatively for this movie. I think the success will depend on getting all (or at least a majority) of the men to participate. Although the series was about the women, making a movie about their lives post-finale most definitely includes the involvement of their men. I am interested to get more details surrounding the plot.
By the way, Evan's character is Harry in the poll not Henry.

I couldn't even cast a vote in the poll (about which of the SATC men we'd like to see reprising their role) because I couldn't choose just one! Sure hope they can get them ALL to participate in the movie.

Isn't Kim Cattrall a little old to be playing a slut? And shouldn't part of the plot be how one (or all) of them cope with the STDs they surely must have contracted from one of their many men?

Well Rue McClanahan might beg to differ but yeah I get your point.
I just don't see how a theatrical release of a movie based on a TV show that at it's peak drew like 6 million viewers?

Can anyone say "John Corbett"? I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOOVED him as Aidan on SATC, I was disappointed when he and Carrie broke up. I'm looking forward to a feature film, but it had better be good, and they really do need to get back all the supporting actors as well in order for it to really mean anything.

Matt, how could you not include John Corbett as part of the poll?!?!! He was the best guy that Carrie dated!

The only ones I would even care to see again are Carrie and Mr. Big in wedded bliss. I'll probably skip the movie - at least initially.

This is going to be one of the biggest movie releases in history! The show was translated into every 21st century modern language!

What a bunch of gloomy gussies! Let's give them a chance to put it together!
First of all, maybe too much time has passed? Three years??? Each one of the women still look beautiful, and we have no idea about the script. Maybe it will have something to do with being sexy...over a certain age.
As for the "six million" viewers at its peak, was that one airing? HBO aired the show several times in a week, and I know I didn't always watch it on the Sunday night. And considering the DVD sales, it's a show that people wanted to watching again and again.
Sometimes, I'm glad that most of Hollywood doesn't listen to us "crazy internet people", otherwise NOTHING would get greenlit, and we'd soon be watching crappy "reality shows" on the BIG screen, too!
